<A name="3"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/5-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>able to bear with the ignorant and erring, since he himself also is encompassed with infirmity; <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/5-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>and, on account of it, he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to make offering for sins. <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/5-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>And no one takes the honor to himself, but, when called by God, as was also Aaron.<p> <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/5-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>Thus Christ also glorified not Himself to become a high priest, but He Who spake to Him, "Thou art My Son, this day have I begotten Thee";<p> <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/5-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>as also, in another <i>place</i>, He saith, "Thou art a Priest forever according to the rank of Melchizedek";<p> <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/5-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Who, in the days of His flesh, having offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears to Him Who was able to save Him from death, and having been heard by reason of His godly fear, <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/5-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>though He was a Son, learned obedience from the things which He suffered; <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/5-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>and, having been made perfect, He became the Author of eternal life to all who obey Him; <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/5-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>having been addressed by God <i>as</i> "High Priest according to the rank of Melchizedek."<p> <A name="12"></a><p class="hdg">Milk and Solid Food<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../1_corinthians/3.htm">1 Corinthians 3:1–9</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/5-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Concerning Whom we have much to say and difficult to explain, since ye have become dull of hearing. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/5-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>For even when, on account of the time, ye ought to be teachers, ye again have need that some one teach you the first elements of the oracles of God, and have become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food;
