I came so that they might have life and might have it abundantly.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-11.htm#literal"><b>11</b></a></span>I am the Good (kalos-attractively good) Shepherd (latin-Pastor). The Good Shepherd lays down His soul (life) for the sheep: <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-12.htm#literal"><b>12</b></a></span>And the hired servant not being the shepherd, whose sheep are not his own, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf seizes (harpazei- word for rapture, latin-rapit) them and scatters, <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-13.htm#literal"><b>13</b></a></span>Because he is a hired servant and is not himself concerned about the sheep. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-14.htm#literal"><b>14</b></a></span>I am the Good Shepherd; and I know those who are Mine and I am known by those who are Mine. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-15.htm#literal"><b>15</b></a></span>Just as the Father knows Me, I also know the Father; and I lay down My soul (life) from the sheep. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-16.htm#literal"><b>16</b></a></span>And I have other sheep, which are not from out of this fold; it is necessary for Me to bring those also and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock with one shepherd. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-17.htm#literal"><b>17</b></a></span>Because of this, the Father loves Me, because I lay down My soul (life), so that I might take (receive) it again. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-18.htm#literal"><b>18</b></a></span>No one takes it away from Me, but I lay it down from Myself. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority again to take it. This commandment I received from My Father.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-19.htm#literal"><b>19</b></a></span>There was a division again among the Jews, on account of these words; <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-20.htm#literal"><b>20</b></a></span>And many of them said, He has a demon and is insane (manic, raving mad, latin-insanit); why do you listen to Him? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-21.htm#literal"><b>21</b></a></span>Others said, These sayings (rhemata) are not those of one demonized (under the power of a demon). Is a demon able to open the eyes of the blind?<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-22.htm#literal"><b>22</b></a></span>At that time the Feast of Dedication took place in Jerusalem. It was winter. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-23.htm#literal"><b>23</b></a></span>And Jesus was walking in the temple in the porch of Solomon. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-24.htm#literal"><b>24</b></a></span>The Jews therefore encircled Him and said to Him, Until when do you hold our soul (life) in suspense (lifted up, raised)? If You are the Christ, tell us openly (freely, boldly, plainly, latin-palam-openly). <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-25.htm#literal"><b>25</b></a></span>Jesus answered them, I told you and you do not believe. The works that I do in the name of My Father, these bear witness concerning Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-26.htm#literal"><b>26</b></a></span>But you do not believe because you are not from out of My sheep. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-27.htm#literal"><b>27</b></a></span>My sheep hear My voice and I know them and they follow Me; <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-28.htm#literal"><b>28</b></a></span>And I give them life eternal; and never shall they perish unto the age and never will anyone seize (harpasei- word for rapture) them from out of My hand. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-29.htm#literal"><b>29</b></a></span>My Father who has given them to me is greater than all and no one is able to seize from out of the Father&#8217;s hand. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-30.htm#literal"><b>30</b></a></span>I and the Father are one.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-31.htm#literal"><b>31</b></a></span>The Jews therefore took up stones again so that they might stone Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-32.htm#literal"><b>32</b></a></span>Jesus answered them, Many good works I have shown you from out of the Father; because of which work of these, do you stone Me? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-33.htm#literal"><b>33</b></a></span>The Jews answered Him, We do not stone You concerning a good work, rather concerning blasphemy and because You, being a man, make Yourself God. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-34.htm#literal"><b>34</b></a></span>Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, You are gods? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-35.htm#literal"><b>35</b></a></span>If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came, and the Scripture is not able to be broken, <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-36.htm#literal"><b>36</b></a></span>Do you say of Him whom the Father has sanctified and sent into the world, You blaspheme, because I said, I am the Son of God? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-37.htm#literal"><b>37</b></a></span>If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-38.htm#literal"><b>38</b></a></span>However if I do, even if you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you might know and might continue to know that the Father is in Me and I in the Father. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-39.htm#literal"><b>39</b></a></span>They sought therefore to apprehend him again, and He went from out of their hand,<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/10-40.htm#literal"><b>40</b></a></span>And departed again beyond the Jordan unto the place where John was at first baptizing.
