RMG provides a steady flow of employment for approximately 4,000,000 workers, the majority of whom are women. This remarkable progress, however, has been hampered by a lack of factory safety and industrial mishaps, which characterize health risks. Methods: With a population of 200 employees, this was a quantitative study. Interviews with informants were conducted using an interview guideline, and observations were carried out around the workplace using a checklist instrument. The information gathered was used to create a detailed picture of the scenario. This research aims to investigate health hazards of the garment industrial workers and their effects on workers' health. Results: The majority of garment workers were between the ages of 15-20 years old. 93.6% of respondents worked for 8-9 hours each day on average, and 79.2% put in an extra 2-4 hours of work. 66% had no accident in the previous year, while 24.7 % experienced a small cut, abrasion, or injury. Moreover, most respondents were unconcerned about physical or environmental pollution, while 68% were concerned about noise pollution. Due to the direct link to health risks, employees suffered from headaches, general weakness, and eyestrain. Conclusion: Workers' headaches and eyestrain were caused by an insufficient lighting and ventilation system and noise pollution. Backaches, joint pain, and chest pain were caused by long working hours and a dirty workplace. Sony</a></div><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">A cross-sectional study was conducted from January to June of 2013 to find out the occupational health hazards among the workers of different garment factories in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Total sample was 145 and purposive sampling technique was followed for data collection, which was done by face to face interview. The data was collected on a structured questionnaire. Data was analyzed by SPSS version 17.0. Majority (40%) were found in the age group of 16-20 years where mean age was 23.30 ±6.92 years. Among them female (89%) outnumbered the male (11%). Of them 96% were Muslim. Majority (48.3%) were educated up to primary school and most of them (55.9%) were married. 91.7% had monthly salary of 1001-5000 taka. 52.4% respondents were machine operator, but maximum (75%) were unskilled and 72% had length of job between 2-7 years. 91% respondents normally worked for 8-9 hours. 85.5% did 2-3 hours overtime. In the last one year 64.8% had no accident but minor cut, burn or injury was faced by 28.3%. Most of the (44%) respondents did not complain about physical environmental pollution but 33.8% complained of noise pollution. Majority (84.8%) were satisfied with the constant presence of doctor or nurse in their factory. Maximum (51%) respondents suffered from headache or shoulder pain. Insomnia was common in 20% respondents. Majority (56.6%) did not mention any permanent illness. In this study the prevalence of occupational health hazards was 88.28%. A significant relationship was found between noise pollution and headache (P<0.014) and also between length of job (in years) & backache (P<0.091). Currently, around 4.5 million workers, of whom 80% are female, are working in the industry. Due to the poor working environment and arduous nature of the job, women workers in the industry are vulnerable to diverse physical and psychological health hazards. A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out among 360 female workers of the garment industry in Dhaka to examine their health issues. The study found respectively 88%, 75% and 55% participants were suffering from headache, hand pain and respiratory complications due to the nature of their work, working posture and dust and chemicals, while 69% participants reported experiencing depression. At the same time this industry opened a new door of employment for the rural marginal people. The working environment of the garment factories is not congenial to health and the income level of the workers in this industry is very poor to keep up their minimum living requirements in the society. As a result, the workers in the readymade garment industry are not physically and mentally sound to do the work efficiently. Keeping this in mind, the study has been conducted to identify the major health problems of the workers in the garment industry of Bangladesh. In this study 265 workers have been interviewed personally and collected data have been analyzed through factor analysis to identify the major health problems of the workers derived from the working environment and the nature of their job. This study identified fourteen major health problems of the workers.
