Azath <A name="3"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-2.htm#aramaic"><b>2</b></a></span>And it was said: “Samson has come here”, and they Lie in wait for him all night at the gate of the city, and they were whispering all night and they said, “When morning dawns we shall kill him!” <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>And Samson slept until the middle of the night, and he arose in the middle of the night, and he took hold on the two posts of the gate of href="/parallel/judges/16-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>And the Tyrants of the Philistines came up to her, and they were saying to her: “Entice him and see in what his great power is, and in what we will master the power, that we may bind him to his shame, and we will give to you, each man, one thousand and three hundred pieces of silver” <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And Daliyala said to Samson: “Show me in what is your great power and by what you are bound and if you may be deprived” <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And Samson said to her, “If they will bind me with seven green bow strings that have not been dried, I will be weakened, and it happens I am as one man” <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And the Tyrants of the Philistines brought up to waited for him in an inner room, and she said to him: “The Philistines have come upon you, Samson!” And he broke off the strings like a cord of linen is broken whenever it smells of fire, and his Daliyala took new chains and she tied him up with them, and she said to him: “The Philistines have come upon you, Samson!” And the ambush waited for him in an inner room, and he broke them off from me lies! Show me by what you may be bound.” And he said to her, “If it is that you weave the seven locks of my head with the weaver’s shuttle” <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And she weaved it with the beam, and she said, “The Philistines have come upon you, Samson!” And he was awakened from his sleep and he took the weaver’s beam and the weaver’s shuttle<p> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And she said to him: “How have you said to me, ‘I love you’, and your heart was not with me? Behold, three times you have lied to me and you have not shown me in what is your great power!” <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And when she pressed him with her words all the days and she urged him, his soul was weary unto death <A name="18"></a><span “Come up therefore, because he has revealed to me all his heart!” And the Tyrants of the Philistines came up to her and they brought up the money with them <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And she made him sleep on her lap, and she called a barber, and she shaved the seven locks of his head, and his weakness began, and his power departed from him <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And she said to him: “The Philistines have come upon you Samson!” And he was awakened from his sleep and he said: “I shall go out as at all times and I will inflict torment on them.” And he did not know that LORD JEHOVAH had removed himself from him <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>And the Philistines seized him and they put out his eyes, and they bound him with chains, and they took him down to Azath, and he was grinding meal in the house of prisoners <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And the hair of his head began to grow when it had been shaven<p> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And the Tyrants of the Philistines were assembled to sacrifice a great sacrifice to Dagun their god in joy, and they were saying: “Our god has delivered Samson our enemy into our hand!”<p> <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And when they saw him, they praised their god, because they said: “Our god has delivered our enemy into our hand, and the destroyer of our for Samson to dance before us!” And they called Samson from the house of prisoners, and he was dancing before them, and they stood him between the pillars <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And Samson said to the boy who held his hand: “Leave me and let me feel the pillars on which the house is set, and I shall lean upon them” href="/parallel/judges/16-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>And Samson called to LORD JEHOVAH and he said: “I beg you LORD JEHOVAH God, remember me and empower me only this time, oh God, that I will which the house rested, and he leaned upon them, one with his right and one with his left <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/16-30.htm#aramaic"><b>30</b></a></span>And Samson said: “Let my life die with the Philistines!” And he pulled by his power and the house fell on the Tyrants and upon all the people that were in it, and the dead who died in the death of Samson
