remedy </h1> </div> <div itemprop="articleBody" class="com-content-article__body"> <p><strong>From 1 April 2022 all those who continue in service will do so as members of the reformed schemes, regardless of age, meaning all members will be treated equally in terms of which pension scheme they are a member of.</strong></p> <p>All currently protected members will be placed in the FPS 2015 for service after 1 April 2022 (the end of the remedy period). As per the basis of protection implemented in 2015, all protected members will have reached normal retirement date in their legacy scheme by 1 April 2022 and will be eligible for immediate retirement if they wish to do so; for those who wish to continue to accrue benefits they will do so as members of the FPS 2015.</p> <p>On 8 November 2021 the Home Office launched a consultation on the amendments to the pension scheme regulations to deliver the first set of changes to remove the transitional protections from the FPS 2015. </p> <p>These changes enact the policy announced in February of this year, and are consequential to the provisions in the <a title="Public Service Pensions & Judicial Offices Bill" href="https://bills.parliament.uk/bills/3032/publications" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Public Service Pensions & Judicial Offices Bill</a> (PSPJO Bill) currently before Parliament. The changes are intended to come into force on 1 April 2022.</p> <p>The second phase will address the issue of giving members a retrospective choice of benefits for the remedy period.
