I was trying to see how far I could get reconciling Irish townlands mentioned in an older database of ecclesiastical sites to Wikidata items. By 'reconcile' I mean what <a rel="nofollow" class="external text" href="https://openrefine.org/docs/manual/reconciling">OpenRefine means by that term</a>. As you know, Wikidata is not yet complete and it's often unclear from the description exactly which townland of a particular name is intended, making it hard to match them up accurately. </p><p>An issue I'm currently facing is a structural discrepancy between Logainm and Wikidata. Townlands can exist across civil parish boundaries, just as parishes can straddle multiple baronies. Some exceptions aside, Logainm tends to treat such parishes and I presume, townlands as separate items. But the situation on Wikidata is much more confused. Sometimes they are conflated, sometimes they are not and sometimes the conflation is puzzling: for instance, <a href="/wiki/Q104354393" title="Q104354393">Item:Q104354393</a> is matched to three townlands recorded by Logainm, Glebe in par. Tickmacrevan (bar. Glenarm Lower), Glebe in par. Layd (same barony) and Glebe in par. Derrykeighan (Dunluce Lower).
