Gad was the seventh son of Jacob and the firstborn of Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. The tribe of Gad played a significant role in the history of Israel, particularly during the wilderness wanderings and the settlement in the Promised Land.<br><br><b>Biblical Ancestry and Blessings</b><br><br>Gad's birth is recorded in <a href="/genesis/30-9.htm">Genesis 30:9-11</a>, where Leah, seeing that she had stopped bearing children, gave her maidservant Zilpah to Jacob as a wife.
