<a href ="../1_corinthians/11.htm#17">1 Corinthians 11:17–34</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And when the hour arrived, He sat down and the apostles along with Him. <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And He said to them, <FR>I desired with desire to eat this passover with you before I suffer: for I say to you,<Fr> <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span><FR>I eat this no more, until it may be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.<Fr> <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And receiving the cup, having given thanks, He said, <FR>Take this, and divide it among yourselves;<Fr> <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span><FR>for I say to you, I shall from now drink no more from the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God may come.<Fr> <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>And taking bread, blessing it, He broke it, and gave it to them, saying, <FR>This is my body given for you: do this in remembrance of me.<Fr> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, <FR>This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out in your behalf.<Fr> <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span><FR>Moreover behold, the hand of the one betraying me is with me at the table.<Fr> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span><FR>Indeed the Son of man goes, according to that which has been appointed: but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!<Fr> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>And they began to inquire among themselves, who then of them is the one of them about to do this.<p> <A name="25"></a><p class="hdg">Who Is the Greatest?<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>And there was a contention among them, which one of them seems to be the greater, <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>And He said to them, <FR>The kings of the Gentiles domineer over them; and those exercising authority over them are called Benefactors.<Fr> <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span><FR>But you are not thus: but let the greater among you be as the younger; and the leader as the waiter.<Fr> <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span><FR>For which is the greater, he that sitteth at the table, or the waiter? is not the one sitting? but I am in the midst of you as the waiter.<Fr><p> <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span><FR>But you are those who have remained with me in my temptations.<Fr> <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span><FR>And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father appointed unto me,<Fr> <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span><FR>in order that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom; <a href ="../mark/14.htm#27">Mark 14:27–31</a>; <a href ="../john/13.htm#36">John 13:36–38</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span><FR>Simon, Simon, behold, Satan sought you out, to sift you as wheat:<Fr> <A name="33"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span><FR>but I prayed for you, that your faith may not fail you: and thou, when having turned, strengthen thy brethren:<Fr> <A name="34"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>but he said to Him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee to prison and to death. <A name="35"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>And He said; <FR>I say unto thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.<Fr><p> <A name="36"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>Then He said to them, <FR>When I sent you without purse, and valise, and sandals, did you lack anything?<Fr> And they said; Nothing. <A name="37"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>And He said to them; <FR>But now, let the one having a purse, take it, likewise also valise: and let the one having no sword, sell his cloak and buy one.<Fr> <A name="38"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span><FR>For I say unto you, that it behooves that which has been written to be perfected in me, this, And He was numbered with the transgressors: for indeed that which is concerning me has an end.<Fr> <A name="39"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And His sweat was like drops of blood falling down upon the ground. <A name="46"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-45.htm"><b>45</b></a></span>And having risen from prayer, having come to His disciples, He found them sleeping on account of weariness, <A name="47"></a><span class="red"><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-46.htm"><b>46</b></a></span>and He said to them, <FR>Why do you sleep? And Peter said, Man, I am not. <A name="60"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-59.htm"><b>59</b></a></span>And about one hour having elapsed, a certain other man accosted him, saying, He was truly with Him: for he is a Galilean. <A name="61"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/22-60.htm"><b>60</b></a></span>And Peter said, Man, I know Him not.
