The area of rural development in India is as multi-faceted as the country itself and by and large media has affected almost every aspect of rural development. The paper extends the definition of social media networks from just being the social networking sites and micro blogging to other media networks like AIR, news channels and NGOs. Differentiation of modern day media and traditional media has been discussed very closely. The methodology of data collection is based upon the interviews of different people attached to the relevant fields. Various success stories were collected and analyzed. The paper aims to discuss various fields where social media has affected rural people\u0026amp;#39;s lives and also of the fields where media has been lacking in its role. This paper concludes that to achieve India Vision 2020, social media networks have to gear up more in rural areas of the country because India cannot shine without its villages shining as Rural women of the state are showing positive trends in the form of increased social media and mobile usage. This study is an effort to know the purpose of using or not using social media by rural women. The study design is exploratory and qualitative in nature. Data collection primarily consisted of 25 semi-structured individual interviews having 10 open ended and close ended specific questions in one of the villages of Azamgarh district of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Sampling approach is flexible and situational. The analysis of data revealed that rural women have become active on social media since last six months to one year. Most of them are using Facebook, Whatsapp and YouTube for the purpose of interaction, learning new skills, checking out recipes and latest fashions. The current study incorporates a qualitative approach in a rural college located in Tirupattur, Vellore District, Tamil Nadu-India. The Explanatory Case Study Design was adopted and five case studies were undertaken to study the implication of social networks on rural youth. Farmers are also actively using social media for seeking and sharing information related to agriculture through various social media platforms. However, farmers often encounter several constraints in leveraging these technology platforms effectively. This research investigated the multifaceted challenges faced by farmers in utilizing social media for agricultural purposes. The present study was conducted in one district (U.S. Nagar) of Uttarakhand, known as the food bowl of the state with the objective to find out farmers’ usage pattern of social media and identify constraints faced by the farmers in accessing and using the social media. The study followed an exploratory research and the study sample comprised of purposively selected 200 farmers (those who owned a smartphone) spread over eight villages. The data was collected using a pre-tested structured interview schedule. The study findings revealed that the primary constraints faced by respondents in using social media were lack of awareness about useful websites and mobile apps, poor digital literacy, and poor competency in its use. Further, it also revealed that while younger, more educated farmers tend to use social media more readily, older and rural farmers face substantial hurdles. The study underscores the need for targeted interventions, including digital literacy programs, infrastructure improvements, and the creation of relevant, localized content to enhance social media's utility in agriculture. So enough amounts of efforts, money, and time are devoted for political campaigning in the elections. So various types of tools and techniques such as door to door interaction, rallies, posters, flyers, TV and radio interviews etc. are used to influence the voters. But with the advancement of technology, internet and social networking sites have overcome these traditional methods of political campaigning. The use of social media in the political campaigning brought a revolutionary change in the electoral system. Over the last decade lots of work has done on the role of social media in political campaigning. Role of social media is very much clear in the developed countries but in developing countries like India where majority of people live in villages with the problems like illiteracy, unawareness about technologies and lack of internet sources, situation is some bit different. So to find the effect of social media on the victory of particular political party in Punjab region of India a survey is conducted on people (N=50) that includes rural and urban, male and female, young and senior citizen. All the respondents are selected with selected random sampling technique. For the collection of data online Google form is used. This study explore that how social media engagement affect political participation that directly or indirectly affect political efficacy.
