it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over Jordan, that the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,</td><td width="20%" class="odd" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-1.htm">1</a>After the entire nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the LORD spoke to Joshua: "</td></tr></table> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center"><tr><td width="20%" the people, one man from each tribe,</td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-2.htm">2</a>Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,</td><td width="20%" ‘Take twelve stones from here out of the midst of the Jordan, from the very place where the priests’ feet stood firmly, and bring them over with you and lay them down in the place where you lodge from each tribe.</td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-4.htm">4</a>So Joshua called the twelve men whom he had appointed from the sons of Israel, one man from each tribe;</td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-4.htm">4</a>Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:</td><td When your children ask in time to come, ‘What do those stones mean to you?’</td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-6.htm">6</a>"Let this be a sign among you, so that when your children ask later, saying, 'What do these stones mean to you?'</td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-6.htm">6</a>That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?</td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-6.htm">6</a>so that this will be a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, 'What do these stones mean to you?'</td></tr></table> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center"><tr><td width="20%" class="odd" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-7.htm">7</a>tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever."</td><td width="20%" class="odd" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-7.htm">7</a>then you shall tell them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. So these stones shall be to the people of Israel a memorial forever.”</td><td width="20%" class="odd" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-7.htm">7</a>then you shall say to them, 'Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off.' So these stones shall become a memorial to the sons of Israel forever."</td><td width="20%" class="odd" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-7.htm">7</a>Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.</td><td width="20%" class="odd" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-7.htm">7</a>you should tell them, 'The waters of the Jordan were cut off in front of the ark of the LORD's covenant. When it crossed the Jordan, the Jordan's waters were cut off.' They took twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, as the LORD had told Joshua; and they carried them over with them to their camp, where they put them down.</td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-8.htm">8</a>And the people of Israel did just as Joshua commanded and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel, just as the LORD told Joshua. The people hurried over,</td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-10.htm">10</a>For the priests bearing the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan until everything was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to tell the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua. The people passed over in haste.</td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-10.htm">10</a>For the priests who carried the ark were standing in the middle of the Jordan until everything was completed that the LORD had commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua. And the people hurried and crossed;</td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-10.htm">10</a>For the priests which bare the ark stood in the midst of Jordan, until every thing was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.</td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><a href="/joshua/4-10.htm">10</a>The priests carrying the ark continued standing in the middle of the Jordan until everything was completed that the LORD had commanded Joshua to tell the people, in keeping with all that Moses had commanded Joshua.
