finally on Steam in 2013. A year later, it was released for the mobile game market for both Android and IOS devices and also on Facebook. <br/><br/>Prime World Defenders which is also known as Defenders: TD Origins on Android and simply Defenders on IOS is basically a tower defense game which makes use of good graphics and a system of beautifully crafted game cards in its RTS game play.<br/><br/>The game has a good story line punctuated by a graphic novel-like presentation which is really awesome. The premise of which you play the role of Ranger, a warrior in the world of Praia where there exist an element called Prime which happens to be a source of unlimited energy.<br/><br/>Prime is contained within ancient artifacts which are scattered all over a very dangerous area called the Prime Zone. Apparently, there are other beings called the Touched which are really mutated humans and creatures who are after the same thing and will stop at nothing to have it.<br/><br/>Ranger thus joins forces with 2 other heroes, Audrey, a girl with a penchant for building and fixing things like the defense towers and their upgrades and Imir, the founder of their group, a powerful mage and all out expert on Prime and artifacts.<br/><br/>Together, they travel to the Prime Zone after detecting an unknown outburst of incredible energy. They discover an artifact whose energy was being fed on by the Creeps or the Touched. They wrestle the artifact from the monsters and bring it to their fortified base castle. Urg-Nag, the leader and hero of the creeps refuses to give up the artifact and thus begins the siege on the Defenders base by the Army of Creeps.<br/><br/>As the creeps pour in, large and small alike, you will have to construct and strategically place your defense towers along the path the creeps will take on their way to reclaim the Prime which they believe is rightfully theirs. These is where the beautifully made cards come in. They represent the defense tower types and upgrades that can be used and mixed to give advanced capabilities and more punch so to speak.<br/><br/>The game proceeds in rounds or waves where groups of Creeps attack your fortress en masse via the designated path and its up to you where to place which type of canon, whether loaded with explosive projectiles or poison or any other Anti-Creep weapon available in the game.<br/><br/>You can also use bombs when the going gets tough supposedly but unfortunately, some of the bombs don鈥檛 have enough strength to damage the Creepazoids sufficiently and they still keep going and going and going until a tower gets them. Also, the levels get really very hard towards the end of the game.<br/><br/>The game typically displays all the in-game info you need to know via icons placed on the top and bottom of the screen. The game play is furious and immersive but has a tendency to get boring if you鈥檙e not really into the game or the game is not running properly on the device you have.<br/><br/>As of now, Defenders or Defenders: TD Origins are not recommended to be played on a smart phone as the graphics, specially the icon and controls tend to be so small and the text is practically unreadable not to mention being prone to errors and saved game data loss. A tablet device is recommended for mobile game play and even that is not excluded with some of the graphic problems particularly the text.<br/><br/>Nevertheless, the game is free2play on mobile and Facebook with micro-transactions or spending real money as an option for things like buying in-game money, card packs, stars, random cards and items that are offered on specials.<br/><br/>To most, earning in-game cash by winning the rounds is sufficient enough to keep them going up to the later stages or end of the game. The importance of collecting the in-game cards which are supplied at random (as unfortunately there currently is no option to choose them) become evident as you will need to choose the towers to use that will give optimum resistance to the amassing horde of creeps that seem to grow larger and stronger per wave.<br/><br/>The Steam version eliminates micro-transactions once and for all for a price of around 6 to 7 USD depending on where you live in the world. The performance is expectedly better and of course you have access to everything the game has to offer.<br/><br/>Overall, as a Tower Defense game, Prime World: Defenders can hold its own with respect to strategy, graphics, animation and sounds. The comics driven story line and the voice-over narration and instructions are awesome for a story driven Real Time Strategy game.
