We offer three or four year bachelor programmes, leading to a bachelor’s degree, and one-and-a-half year or two-year master programmes, leading to a master’s degree. The traditional Czech title is Ing. or Ing. arch., but the diploma makes clear that this is equivalent to a master’s degree. Doctoral study programmes last three or four years, and lead to a PhD degree.</div></div></div> </div> </div> <article class="node node-static-page clearfix"> <div class="content"> <div class="field field-name-field-content field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Founded in 1707, CTU in Prague is one of the largest and oldest technical universities in the world. There are over 17,800 students studying in our faculties and higher education institutes.</p> <ul> <li>We are a modern university with over 300 years of tradition.</li> <li>We are rated among the top 25 per cent of best-ranked universities in QS World University Rankings 2022, which evaluated 1673 universities in 93 countries. Our overall position in the rankings is 403rd place. The Czech Technical University in Prague was joined in the top 25% of the rankings by two other Czech universities – Charles University in Prague, and the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague.</li> <li>We are a member of the EuroTeQ consortium of prestigious technical universities.</li> <li>We offer 227 study programs that are sought out by 21st century students and employers. Ninety-four of the programs are delivered are in a foreign language (mainly English). There are 18 double degree programs at master's level, which are currently attended by 145 students. <a href="http://www.studyatctu.com/">Visit the Study at CTU website</a> to see the list of programs and general information about student life in Prague.</li> <li>CTU is a brand name that resonates at home and abroad.</li> <li>During their studies, CTU students can travel abroad to study, do research or participate in events at prestigious foreign universities. CTU has agreements with more than 300 partner universities and institutions.</li> <li>We teach future engineers to think logically and creatively.</li> <li>A degree awarded by CTU means something and is a mark of quality.</li> <li>We have state-of-the-art laboratories in which students take classes or can work on their final projects.</li> <li>Technical studies are not just for boys.</li> <li>We are not based only Prague. Some of our faculties have teaching facilities outside Prague, in Kladno and in Děčín.</li> <li>Dormitory accommodation is offered for foreign students, always within a campus where there is a student canteen.</li> <li>Well-motivated and hard-working students can apply for a scholarship for meritorious study results and for special purposes and special events.</li> <li>During the semester, foreign exchange students can enrol in the so-called Buddy program. Within the buddy program, the International Student Club (ISC) allocates a buddy who volunteers to help new students to settle at the university and in Prague.</li> <li>Orientation Week is held every semester to introduce foreign students to basic information about studying at CTU. Orientation week provides opportunities to participate in and integrate with the CTU student community.</li> <li>Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, with interesting architecture and a rich history. The main CTU campus, on which most of the faculties are located, is not far from the city centre, 15 minutes on foot from Prague Castle and from the spectacular Lesser Quarter district, which lies between the castle and the river.</li> <li>The main university campus is within walking distance of several the university dormitories, and the other dormitories can be reached within 30 minutes on city public transport.</li> </ul> <p>The oldest CTU faculties are the <a href="https://www.cvut.cz/en/faculty-of-civil-engineering">Faculties of Civil Engineering</a>, <a href="https://www.cvut.cz/en/faculty-of-mechanical-engineering">Mechanical Engineering</a>, <a href="https://www.cvut.cz/en/faculty-of-electrical-engineering">Electrical Engineering</a>, and <a href="https://www.cvut.cz/en/faculty-of-nuclear-sciences-and-physical-engineering">Nuclear Science and Physical Engineering</a>. These older faculties were joined by the <a href="https://www.cvut.cz/en/faculty-of-architecture">Faculties of Architecture</a> and <a href="https://www.cvut.cz/en/faculty-of-transportation-sciences">Transportation Sciences</a>, and the youngest faculties are the <a href="https://www.cvut.cz/en/faculty-of-biomedical-engineering">Faculties of Biomedical Engineering</a> and <a href="https://www.cvut.cz/en/faculty-of-information-technology">Information Technology</a>. You can also study at the <a href="https://www.cvut.cz/en/masaryk-institute-of-advanced-studies">Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies</a> or at the <a href="https://www.cvut.cz/en/klokner-institute">Klokner Institute</a>.</p> <p>Each of the faculties and university institutes sets its own <a href="https://www.cvut.cz/en/entrance-procedures">conditions for admission</a>.</p> <p>We offer every student the opportunity to <a href="https://www.cvut.cz/en/studying-abroad">study in Europe and in other parts the world</a> as an integral part of their study program, without necessarily prolonging their studies.</p> <p>Students can study abroad repeatedly. Each doctoral student spends at least one month studying or carrying out research abroad.</p> <p>The <a href="https://www.cvut.cz/en/guidance-and-support-centre-for-students-with-special-needs-elsa">ELSA support centre for students</a> provides services to help students with special needs to succeed in their studies. A range of adjustments can be made to a student’s learning environment and course of studies.</p> <p>CTU in Prague holds the prestigious Diploma Supplement Label award. This means that all our graduates will automatically and free-of-charge receive an additional Czech-English language supplementary university diploma that presents your achievements at the university in an internationally-understandable form.</p> <p>During your studies, you can participate in a wide range of activities coordinated by the <a href="https://su.cvut.cz/cs">CTU Student Union</a>, and in competitions, events and seminars.
