BOF groups are a way for members of BayCHI with common interests to network with one another:</span><br /><br /> <span class=subheader2>Active BOFs</span><br /> <ul> <li><p>The <a href="/bof/usability/">Design Research BOF</A> The audience for this BOF typically includes: ethnographers, user experience researchers, usability and human factors engineers, designers of user interfaces, and others who affect or are interested in product design." </p></li> <li><p>The <a href="/bof/ixd/">Interaction Design BOF</A> is for <strong>interaction designers</strong> and other professionals who practice or do research in interaction design.</p></li> <li><p>The <a href="/bof/mobile/">Mobile Experiences BOF</A> focuses on delightful and exciting small screen (mobile) experiences.</p></li> <li><p>The <a href="/bof/uxlife/">UX Life and Careers BOF</A> gives fellow UXers a way to connect and help each other along as UX professionals.</p></li> <li><p>The <a href="/bof/uxtools/">UX Tools BOF</A> gives fellow UXers a way to meet with fellow UXers for discussion of UX tools.</p></li> </ul> <br> <span class=subheader2>Inactive BOFs</span><br /> <p>The BOFs listed below are inactive. If you want to revive one of these BOFs, please email the BOF chair.</p> <ul> <li><p> The <a href="/bof/consultant/">Consultant BOF</A> is for professionals in the Bay Area who consult in all areas of human-computer interaction. Students and professionals who are interested in learning about becoming a consultant are also welcome to participate.</p></li> <li><p>The <a href="/bof/east/">East Bay BOF</A> is for <strong>BayCHI's East Bay members</strong> that find it difficult to attend meetings in the South Bay. Meetings are held in the East Bay.</p></li> <li><p> The <a href="/bof/et/">Eye Tracking BOF</A> is for eye tracking professionals , who want to network and further validate eye tracking as a method to evaluate interface usability.</p></li> <li><p>The <a href="/bof/future/">Future Systems BOF</A> explores <strong>new technology</strong> that naturally promotes fluid evolutionary growth towards empowering tools and interaction environments.</p></li> <li><p>The <a href="/bof/japan/">Japan BOF</A> is for all BayCHI members interested in designing, testing, or developing applications for the <strong>Japanese market</strong>. </p></li> <li><p>The <a href="/bof/java/">Java Web Developer BOF</a> is for user interface engineers who use Java to design and develop web applications. </p></li> <li><p>The <a href="/bof/kids/">Kids&#8217; Media BOF</A> is for producers, designers, researchers, and practitioners who work with <strong>children's media</strong>.</p></li> <li><p>The <a href="/bof/north/">North Bay BOF</A> is for <strong>BayCHI's North Bay members</strong> that find it difficult to attend meetings in the South Bay. Meetings are held in the North Bay.</p></li> <li><p> The <a href="/bof/opensource/">Open Source Usability BOF</A> is for usability engineers, human factors engineers, designers/developers of user interfaces, technical writers, quality assurance engineers and others who affect <strong>open source usability</strong>.</p></li> <li><p>The <a href="/bof/student/">Student BOF</A> is an umbrella organization for student HCI research/service groups and individuals. The Student BOF also organizes <strong>Mentoring and Apprenticeship Workshops</strong>.</p></li> <li><p>The <a href="/bof/web/">Web Interface Design BOF</A> is for <strong>Web interface designers</strong>.</p></li> </ul> <p>Each BOF's page includes the latest information about upcoming activities.</p> <span class=subheader2>Starting a new BOF</span></p> All it takes is one person with the desire to make it happen. Most of the current BOFs were started through the initiative of a few individuals. The BayCHI BOF Chair, Lucy Dobler (<a href="/email/?m=ldobler%20baychi.org&s=Starting%20a%20new%20BOF">ldobler&#064;baychi.org</a>), is available to help you get started.</p> <span class=subheader2>BayCHI BOF Support</span></p> The BOF Chair can help with publishing information about new BOFs on the BayCHI web site and in the monthly newsletter. She can assist you with planning your initial BOF meeting.
