Truly<MG281> I say<MG3004> to you, they have<MG568> their reward<MG3408> in full<MG568>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/6-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>But as for you, when you fast<MG3522>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>anoint<MG218> your head<MG2776> and wash<MG3538> your face<MG4383>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/6-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>so<MG3704> that<MG3704> your fasting<MG3522> will not be noticed<MG5316> by people<MG444> but by your Father<MG3962> who<MG3588> is in secret<MG2931a>; and your Father<MG3962> who<MG3588> sees<MG991> <i>what is done</i> in secret<MG2931a> will reward<MG591> you. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/6-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>“Do not store<MG2343> up<MG2343> for yourselves<MG4771> treasures<MG2344> on earth<MG1093>, where<MG3699> moth<MG4597> and rust<MG1035> destroy<MG853>, and where<MG3699> thieves<MG2812> break<MG1358> in<MG1358> and steal<MG2813>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/6-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>But store<MG2343> up<MG2343> for yourselves<MG4771> treasures<MG2344> in heaven<MG3772>, where<MG3699> neither<MG3777> moth<MG4597> nor<MG3777> rust<MG1035> destroys<MG853>, and where<MG3699> thieves<MG2812> do not break<MG1358> in<MG1358> or<MG3761> steal<MG2813>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/6-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>for where<MG3699> your treasure<MG2344> is, there<MG1563> your heart<MG2588> will be also<MG2532>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/6-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>“The eye<MG3788> is the lamp<MG3088> of the body<MG4983>; so<MG3767> then<MG3767>, if<MG1437> your eye<MG3788> is <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>clear<MG573>, your whole<MG3650> body<MG4983> will be full<MG5460> of<MG5460> light<MG5460>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/6-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>But if<MG1437> your eye<MG3788> is <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>bad<MG4190>, your whole<MG3650> body<MG4983> will be full<MG4652> of darkness<MG4652>. So<MG3767> if<MG1487> the light<MG5457> that is in you is darkness<MG4655>, how<MG4214> great<MG4214> is the darkness<MG4655>! <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/6-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>“No<MG3762> one<MG3762> can<MG1410> serve<MG1398> two<MG1417> masters<MG2962>; for either<MG2228> he will hate<MG3404> the one<MG1520> and love<MG25> the other<MG2087>, or<MG2228> he will be devoted<MG472> to one<MG1520> and despise<MG2706> the other<MG2087>. You cannot<MG1410, 3756> serve<MG1398> God<MG2316> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>wealth<MG3126>. <p class="hdg">The Cure for Anxiety</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/6-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>“For this<MG3778> reason<MG1223> I say<MG3004> to you, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>do not be worried<MG3309> about<MG3588> your <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>life<MG5590>, <i>as to</i> what<MG5101> you will eat<MG2068> or<MG2228> what<MG5101> you will drink<MG4095>; nor<MG3366> for your body<MG4983>, <i>as to</i> what<MG5101> you will put<MG1746a> on. Is life<MG5590> not more<MG4183> than food<MG5160>, and the body<MG4983> more<MG4183> than clothing<MG1742>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/6-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>Look<MG1689> at the birds<MG4071> of the sky<MG3772>, that they do not sow<MG4687>, nor<MG3761> reap<MG2325>, nor<MG3761> gather<MG4863> <i>crops</i> into barns<MG596>, and <i>yet</i> your heavenly<MG3770> Father<MG3962> feeds<MG5142> them. Are you not much<MG3123> more<MG1308> important<MG1308> than they? <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/6-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>And which<MG5101> of you by worrying<MG3309> can<MG1410> add<MG4369> a single<MG1520> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>day<MG4083> to his <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>life’s<MG2244> span<MG2244>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/6-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>And why<MG5101> are you worried<MG3309> about<MG4012> clothing<MG1742>?
