The main goal of our work is to obtain the ranges of pitch parameter values typical for Tuvinian speakers for the purpose of automatic language identification. We also propose a cross-gender analysis of declarative intonation in the poorly studied Tuvinian language. The ranges of pitch parameter values were obtained by means of specially developed software that deals with the distribution of pitch values and allows us to obtain statistical language-specific pitch intervals. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=speech%20analysis" title="speech analysis">speech analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=statistical%20analysis" title=" statistical analysis"> statistical analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=speaker%20recognition" title=" speaker recognition"> speaker recognition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=identification%20of%20person" title=" identification of person"> identification of person</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8047/a-cross-gender-statistical-analysis-of-tuvinian-intonation-features-in-comparison-with-uzbek-and-azerbaijani" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8047.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">347</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2644</span> Maximum Likelihood Estimation Methods on a Two-Parameter Rayleigh Distribution under Progressive Type-Ii Censoring</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Daniel%20Fundi%20Murithi">Daniel Fundi Murithi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Data from economic, social, clinical, and industrial studies are in some way incomplete or incorrect due to censoring. Such data may have adverse effects if used in the estimation problem. We propose the use of Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) under a progressive type-II censoring scheme to remedy this problem. In particular, maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) for the location (µ) and scale (λ) parameters of two Parameter Rayleigh distribution are realized under a progressive type-II censoring scheme using the Expectation-Maximization (EM) and the Newton-Raphson (NR) algorithms. These algorithms are used comparatively because they iteratively produce satisfactory results in the estimation problem. The progressively type-II censoring scheme is used because it allows the removal of test units before the termination of the experiment. Approximate asymptotic variances and confidence intervals for the location and scale parameters are derived/constructed. The efficiency of EM and the NR algorithms is compared given root mean squared error (RMSE), bias, and the coverage rate. The simulation study showed that in most sets of simulation cases, the estimates obtained using the Expectation-maximization algorithm had small biases, small variances, narrower/small confidence intervals width, and small root of mean squared error compared to those generated via the Newton-Raphson (NR) algorithm. Further, the analysis of a real-life data set (data from simple experimental trials) showed that the Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm performs better compared to Newton-Raphson (NR) algorithm in all simulation cases under the progressive type-II censoring scheme. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=expectation-maximization%20algorithm" title="expectation-maximization algorithm">expectation-maximization algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=maximum%20likelihood%20estimation" title=" maximum likelihood estimation"> maximum likelihood estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Newton-Raphson%20method" title=" Newton-Raphson method"> Newton-Raphson method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=two-parameter%20Rayleigh%20distribution" title=" two-parameter Rayleigh distribution"> two-parameter Rayleigh distribution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=progressive%20type-II%20censoring" title=" progressive type-II censoring"> progressive type-II censoring</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122112/maximum-likelihood-estimation-methods-on-a-two-parameter-rayleigh-distribution-under-progressive-type-ii-censoring" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122112.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">163</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2643</span> Study on the Pavement Structural Performance of Highways in the North China Region Based on Pavement Distress and Ground Penetrating Radar</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mingwei%20Yi">Mingwei Yi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Liujie%20Guo"> Liujie Guo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zongjun%20Pan"> Zongjun Pan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiang%20Lin"> Xiang Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiaoming%20Yi"> Xiaoming Yi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With the rapid expansion of road construction mileage in China, the scale of road maintenance needs has concurrently escalated. As the service life of roads extends, the design of pavement repair and maintenance emerges as a crucial component in preserving the excellent performance of the pavement. The remaining service life of asphalt pavement structure is a vital parameter in the lifecycle maintenance design of asphalt pavements. Based on an analysis of pavement structural integrity, this study introduces a characterization and assessment of the remaining life of existing asphalt pavement structures. It proposes indicators such as the transverse crack spacing and the length of longitudinal cracks. The transverse crack spacing decreases with an increase in maintenance intervals and with the extended use of semi-rigid base layer structures, although this trend becomes less pronounced after maintenance intervals exceed 4 years. The length of longitudinal cracks increases with longer maintenance intervals, but this trend weakens after five years. This system can support the enhancement of standardization and scientific design in highway maintenance decision-making processes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20integrity" title="structural integrity">structural integrity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=highways" title=" highways"> highways</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pavement%20evaluation" title=" pavement evaluation"> pavement evaluation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asphalt%20concrete%20pavement" title=" asphalt concrete pavement"> asphalt concrete pavement</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/181500/study-on-the-pavement-structural-performance-of-highways-in-the-north-china-region-based-on-pavement-distress-and-ground-penetrating-radar" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/181500.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">70</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2642</span> On Confidence Intervals for the Difference between Inverse of Normal Means with Known Coefficients of Variation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arunee%20Wongkhao">Arunee Wongkhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Suparat%20Niwitpong"> Suparat Niwitpong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sa-aat%20Niwitpong"> Sa-aat Niwitpong </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we propose two new confidence intervals for the difference between the inverse of normal means with known coefficients of variation. Monte Carlo simulation study is used to evaluate the performance, coverage probability and expected length, of these confidence intervals. The results indicate that values of coverage probabilities of the new confidence interval based on Wald and Score are satisfied the nominal coverage and close to nominal level 0.95 in various situations, particularly, the former proposed confidence interval is better when sample sizes are small. Moreover, the expected lengths of the proposed confidence intervals are nearly difference when sample sizes are moderate to large. Therefore, in this study, the confidence interval for the difference of coefficients of variation which based on Wald is preferable than the other one confidence interval. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=confidence%20interval" title="confidence interval">confidence interval</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=score%E2%80%99s%20interval" title=" score’s interval"> score’s interval</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wald%E2%80%99s%20interval" title=" wald’s interval"> wald’s interval</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coefficient%20of%20variation" title=" coefficient of variation"> coefficient of variation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gamma%20distribution" title=" gamma distribution"> gamma distribution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=simulation%20study" title=" simulation study"> simulation study</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29254/asymptotic-confidence-intervals-for-the-difference-of-coefficients-of-variation-in-gamma-distributions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29254.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">427</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2640</span> On Coverage Probability of Confidence Intervals for the Normal Mean with Known Coefficient of Variation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Suparat%20Niwitpong">Suparat Niwitpong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sa-aat%20Niwitpong"> Sa-aat Niwitpong</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Statistical inference of normal mean with known coefficient of variation has been investigated recently. To confirm our theoretical results, Monte Carlo simulation will be used to assess the performance of these intervals based on their coverage probabilities. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=confidence%20interval" title="confidence interval">confidence interval</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coverage%20probability" title=" coverage probability"> coverage probability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=expected%20length" title=" expected length"> expected length</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=known%0D%0Acoefficient%20of%20variation" title=" known coefficient of variation"> known coefficient of variation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11176/on-coverage-probability-of-confidence-intervals-for-the-normal-mean-with-known-coefficient-of-variation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11176.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">393</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2639</span> Keyloggers Prevention with Time-Sensitive Obfuscation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chien-Wei%20Hung">Chien-Wei Hung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fu-Hau%20Hsu"> Fu-Hau Hsu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chuan-Sheng%20Wang"> Chuan-Sheng Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chia-Hao%20Lee"> Chia-Hao Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nowadays, the abuse of keyloggers is one of the most widespread approaches to steal sensitive information. In this paper, we propose an On-Screen Prompts Approach to Keyloggers (OSPAK) and its analysis, which is installed in public computers. OSPAK utilizes a canvas to cue users when their keystrokes are going to be logged or ignored by OSPAK. This approach can protect computers against recoding sensitive inputs, which obfuscates keyloggers with letters inserted among users' keystrokes. It adds a canvas below each password field in a webpage and consists of three parts: two background areas, a hit area and a moving foreground object. Letters at different valid time intervals are combined in accordance with their time interval orders, and valid time intervals are interleaved with invalid time intervals. It utilizes animation to visualize valid time intervals and invalid time intervals, which can be integrated in a webpage as a browser extension. We have tested it against a series of known keyloggers and also performed a study with 95 users to evaluate how easily the tool is used. Experimental results made by volunteers show that OSPAK is a simple approach. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=authentication" title="authentication">authentication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computer%20security" title=" computer security"> computer security</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=keylogger" title=" keylogger"> keylogger</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=privacy" title=" privacy"> privacy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20leakage" title=" information leakage"> information leakage</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/125947/keyloggers-prevention-with-time-sensitive-obfuscation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/125947.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">122</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2638</span> Efficient Tuning Parameter Selection by Cross-Validated Score in High Dimensional Models</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yoonsuh%20Jung">Yoonsuh Jung</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> As DNA microarray data contain relatively small sample size compared to the number of genes, high dimensional models are often employed. In high dimensional models, the selection of tuning parameter (or, penalty parameter) is often one of the crucial parts of the modeling. Cross-validation is one of the most common methods for the tuning parameter selection, which selects a parameter value with the smallest cross-validated score. However, selecting a single value as an "optimal" value for the parameter can be very unstable due to the sampling variation since the sample sizes of microarray data are often small. Our approach is to choose multiple candidates of tuning parameter first, then average the candidates with different weights depending on their performance. The additional step of estimating the weights and averaging the candidates rarely increase the computational cost, while it can considerably improve the traditional cross-validation. We show that the selected value from the suggested methods often lead to stable parameter selection as well as improved detection of significant genetic variables compared to the tradition cross-validation via real data and simulated data sets. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cross%20validation" title="cross validation">cross validation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parameter%20averaging" title=" parameter averaging"> parameter averaging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parameter%20selection" title=" parameter selection"> parameter selection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=regularization%20parameter%20search" title=" regularization parameter search"> regularization parameter search</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36409/efficient-tuning-parameter-selection-by-cross-validated-score-in-high-dimensional-models" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36409.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">415</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2637</span> Parameter Selection for Computationally Efficient Use of the Bfvrns Fully Homomorphic Encryption Scheme</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cavidan%20Yakupoglu">Cavidan Yakupoglu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kurt%20Rohloff"> Kurt Rohloff</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, we aim to provide a novel parameter selection model for the BFVrns scheme, which is one of the prominent FHE schemes. Parameter selection in lattice-based FHE schemes is a practical challenges for experts or non-experts. Towards a solution to this problem, we introduce a hybrid principles-based approach that combines theoretical with experimental analyses. To begin, we use regression analysis to examine the parameters on the performance and security. The fact that the FHE parameters induce different behaviors on performance, security and Ciphertext Expansion Factor (CEF) that makes the process of parameter selection more challenging. To address this issue, We use a multi-objective optimization algorithm to select the optimum parameter set for performance, CEF and security at the same time. As a result of this optimization, we get an improved parameter set for better performance at a given security level by ensuring correctness and security against lattice attacks by providing at least 128-bit security. Our result enables average ~ 5x smaller CEF and mostly better performance in comparison to the parameter sets given in [1]. This approach can be considered a semiautomated parameter selection. However, the evidence on whether system 2 is associated with utilitarian judgments in self-sacrificial dilemmas is more mixed. We employed process dissociation to measure a self-sacrificial utilitarian (SU) parameter and an other-sacrificial (OU) utilitarian parameter. It was initially predicted that contra Greene, the cognitive reflection test (CRT) would only be positively correlated with the OU parameter and not the SU parameter. However, Greene’s hypothesis was corroborated: the CRT positively correlated with both the OU parameter and the SU parameter. By contrast, the CRT did not correlate with the other two moral parameters we extracted (altruism and deontology). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dual-process%20model" title="dual-process model">dual-process model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=utilitarianism" title=" utilitarianism"> utilitarianism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=altruism" title=" altruism"> altruism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reason" title=" reason"> reason</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emotion" title=" emotion"> emotion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=process%20dissociation" title=" process dissociation"> process dissociation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148724/bleeding-heart-altruists-and-calculating-utilitarians-applying-process-dissociation-to-self-sacrificial-dilemmas" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148724.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">153</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2633</span> Robust Stabilization of Rotational Motion of Underwater Robots against Parameter Uncertainties</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Riku%20Hayashida">Riku Hayashida</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomoaki%20Hashimoto"> Tomoaki Hashimoto</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper provides a robust stabilization method for rotational motion of underwater robots against parameter uncertainties. Employing this measure for 5 minute intervals, a U-shaped intraday pattern of probability of informed trades (PIN) is found for the CSI300 stocks, which is consistent with previous findings for other markets. However, while dividing the trades into different sizes, a reversed U-shaped PIN from large-sized trades, opposed to the U-shaped pattern for small- and medium-sized trades, is observed. Drawing from the mixed evidence with different trade sizes, the price impact of trades is further investigated. By examining the relationship between trade imbalances and unexpected returns, larges-sized trades are found to have significant price impact. This implies that in those intervals with large trades, it is non-contrarian trades that are more likely to be informed trades. Taking account of the price impact of large-sized trades, non-contrarian trades are used to proxy for informed trading in those intervals with large trades, and contrarian trades are still used to measure informed trading in other intervals. A stronger U-shaped PIN is demonstrated from this modification. Auto-correlation and information advantage tests for robustness also support the modified informed trading measure. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=contrarian%20trades" title="contrarian trades">contrarian trades</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=informed%20trading" title=" informed trading"> informed trading</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=price%20impact" title=" price impact"> price impact</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=trade%20imbalance" title=" trade imbalance"> trade imbalance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88349/reexamining-contrarian-trades-as-a-proxy-of-informed-trades-evidence-from-chinas-stock-market" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88349.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">165</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2631</span> Efficient High Fidelity Signal Reconstruction Based on Level Crossing Sampling</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Negar%20Riazifar">Negar Riazifar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nigel%20G.%20Stocks"> Nigel G. Specifically, the results indicate that the distribution of the intervals between samples is one of the key factors in the quality of signal reconstruction; including samples with short intervals do not improve the accuracy of the signal reconstruction, whilst samples with large intervals lead to numerical instability. The proposed sampling method, termed reduced conventional level crossing (RCLC) sampling, exploits redundancy between samples to improve the efficiency of the sampling without compromising performance. A reconstruction technique is also proposed that enhances the numerical stability through linear interpolation of samples separated by large intervals. Interpolation is demonstrated to improve the accuracy of the signal reconstruction in addition to the numerical stability. We further demonstrate that the RCLC and interpolation methods can give useful levels of signal recovery even if the average sampling rate is less than the Nyquist rate. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=level%20crossing%20sampling" title="level crossing sampling">level crossing sampling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=numerical%20stability" title=" numerical stability"> numerical stability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=speech%20processing" title=" speech processing"> speech processing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=trigonometric%20polynomial" title=" trigonometric polynomial"> trigonometric polynomial</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/134973/efficient-high-fidelity-signal-reconstruction-based-on-level-crossing-sampling" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/134973.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">146</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2630</span> Method of Parameter Calibration for Error Term in Stochastic User Equilibrium Traffic Assignment Model</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiang%20Zhang">Xiang Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=David%20Rey"> David Rey</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20Travis%20Waller"> S. In two-phase sampling, samples are selected in phases. In the first phase, a relatively large sample of size is selected by some suitable sampling design and only information on the auxiliary variable is collected. During the second phase, a sample of size is selected either from, the sample selected in the first phase or from the entire population by using a suitable sampling design and information regarding the study and auxiliary variable is collected. Evidently, two phase sampling is useful if the auxiliary information is relatively easy and cheaper to collect than the study variable as well as if the strength of the relationship between the variables and is high. If the sample is selected in more than two phases, the resulting sampling design is called a multi-phase sampling. In this article we will consider how one can use data collected at the first phase sampling at the stages of estimation of the parameter, stratification, selection of sample and their combinations in the second phase in a unified setup applicable to any sampling design and wider classes of estimators. The problem of the estimation of variance will also be considered. The variance of estimator is essential for estimating precision of the survey estimates, calculation of confidence intervals, determination of the optimal sample sizes and for testing of hypotheses amongst others. Although, the variance is a non-negative quantity but its estimators may not be non-negative. If the estimator of variance is negative, then it cannot be used for estimation of confidence intervals, testing of hypothesis or measure of sampling error. The non-negativity properties of the variance estimators will also be studied in details. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=auxiliary%20information" title="auxiliary information">auxiliary information</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=two-phase%20sampling" title=" two-phase sampling"> two-phase sampling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=varying%20probability%20sampling" title=" varying probability sampling"> varying probability sampling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unbiased%20estimators" title=" unbiased estimators"> unbiased estimators</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36087/methods-of-variance-estimation-in-two-phase-sampling" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36087.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">588</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2628</span> Vibration of a Beam on an Elastic Foundation Using the Variational Iteration Method</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Desmond%20Adair">Desmond Adair</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kairat%20Ismailov"> Kairat Ismailov</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Martin%20Jaeger"> Martin Jaeger</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Modelling of Timoshenko beams on elastic foundations has been widely used in the analysis of buildings, geotechnical problems, and, railway and aerospace structures. For the elastic foundation, the most widely used models are one-parameter mechanical models or two-parameter models to include continuity and cohesion of typical foundations, with the two-parameter usually considered the better of the two. Knowledge of free vibration characteristics of beams on an elastic foundation is considered necessary for optimal design solutions in many engineering applications, and in this work, the efficient and accurate variational iteration method is developed and used to calculate natural frequencies of a Timoshenko beam on a two-parameter foundation. The variational iteration method is a technique capable of dealing with some linear and non-linear problems in an easy and efficient way. The calculations are compared with those using a finite-element method and other analytical solutions, and it is shown that the results are accurate and are obtained efficiently. It is found that the effect of the presence of the two-parameter foundation is to increase the beam’s natural frequencies and this is thought to be because of the shear-layer stiffness, which has an effect on the elastic stiffness. By setting the two-parameter model’s stiffness parameter to zero, it is possible to obtain a one-parameter foundation model, and so, comparison between the two foundation models is also made. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Timoshenko%20beam" title="Timoshenko beam">Timoshenko beam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=variational%20iteration%20method" title=" variational iteration method"> variational iteration method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=two-parameter%20elastic%20foundation%20model" title=" two-parameter elastic foundation model"> two-parameter elastic foundation model</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95779/vibration-of-a-beam-on-an-elastic-foundation-using-the-variational-iteration-method" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95779.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">194</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2627</span> Effects of Irrigation Intervals on Antioxidant Enzyme Activity in Black Carrot Leaves (Daucus carota L.)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hakan%20Arslan">Hakan Arslan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Deniz%20Ekinci"> Deniz Ekinci</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alper%20Gungor"> Alper Gungor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gurkan%20Bilir"> Gurkan Bilir</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Omer%20Tas"> Omer Tas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mehmet%20Altun"> Mehmet Altun</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Drought is one of the major abiotic stresses affecting the agricultural production worldwide. The non-linear partial differential equations of momentum, angular velocity, energy, and concentration are converted into ordinary differential equations using similarity transformations which can be solved numerically. The dimensionless governing equations are solved by using Runge Kutta fourth and fifth order along with the shooting method. The effect of physical parameters viz., micropolar parameter, unsteadiness parameter, thermal buoyancy parameter, concentration buoyancy parameter, Hartmann number, spin gradient viscosity parameter, microinertial density parameter, thermal radiation parameter, Prandtl number, Eckert number, heat generation or absorption parameter, Schmidt number and chemical reaction parameter on flow variables viz., the velocity of the micropolar fluid, microrotation, temperature, and concentration has been analyzed and discussed graphically. MATLAB code is used to analyze numerical and theoretical facts. From the simulation study, it can be concluded that an increment of micropolar parameter, Hartmann number, unsteadiness parameter, thermal and concentration buoyancy parameter results in decrement of velocity flow of micropolar fluid; microrotation of micropolar fluid decreases with an increment of micropolar parameter, unsteadiness parameter, microinertial density parameter, and spin gradient viscosity parameter; temperature profile of micropolar fluid decreases with an increment of thermal radiation parameter, Prandtl number, micropolar parameter, unsteadiness parameter, heat absorption, and viscous dissipation parameter; concentration of micropolar fluid decreases as unsteadiness parameter, Schmidt number and chemical reaction parameter increases. Furthermore, computational values of local skin friction coefficient, local wall coupled coefficient, local Nusselt number, and local Sherwood number for different values of parameters have been investigated. In this paper, the following important results are obtained; An increment of micropolar parameter and Hartmann number results in a decrement of velocity flow of micropolar fluid. Microrotation decreases with an increment of the microinertial density parameter. Temperature decreases with an increasing value of the thermal radiation parameter and viscous dissipation parameter. Concentration decreases as the values of Schmidt number and chemical reaction parameter increases. The coefficient of local skin friction is enhanced with an increase in values of both the unsteadiness parameter and micropolar parameter. Increasing values of unsteadiness parameter and micropolar parameter results in an increment of the local couple stress. An increment of values of unsteadiness parameter and thermal radiation parameter results in an increment of the rate of heat transfer. As the values of Schmidt number and unsteadiness parameter increases, Sherwood number decreases. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20radiation" title="thermal radiation">thermal radiation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chemical%20reaction" title=" chemical reaction"> chemical reaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=viscous%20dissipation" title=" viscous dissipation"> viscous dissipation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heat%20absorption%2F%20generation" title=" heat absorption/ generation"> heat absorption/ generation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=similarity%20transformation" title=" similarity transformation"> similarity transformation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155297/the-influence-of-thermal-radiation-and-chemical-reaction-on-mhd-micropolar-fluid-in-the-presence-of-heat-generationabsorption" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155297.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">128</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2625</span> The Hansen Solubility Parameters of Some Lignosulfonates</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bernt%20O.%20Myrvold">Bernt O. On the base of the Geomechanical model (GMM), a methodology was developed for sweet spot intervals and zones for drilling horizontal wells with hydraulic fracturing. Based on mechanical rock typification, eight mechanical rock types (MRT) have been identified. Sweet spot intervals are represented by siliceous-carbonate (2), siliceous (5) and carbonate (8) MRT that have the greatest brittleness index (BRIT). A correlation has been established between the thickness of brittle intervals and the initial well production rates, which makes it possible to identify sweet spot zones for drilling horizontal wells with hydraulic fracturing. Brittle and ductile intervals are separated by a BRIT cut-off of 0.4 since wells located at points with BRIT < 0.4 have insignificant rates (less than 2 m³/day). Wells with an average BRIT in BAUF of more than 0.4 reach industrial production rates. The next application of GMM is associated with the instability of the overburdened clay formation above the top of the BAUF. According to the wellbore stability analysis, the recommended mud weight for this formation must be not less than 1.53–1.55 g/cc. The optimal direction for horizontal wells corresponds to the azimuth of Shmin equal to 70-80°. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unconventional%20reservoirs" title="unconventional reservoirs">unconventional reservoirs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geomechanics" title=" geomechanics"> geomechanics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sweet%20spot%20zones" title=" sweet spot zones"> sweet spot zones</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=borehole%20stability" title=" borehole stability"> borehole stability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/181212/application-of-a-geomechanical-model-to-justify-the-exploitation-of-bazhenov-abalak-formation-western-siberia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/181212.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">67</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2622</span> Parameter Tuning of Complex Systems Modeled in Agent Based Modeling and Simulation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rabia%20Korkmaz%20Tan">Rabia Korkmaz Tan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C5%9Eebnem%20Bora"> Şebnem Bora</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The major problem encountered when modeling complex systems with agent-based modeling and simulation techniques is the existence of large parameter spaces. A complex system model cannot be expected to reflect the whole of the real system, but by specifying the most appropriate parameters, the actual system can be represented by the model under certain conditions. When the studies conducted in recent years were reviewed, it has been observed that there are few studies for parameter tuning problem in agent based simulations, and these studies have focused on tuning parameters of a single model. In this study, an approach of parameter tuning is proposed by using metaheuristic algorithms such as Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Artificial Bee Colonies (ABC), Firefly (FA) algorithms. With this hybrid structured study, the parameter tuning problems of the models in the different fields were solved. The new approach offered was tested in two different models, and its achievements in different problems were compared. The simulations and the results reveal that this proposed study is better than the existing parameter tuning studies. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parameter%20tuning" title="parameter tuning">parameter tuning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=agent%20based%20modeling%20and%20simulation" title=" agent based modeling and simulation"> agent based modeling and simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metaheuristic%20algorithms" title=" metaheuristic algorithms"> metaheuristic algorithms</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=complex%20systems" title=" complex systems"> complex systems</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77307/parameter-tuning-of-complex-systems-modeled-in-agent-based-modeling-and-simulation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77307.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">226</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2621</span> Optimization of a Cone Loudspeaker Parameter of Design Parameters by Analysis of a Narrow Acoustic Sound Pathway </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yue%20Hu">Yue Hu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xilu%20Zhao"> Xilu Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Takao%20Yamaguchi"> Takao Yamaguchi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manabu%20Sasajima"> Manabu Sasajima</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yoshio%20Koike"> Yoshio Koike</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Akira%20Hara"> Akira Hara</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study tried optimization of design parameter of a cone loudspeaker unit as an example of the high flexibility of the products design. Academic and industrial circles are taking keen interest in the field of manufacturing strategy. Many manufacturing strategies are currently centered on the traditional concepts of focused manufacturing capabilities such as quality, cost, dependability and innovation. Process capability indices was conducted assuming that the process under study is in statistical control and independent observations are generated over time. However, in practice, it is very common to come across processes which, due to their inherent natures, generate autocorrelated observations. The degree of autocorrelation affects the behavior of patterns on control charts. Even, small levels of autocorrelation between successive observations can have considerable effects on the statistical properties of conventional control charts. When observations are autocorrelated the classical control charts exhibit nonrandom patterns and lack of control. Many authors have considered the effect of autocorrelation on the performance of statistical process control charts. In this paper, the effect of autocorrelation on confidence intervals for different PCIs was included. Stationary Gaussian processes is explained. Effect of autocorrelation on PCIs is described in detail. Confidence intervals for Cp and Cpk are constructed for PCIs when data are both independent and autocorrelated. Confidence intervals for Cp and Cpk are computed. Approximate lower confidence limits for various Cpk are computed assuming AR(1) model for the data. Brain dynamics are analysed using the relative intersection of confidence intervals for the imaginary component of the complex Pearson correlation coefficient method (RICI-imCPCC). The RICI-imCPCC method overcomes the shortcomings of currently used dynamical connectivity analysis methods, such as the low reliability and low temporal precision for short connectivity intervals encountered in constant sliding window analysis with wide window size and the high susceptibility to noise encountered in constant sliding window analysis with narrow window size. This method overcomes these shortcomings by dynamically adjusting the window size using the RICI rule. This method extracts information about brain connections for each time sample. Seventy percent of the extracted brain connectivity information is used for training and thirty percent for validation. Classification of the target word is also done and based on the same analysis method. As far as we know, through this research, we have shown for the first time that dynamic connectivity can be used as a parameter for classifying EEG signals. <p
