It argues that the training and strategies several executive members acquired from the military could be used in combating the spread of invisible enemy (Coronavirus). However, a combination of poor policies, ineffective government actions, and counterproductive measures threaten to cause more harm to the Zimbabweans than the pandemic. The paper begins by providing an epistemology of the disease in Zimbabwe, then looks at how the government has responded to the pandemic. It then examines the challenges emerging from the negative impacts of the disease and the government policies on the citizens. Similarly, the Zimbabwean public sector has been equally affected by this pandemic. Using a qualitative methodology the research interrogates the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and proffers ways to deal with its impacts on the Zimbabwean public sector. Data was extensively collected from documentary sources such as books, journals, government publications etc. The study established that the Zimbabwean Health Sector (ZHS) is completely overwhelmed by the pandemic, that there is a decrease in revenue collection, poor social accountability, and corruption and that frontline employees and those working in environments that are exposed to the virus are psychologically affected. The historical background of the ZHS is presented in a chorological manner to show an appreciation of its rise. Documentary reviews and telephone interviews were at the core of the methodological framework. Literature from other nations such as China, Italy, Madagascar, South Africa and Rwanda was evaluated for juxtaposition purpose. The study found ZHS wanting in its awareness capacity, responsive and adaptive capacity, management and operations capacity and centralised approach. Corruption and international isolation are among the quagmires that ZHS is encountering. The research recommends that ZHS should disseminate awareness messages in all languages and strengthen radio coverage in remote areas, government should offer attractive remunerations and promote systematic training and development, there is need for ZHS to decentralise testing, government should strengthen ombudsman offices and government should reorient its relations.</p><div ds2-5-body-sm">The coronavirus has been recorded as one of the most deadliest virus of the 21 st century after the spanish swine flu of the 1940s in the category of flus and the worst pandemic of 1918 that killed approximately 50 million people wolrd wide. The corona virus take 2 – 14 days and in some cases 0 24 days to present itself as well as trigger recovery or futility. However compared to other forms of influenza, other relatively related virus, the discrepancy with SARS is 2 -7 days, which can extend to 10, MERS takes 5 days to present but can extent from 2 – 14 days, swine flu presets in 1 – 4 days that can extend to 7 days and lastly seasonal flu which presents in 2 days but ranging from 1 – 4 days [1, 2]. Therefore the research seeks to establish the current status on corona virus projection in Zimbabwe after implementation of lockdown statutes. The focus is on the different narratives deployed by the mainstream opposition party, the Movement for Democratic Change under Morgan Tsvangirai (MDC-T) and the ruling party, Zimbabwe African National Union -Patriotic Front (ZANU -PF) to explain the causes of, and responses to the cholera epidemic which emerged in the immediate aftermath of the disputed June 2008 presidential runoff. An analyses of how regional governments, especially South Africa, responded to the cholera outbreak is made. The opposition argued that the epidemic was a clear indicator of government’s mismanagement. On the other hand, public intellectuals aligned to ZANU-PF and government ministers invoked conspiracy theories and blamed external forces for the epidemic.
