<em>Bildpolitik: Das Autorenporträt</em> als ikonische Autorisierung bestand aus den drei Einzelprojekten <em>Das frühneuzeitliche Autorenporträt als Verlegerprodukt,</em>  Wolfenbüttel, <em>Weimarer Bildpolitik um 1800</em>, Weimar, und <em>Dichter und Gelehrte in der Fotografie</em>, Marbach, die von Hole Rößler, Henrike Haug, Lea Hagedorn, Christian Hecht, Sophie Borges, Ellen Strittmatter und Daniel Berndt betreut wurden. </p> <p>Bilder sind wirkmächtige Instrumente der Steuerung von öffentlicher Meinung und kultureller (Selbst-)Wahrnehmung. Der Titel Bildpolitik verweist auf dieses Funktionspotenzial von Bildern, das weit über den Bereich des Politischen im eigentlichen Sinne hinaus in allen kulturellen Feldern – in Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Bildung ebenso wie in Religion, Kunst und Sport – die Herausbildung unterschiedlicher und historisch variabler Praktiken bedingt hat. Ganz allgemein verstehen wir den Begriff Bildpolitik hier als Bezeichnung für alle Formen des strategischen Einsatzes von Bildern zur Interaktion mit großen Adressatengruppen.</p> <p>Innerhalb dieses analytischen Rahmens widmet sich das Forschungsprojekt dem facettenreichen Gegenstandsbereich des Autorenporträts. Es untersucht in verschiedenen Zeiträumen, Kunstgattungen und Kontexten die Bedingungen der Produktion und Funktionalisierung von Bildern, die explizit und primär zur öffentlichen Darstellung von Autorinnen und Autoren geschaffen wurden. Gefragt wird nach der spezifischen sozialen, ökonomischen und künstlerischen Produktivität, die derartige Bilder entfalten konnten, und nach den Bedingungen, unter denen sie Teil einer kulturellen Imagologie werden konnten. Mit dem Leitbegriff der ikonischen Autorisierung sind die für das Autorenporträt zentralen Funktionen der Authentifizierung, Verifizierung und Valorisierung von Werken, Personen und Medien aufgerufen. Der Begriff besitzt mithin drei heuristische Dimensionen, die in allen Forschungsansätzen und Untersuchungsfeldern der drei Teilprojekte den analytischen Zugriff prägen.</p> <p>Dies sind die einzelnen Projekte:</p> <p><strong>Das frühneuzeitliche Autorenporträt als Verlegerprodukt, Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel</strong></p> <p>Ausgehend von der Feststellung, dass das Autorenporträt keine Bildgattung sui generis darstellt, geht das MWW-Teilprojekt der Frage nach, durch welche Praktiken aus einem Gelehrtenporträt ein Autorbild wird, und welche bildpolitische Relevanz ihm zu eigen ist. Denn die Vorstellung einer spezifischen Produktivität des Autorenporträts gründet sich maßgeblich auf dessen Zugehörigkeit zum paramedialen Apparat eines Buches; erst durch seine epi- bzw. perimediale Verwendung erfuhr das Gelehrtenbildnis eine funktionale Transformation. An der Herstellung, Verbreitung und Rezeption von Autorbildern waren frühneuzeitliche Druckerverleger maßgeblich beteiligt. Sie inszenierten sich autorgleich als ‚Stützpfeiler‘ der Gelehrtenrepublik, ohne die eine öffentliche Verbreitung von Gedanken- und Kulturgütern schlechterdings unmöglich sei. Als zentralen Bestandteil verlegerischer Selbstinszenierung und Produktplatzierung hat das Teilprojekt frühneuzeitliche Autorenporträts untersucht.</p> <p>Hole Rößler (2014–2017), Henrike Haug (2017); Lea Hagedorn (2017–2018)</p> <p><strong>Weimarer Bildpolitik um 1800, Klassik Stiftung Weimar</strong></p> <p>Im Rahmen dieses Teilprojekts wurde eine umfassende Deutung der klassizistischen Weimarer Bildpolitik geleistet. In einem engen Beziehungsgeflecht, zu dem Goethe, Herder, Wieland und Schiller ebenso gehörten wie Herzog Carl August, seine Mutter Anna Amalia und der Unternehmer Friedrich Justin Bertuch, entwickelten sich künstlerische und kommerzielle Strategien, die dazu beitragen sollten, den künstlerischen und kulturellen Rang Weimars anschaulich zu machen. Im Mittelpunkt stehen dabei die Porträtdarstellungen Goethes, wie sie besonders im Umfeld von Goethes Italienreise entstanden sind und die bis in die Gegenwart als Bezugspunkte für die Porträts vieler anderer Autoren dienen.</p> <p>Christian Hecht (2014–2018); Sophie Borges (2015–2016, 2018–2019)</p> <p><strong>Dichter und Gelehrte in der Fotografie, Deutsches Literaturarchiv Marbach</strong></p> <p>Das Marbacher Teilprojekt untersucht das Verhältnis literarischer und philosophischer Autoren zu ihrem Bild. Von den Anfängen der Fotografie bis in die Gegenwart fragt es nach den inszenierten wie auch den zufälligen Ausdrucksformen des Genius im fotografischen Medium, nach Marketingstrategien der Autoren sowie der Einflussnahme von Verlagen und Erben auf die Kultur- und Gedächtnispolitik. Dabei wurden bildliche und schriftliche Quellen, ikonographische Traditionen und poetologische Intentionen komparatistisch ausgewertet. In Augenschein genommen wurden insbesondere das Spannungsfeld zwischen Dichterimago und -image sowie der mediale Aspekt zwischen künstlerischer Formung und bildnerischem Überraschungseffekt.</p>
