Asphaltic concrete is formulated by the Marshall method in Togo, which recommends a storage time of 30 minutes in a thermal bath set at a temperature of 60 ° C. However, the continuous exposure of the surfacing to temperature can last a few minutes to a few hours depending on the season and the thermal cycle. In this study, it is verified the effect of the storage time in a thermal bath on the characteristics of a bituminous mixture of class 50/70 with a serious 0/14. For this, asphaltic concrete samples are manufactured and stored in a thermal bath set at 60° for a time ranging from 30 to 420 minutes. On each sample are determined creep and Marshall stability. It emerges from the results obtained that the characteristics of the asphaltic concrete studied are influenced by the storage time: in fact, an increase in creep and a decrease in stability are The heating of the binder may cause oxidation and stiffening of the binder, hardening of the binder, increase of viscosity and softening temperature. It is necessary to study the influence of overheating on the properties of the bitumen and its impact of the strength of the asphalt concrete. The bitumen binder is heated at different temperatures 1850c, 1950c, 2050c, 2150c, and 2250c for 3-4 hours in an oven and mix design is prepared for each sample at respective temperatures. All tests were performed on dense graded asphalt concrete with identical mineral aggregate. Only type of used bitumen binder varied. Pure bitumens and modified with elastomer SBS were applied. The following properties of bitumen binders were considered: penetration, softening point, Fraas breaking temperature, ductility, penetration index, viscosity, loss after heating, shear modulus G*, phase angle . This properties were tested before and after TFOT and RTFOT. The following properties of asphalt concrete were tested: (a) resistance to rutting: static creep, dynamic creep, wheel tracking, (b) resistance to ageing: resilient modulus and indirect tensile strength before and after short term oven ageing and long term oven ageing, (c) resistance to water and frost: resilient modulus and indirect tensile strength before and after conditioning of mixes in water and after freezing and thawing cycles, (d) low temperature properties in static bending at – 20oC. dengan waktu pengujian) dan faktor lingkungan (suhu dan kelembaban) terhadap kinerja dan durabilitas dari campuran beraspal. Dalam studi ini, untuk mengukur kinerja dari campuran beraspal digunakan beberapa parameter Marshall , seperti Marshall stability , flow , Marshall Quotient (MQ), Void Filled with Asphalt (VFA), Void in the Mix (VIM) dan Void in Mineral Aggregate (VMA).
