Do not come<MH7126> near<MH7126> it, so<MH4616> that<MH4616> you may know<MH3045> the way<MH1870> by which<MH834> you shall go<MH1980>, for you have not passed<MH5674a> this way<MH1870> before<MH4480, 8543, 8032a>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/3-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>Then Joshua<MH3091> said<MH559> to the people<MH5971a>, “Consecrate<MH6942> yourselves, for tomorrow<MH4279> the LORD<MH3068> will do<MH6213a> miracles<MH6381> among<MH7130> you.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/3-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>And Joshua<MH3091> spoke<MH559> to the priests<MH3548>, saying<MH559>, “Take<MH5375> up<MH5375> the ark<MH727> of the covenant<MH1285> and cross<MH5674a> over<MH5674a> ahead<MH6440> of the people<MH5971a>.” So they took<MH5375> up<MH5375> the ark<MH727> of the covenant<MH1285> and went<MH1980> ahead<MH6440> of the people<MH5971a>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/3-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Now the LORD<MH3068> said<MH559> to Joshua<MH3091>, “This<MH2088> day<MH3117> I will begin<MH2490c> to exalt<MH1431> you in the sight<MH5869> of all<MH3605> Israel<MH3478>, so<MH834> that<MH834> they will know<MH3045> that just<MH3512c> as<MH3512c> I have been<MH1961> with Moses<MH4872>, I will be with you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/3-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>So you shall command<MH6680> the priests<MH3548> who are carrying<MH5375> the ark<MH727> of the covenant<MH1285>, saying<MH559>, ‘When you come<MH935> to the edge<MH7097a> of the waters<MH4325> of the Jordan<MH3383>, you shall stand<MH5975> <i>still</i> in the Jordan<MH3383>.’” <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/3-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Then Joshua<MH3091> said<MH559> to the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>, “Come<MH5066> here<MH2008>, and hear<MH8085> the words<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/3-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>And Joshua<MH3091> said<MH559>, “By this<MH2088> you will know<MH3045> that the living<MH2416a> God<MH410> is among<MH7130> you, and that He will assuredly<MH3423> drive<MH3423> out<MH3423> from you the Canaanite<MH3669a>, the Hittite<MH2850>, the Hivite<MH2340>, the Perizzite<MH6522>, the Girgashite<MH1622>, the Amorite<MH567>, and the Jebusite<MH2983>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/3-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Behold<MH2009>, the ark<MH727> of the covenant<MH1285> of the Lord<MH136> of all<MH3605> the earth<MH776> is crossing<MH5674a> over<MH5674a> ahead<MH6440> of you into the Jordan<MH3383>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/3-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Now<MH6258> then, take<MH3947> for yourselves twelve<MH8147, 6240> men<MH376> from the tribes<MH7626> of Israel<MH3478>, one<MH259> man<MH376> for each<MH376, 259> tribe<MH7626>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/3-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And it will come<MH1961> about<MH1961> when the soles<MH3709> of the feet<MH7272> of the priests<MH3548> who carry<MH5375> the ark<MH727> of the LORD<MH3068>, the Lord<MH136> of all<MH3605> the earth<MH776>, rest<MH5117> in the waters<MH4325> of the Jordan<MH3383>, the waters<MH4325> of the Jordan<MH3383> will be cut<MH3772> off<MH3772>, <i>that is,</i> the waters<MH4325> which are <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>flowing<MH3381> down<MH3381> from above<MH4480, 4605>; and they will stand<MH5975> in one<MH259> heap<MH5067a>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/3-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>So when the people<MH5971a> set<MH5265> out<MH5265> from their tents<MH168> to cross<MH5674a> the Jordan<MH3383>, with the priests<MH3548> carrying<MH5375> the ark<MH727> of the covenant<MH1285> before<MH6440> the people<MH5971a>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/3-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>and when those who were carrying<MH5375> the ark<MH727> came<MH935> up to the Jordan<MH3383> and the feet<MH7272> of the priests<MH3548> carrying<MH5375> the ark<MH727> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>stepped<MH2881> down<MH2881> into the edge<MH7097a> of the water<MH4325> (for the Jordan<MH3383> overflows<MH4390, 5921> all<MH3605> its banks<MH1415> all<MH3605> the days<MH3117> of harvest<MH7105a>), <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/3-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>then the waters<MH4325> which were <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>flowing<MH3381> down<MH3381> from above<MH4480, 4605> stood<MH5975> <i>and</i> rose<MH6965> up<MH6965> in one<MH259> heap<MH5067a>, a great<MH3966> distance<MH7368> away<MH7368> at Adam<MH121>, the city<MH5892b> that is beside<MH4480, 6654> Zarethan<MH6891>; and those which were <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>flowing<MH3381> down<MH3381> toward<MH5921> the sea<MH3220> of the Arabah<MH6160>, the Salt<MH4417> Sea<MH3220>, were completely<MH8552> cut<MH3772> off<MH3772>.
