and we stayed<MG1304> there<MG3757> for seven<MG2033> days<MG2250>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>On the first<MG1520> day of the week<MG4521>, when we were gathered<MG4863> together<MG4863> to break<MG2806> bread<MG740>, Paul<MG3972> <i>began</i> talking<MG1256> to them, intending<MG3195> to leave<MG1826> the next<MG1887> day<MG1887>, and he prolonged<MG3905> his <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>message<MG3056> until<MG3360> midnight<MG3317>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>There were many<MG2425> lamps<MG2985> in the upstairs<MG5253> room<MG5253> where<MG3757> we were gathered<MG4863> together<MG4863>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>And there was a young<MG3494> man<MG3494> named<MG3686> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>Eutychus<MG2161> sitting<MG2516> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>on the window<MG2376> sill<MG2376>, sinking<MG2702> into a deep<MG901> sleep<MG5258>; and as Paul<MG3972> kept<MG4183> on<MG4183> talking<MG1256>, <i>Eutychus</i> was overcome<MG2702> by sleep<MG5258> and fell<MG4098> down<MG2736> from the third<MG5152> floor<MG5152>, and was picked<MG142> up<MG142> dead<MG3498>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>But Paul<MG3972> went<MG2597> down<MG2597> and fell<MG1968> upon him, and after embracing<MG4843> him, he said<MG3004>, &#8220;<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>Do not be<MG2350b> troubled<MG2350b>, for <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>he is still alive<MG5590>.&#8221; <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>When <i>Paul</i> had gone<MG305> <i>back</i> up<MG305> and had broken<MG2806> the bread<MG740> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>eaten<MG1089>, he talked<MG3656> with them a long<MG2425> while<MG2425> until<MG891> daybreak<MG827>, and then<MG3779> left<MG1831>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>They took<MG71> away<MG71> the boy<MG3816> alive<MG2198>, and were <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>greatly<MG3756, 3357> comforted<MG3870>. <p class="hdg">Troas to Miletus</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>But we went<MG4281> ahead<MG4281> to the ship<MG4143> and set<MG321> sail<MG321> for Assos<MG789>, intending<MG3195> from<MG1564> there<MG1564> to take<MG353> Paul<MG3972> on board<MG353>; for that<MG3779> was<MG3779> what<MG3779> he had arranged<MG1299>, intending<MG3195> himself<MG846> to go<MG3978> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>by<MG3978> land<MG3978>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And when<MG5613> he met<MG4820> us at Assos<MG789>, we took<MG353> him on<MG353> board<MG353> and came<MG2064> to Mitylene<MG3412>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Sailing<MG636> from<MG2547> there<MG2547>, we arrived<MG2658> the following<MG1897> day opposite<MG481> Chios<MG5508>; and the next<MG2087> day we crossed<MG3846> over<MG3846> to Samos<MG4544>, and on the following<MG2192> day we came<MG2064> to Miletus<MG3399>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>For Paul<MG3972> had decided<MG2919> to sail<MG3896> past<MG3896> Ephesus<MG2181> so<MG3704> that<MG3704> he would<MG1096> not have to lose<MG5551> time<MG5551> in <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>Asia<MG773>; for he was hurrying<MG4692>, if<MG1487> it might be possible<MG1415> for him to be in Jerusalem<MG2414> the day<MG2250> of Pentecost<MG4005>. <p class="hdg">Farewell to Ephesus</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>From Miletus<MG3399> he sent<MG3992> <i>word</i> to Ephesus<MG2181> and called<MG3333> to<MG3333> himself<MG3333> the elders<MG4245> of the church<MG1577>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>And when<MG5613> they came<MG3854> to him, he said<MG3004> to them, <p class="paragraph"> &#8220;You yourselves<MG4771> know<MG1987>, from the first<MG4413> day<MG2250> that I set<MG1910> foot<MG1910> in <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>Asia<MG773>, how<MG4459> I was with you the whole<MG3956> time<MG5550>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>serving<MG1398> the Lord<MG2962> with all<MG3956> humility<MG5012a> and with tears<MG1144> and trials<MG3986> which came<MG4819> upon me <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>through<MG1722> the plots<MG1917> of the Jews<MG2453>;
