El Pabellón que, para la Exposición Universal de Bruselas de 1958, diseñaron José Antonio Corrales y Ramón Vázquez Molezún y cuya instalación convocó, junto a ellos, al más brillante y comprometido grupo de artistas para clamar ante el mundo, el espíritu y el anhelo de modernidad de un país sumido, por entonces, en el retraso, la pobreza y la incomunicación. En la actualidad permanece abandonado entre pinos y zarzas en algún lugar de la Casa de Campo. Acero, muro y rama forman ahora un conjunto inseparable. Corrales, Molezún, Carvajal, Romany, Oíza, de la Sota, se reunían con Chillida, Oteiza, Gabino, Vaquero y otros, en mágicas y eternas veladas en las que reflexionaban con pasión sobre los valores y las virtudes que rescataran la cautiva cultura española. El autentico espíritu de la modernidad, valiente e indomable, era lo que ellos encerraron como el más valioso de los tesoros dentro de aquella gema de hexágonos cristalinos que ahora se pudre en el olvido. No hace mucho tiempo, en el marco de otra investigación, pude visitar las actuales ruinas del Pabellón. Constatando que su estado de conservación es perfecto. De ruina perfecta me refiero. ¡Y esto es extraordinario! Su ubicación, en el interior del recinto ferial, lo ha salvaguardado de ocupaciones indeseables y el absoluto olvido que ha sufrido por parte de las administraciones, incluidas las participadas por arquitectos, lo ha preservado en un estado casi mágico. Lo que, además de constituir un milagro, nos ofrece la fantástica posibilidad para su revisión. El espacio arquitectónico es ahora algo más que un espacio físico, es un espacio reflexivo, capaz de trascender la materialidad del objeto. La pérdida absoluta de su función lo libera como arquitectura, posibilitando una contemplación al más alto nivel estético. El ensayo reflexiona sobre la posibilidad de establecer una “poética de la ruina” que sea capaz de redimir la arquitectura que no fue asimilada en su momento. Sobre si es posible que desde su estado de debilidad extrema, la ruina arquitectónica pueda establecer un espacio trascendente y potencial del que extraer significados más ocultos y verdaderos. ¿Puede ser el espacio de la ruina un espacio para la redención. Entendiendo ésta como la vuelta de algo que ya se había perdido, y quizás, sólo alcanzable a través de la muerte o la tragedia? ¿Podremos, desde la interpretación, evocar de nuevo con autenticidad el espíritu de la obra? Por otro lado, y desde un punto de vista más pragmático, se plantea cual debiera ser la manera de incorporar al pensamiento contemporáneo la ruina arquitectónica, ya no de la antigüedad, sino de la modernidad de aquellos primeros años del siglo XX. Ruinas que aparecerán con prontitud devolviéndonos, a los arquitectos, la memoria y los más inquietantes fantasmas de la En la actualidad permanece abandonado entre pinos y zarzas en algún lugar de la Casa de Campo. Acero, muro y rama forman ahora un conjunto inseparable. \nCorrales, Molezún, Carvajal, Romany, Oíza, de la Sota, se reunían con Chillida, Oteiza, Gabino, Vaquero y otros, en mágicas y eternas veladas en las que reflexionaban con pasión sobre los valores y las virtudes que rescataran la cautiva cultura española. El autentico espíritu de la modernidad, valiente e indomable, era lo que ellos encerraron como el más valioso de los tesoros dentro de aquella gema de hexágonos cristalinos que ahora se pudre en el olvido.\nNo hace mucho tiempo, en el marco de otra investigación, pude visitar las actuales ruinas del Pabellón. Constatando que su estado de conservación es perfecto. De ruina perfecta me refiero. ¡Y esto es extraordinario! Su ubicación, en el interior del recinto ferial, lo ha salvaguardado de ocupaciones indeseables y el absoluto olvido que ha sufrido por parte de las administraciones, incluidas las participadas por arquitectos, lo ha preservado en un estado casi mágico. Lo que, además de constituir un milagro, nos ofrece la fantástica posibilidad para su revisión.\nEl espacio arquitectónico es ahora algo más que un espacio físico, es un espacio reflexivo, capaz de trascender la materialidad del objeto. La pérdida absoluta de su función lo libera como arquitectura, posibilitando una contemplación al más alto nivel estético.\nEl ensayo reflexiona sobre la posibilidad de establecer una “poética de la ruina” que sea capaz de redimir la arquitectura que no fue asimilada en su momento. Sobre si es posible que desde su estado de debilidad extrema, la ruina arquitectónica pueda establecer un espacio trascendente y potencial del que extraer significados más ocultos y verdaderos. ¿Puede ser el espacio de la ruina un espacio para la redención. Entendiendo ésta como la vuelta de algo que ya se había perdido, y quizás, sólo alcanzable a través de la muerte o la tragedia? ¿Podremos, desde la interpretación, evocar de nuevo con autenticidad el espíritu de la obra?\nPor otro lado, y desde un punto de vista más pragmático, se plantea cual debiera ser la manera de incorporar al pensamiento contemporáneo la ruina arquitectónica, ya no de la antigüedad, sino de la modernidad de aquellos primeros años del siglo XX. En la actualidad permanece abandonado entre pinos y zarzas en algún lugar de la Casa de Campo. Acero, muro y rama forman ahora un conjunto inseparable. Corrales, Molezún, Carvajal, Romany, Oíza, de la Sota, se reunían con Chillida, Oteiza, Gabino, Vaquero y otros, en mágicas y eternas veladas en las que reflexionaban con pasión sobre los valores y las virtudes que rescataran la cautiva cultura española. El autentico espíritu de la modernidad, valiente e indomable, era lo que ellos encerraron como el más valioso de los tesoros dentro de aquella gema de hexágonos cristalinos que ahora se pudre en el olvido. No hace mucho tiempo, en el marco de otra investigación, pude visitar las actuales ruinas del Pabellón. Constatando que su estado de conservación es perfecto. De ruina perfecta me refiero. ¡Y esto es extraordinario! Su ubicación, en el interior del recinto ferial, lo ha salvaguardado de ocupaciones indeseables y el absoluto olvido que ha sufrido por parte de las administraciones, incluidas las participadas por arquitectos, lo ha preservado en un estado casi mágico. Lo que, además de constituir un milagro, nos ofrece la fantástica posibilidad para su revisión. El espacio arquitectónico es ahora algo más que un espacio físico, es un espacio reflexivo, capaz de trascender la materialidad del objeto. La pérdida absoluta de su función lo libera como arquitectura, posibilitando una contemplación al más alto nivel estético. El ensayo reflexiona sobre la posibilidad de establecer una “poética de la ruina” que sea capaz de redimir la arquitectura que no fue asimilada en su momento. Sobre si es posible que desde su estado de debilidad extrema, la ruina arquitectónica pueda establecer un espacio trascendente y potencial del que extraer significados más ocultos y verdaderos. ¿Puede ser el espacio de la ruina un espacio para la redención. Entendiendo ésta como la vuelta de algo que ya se había perdido, y quizás, sólo alcanzable a través de la muerte o la tragedia? ¿Podremos, desde la interpretación, evocar de nuevo con autenticidad el espíritu de la obra? Por otro lado, y desde un punto de vista más pragmático, se plantea cual debiera ser la manera de incorporar al pensamiento contemporáneo la ruina arquitectónica, ya no de la antigüedad, sino de la modernidad de aquellos primeros años del siglo XX.
