This entrance was significant as it was the only way into the Holy Place, symbolizing the singular path to God. The Tabernacle itself is a type of Christ, who declared Himself the "door" (<a href="/john/10-9.htm">John 10:9</a>), emphasizing that access to God is through Him alone.<p><b>you are to make a curtain</b><br>The curtain served as a barrier between the outside world and the sacred space within. It represents the separation between God and humanity due to sin. In the New Testament, the tearing of the temple veil at Christ's crucifixion (<a href="/matthew/27-51.htm">Matthew 27:51</a>) signifies the removal of this barrier, granting believers direct access to God.<p><b>embroidered with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn</b><br>These colors hold deep symbolic meaning. Blue often represents heaven or divinity, purple signifies royalty, and scarlet symbolizes sacrifice or atonement. Together, they foreshadow the nature of Christ as divine, kingly, and the ultimate sacrifice for sin. The use of these colors in the Tabernacle's design reflects the heavenly and kingly nature of God's dwelling among His people.<p><b>and finely spun linen</b><br>Finely spun linen was a luxury item in ancient times, indicating purity and righteousness. Linen's use in the Tabernacle's construction underscores the holiness required to approach God. In <a href="/revelation/19-8.htm">Revelation 19:8</a>, fine linen is described as the righteous acts of the saints, further connecting the material to purity and holiness in the biblical narrative.<div class="vheading2">Persons / Places / Events</div>1. <b><a href="/topical/m/moses.htm">Moses</a></b><br>The leader of the Israelites, who received the instructions for the Tabernacle from God on Mount Sinai.<br><br>2. <b><a href="/topical/t/the_tabernacle.htm">The Tabernacle</a></b><br>A portable earthly dwelling place of God among the Israelites, where the curtain described in this verse was to be placed.<br><br>3. <b><a href="/topical/t/the_entrance_curtain.htm">The Entrance Curtain</a></b><br>A specific curtain made of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and finely spun linen, designed by an embroiderer, serving as the entrance to the Tabernacle.<div class="vheading2">Teaching Points</div><b><a href="/topical/s/symbolism_of_colors.htm">Symbolism of Colors</a></b><br>The blue, purple, and scarlet yarns symbolize royalty, divinity, and sacrifice. THE HANGING FOR THE DOOR.</span><p>(36, 37) It is essential in the East to shut out light and heat, whence tents have always doors. These are usually made of a piece of cloth, which is raised for a man to enter, and falls behind him. But for a tent of the size described, which seems to have been above twenty-two feet high in the centre, something more was required. The "hanging" spoken of appears to have been a beautifully embroidered curtain, which could be either drawn up or let down, and which was attached by golden "hooks" to five pillars plated with gold, thus dividing the entrance into four equal spaces.<p><div class="vheading2"><a href="/commentaries/pulpit/exodus/26.htm">Pulpit Commentary</a></div><span class="cmt_sub_title">Verses 36, 37.</span> - <span class="accented">The entrance to the tent</span>. <span class="cmt_sub_title">Verse 36.</span> - <span class="cmt_word">Thou shalt make a hanging</span>. A curtain which could draw up and. down, seems to be intended. When let down, it probably covered the entire eastern side, or front of the tabernacle. When raised, it allowed the eye to penetrate into the holy place. <span class="p"><br /><br /></span><span class="versiontext"><a href="/commentaries/exodus/26-36.htm">Parallel Commentaries ...</a></span><span class="p"><br /><br /><br /></span><a name="lexicon" id="lexicon"></a><div class="vheading">Hebrew</div><span class="word">For the entrance</span><br /><span class="heb">לְפֶ֣תַח</span> <span class="translit">(lə·p̄e·ṯaḥ)</span><br /><span class="parse">Preposition-l | Noun - masculine singular construct<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_6607.htm">Strong's 6607: </a> </span><span class="str2">An opening, door, entrance way</span><br /><br /><span class="word">to the tent,</span><br /><span class="heb">הָאֹ֔הֶל</span> <span class="translit">(hā·’ō·hel)</span><br /><span class="parse">Article | Noun - masculine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_168.htm">Strong's 168: </a> </span><span class="str2">A tent</span><br /><br /><span class="word">you are to make</span><br /><span class="heb">וְעָשִׂ֤יתָ</span> <span class="translit">(wə·‘ā·śî·ṯā)</span><br /><span class="parse">Conjunctive waw | Verb - Qal - Conjunctive perfect - second person masculine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_6213.htm">Strong's 6213: </a> </span><span class="str2">To do, make</span><br /><br /><span class="word">a curtain</span><br /><span class="heb">מָסָךְ֙</span> <span class="translit">(mā·sāḵ)</span><br /><span class="parse">Noun - masculine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_4539.htm">Strong's 4539: </a> </span><span class="str2">A covering, screen</span><br /><br /><span class="word">embroidered</span><br /><span class="heb">רֹקֵֽם׃</span> <span class="translit">(rō·qêm)</span><br /><span class="parse">Verb - Qal - Participle - masculine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_7551.htm">Strong's 7551: </a> </span><span class="str2">To variegate color, embroider, to fabricate</span><br /><br /><span class="word">with blue,</span><br /><span class="heb">תְּכֵ֧לֶת</span> <span class="translit">(tə·ḵê·leṯ)</span><br /><span class="parse">Noun - feminine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_8504.htm">Strong's 8504: </a> </span><span class="str2">The cerulean mussel, the color, obtained therefrom, stuff dyed therewith</span><br /><br /><span class="word">purple,</span><br /><span class="heb">וְאַרְגָּמָ֛ן</span> <span class="translit">(wə·’ar·gā·mān)</span><br /><span class="parse">Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_713.htm">Strong's 713: </a> </span><span class="str2">Purple, red-purple</span><br /><br /><span class="word">and scarlet yarn,</span><br /><span class="heb">וְתוֹלַ֥עַת</span> <span class="translit">(wə·ṯō·w·la·‘aṯ)</span><br /><span class="parse">Conjunctive waw | Noun - feminine singular construct<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_8438.htm">Strong's 8438: </a> </span><span class="str2">The crimson-grub, of the color, from it, cloths dyed therewith</span><br /><br /><span class="word">and finely spun</span><br /><span class="heb">מָשְׁזָ֑ר</span> <span class="translit">(mā·šə·zār)</span><br /><span class="parse">Verb - Hofal - Participle - masculine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_7806.htm">Strong's 7806: </a> </span><span class="str2">To be twisted</span><br /><br /><span class="word">linen.</span><br /><span class="heb">וְשֵׁ֣שׁ</span> <span class="translit">(wə·šêš)</span><br /><span class="parse">Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_8336.htm">Strong's 8336: </a> </span><span class="str2">Bleached stuff, white linen, marble</span><br /><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><div class="vheading">Links</div><a href="/niv/exodus/26-36.htm">Exodus 26:36 NIV</a><br /><a href="/nlt/exodus/26-36.htm">Exodus 26:36 NLT</a><br /><a href="/esv/exodus/26-36.htm">Exodus 26:36 ESV</a><br /><a href="/nasb/exodus/26-36.htm">Exodus 26:36 NASB</a><br /><a href="/kjv/exodus/26-36.htm">Exodus 26:36 KJV</a><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><a href="//bibleapps.com/exodus/26-36.htm">Exodus 26:36 BibleApps.com</a><br /><a href="//bibliaparalela.com/exodus/26-36.htm">Exodus 26:36 Biblia Paralela</a><br /><a href="//holybible.com.cn/exodus/26-36.htm">Exodus 26:36 Chinese Bible</a><br /><a href="//saintebible.com/exodus/26-36.htm">Exodus 26:36 French Bible</a><br /><a href="/catholic/exodus/26-36.htm">Exodus 26:36 Catholic Bible</a><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><a href="/exodus/26-36.htm">OT Law: Exodus 26:36 You shall make a screen (Exo.
