Discontinuity between different motions is one of the challenging problem in flow estimation. In this paper, we design a new anisotropic diffusion operator, which is able to provide smooth flow over a region and efficiently preserve discontinuity in optical flow. This operator is designed on the basis of intensity differences of the pixels and isotropic operator using exponential function. The combination of these are used to control the propagation of flow. Experimental results on the different datasets verify the robustness and accuracy of the algorithm and also validate the effect of anisotropic operator in the discontinuity preserving. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optical%20flow" title="optical flow">optical flow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=variational%20methods" title=" variational methods"> variational methods</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computer%20vision" title=" computer vision"> computer vision</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anisotropic%20operator" title=" anisotropic operator"> anisotropic operator</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20827/anisotropic-approach-for-discontinuity-preserving-in-optical-flow-estimation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20827.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">873</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1781</span> A C/T Polymorphism at the 5’ Untranslated Region of CD40 Gene in Patients Associated with Graves’ Disease in Kumaon Region</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sanjeev%20Kumar%20Shukla">Sanjeev Kumar Shukla</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Govind%20Singh"> Govind Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prabhat%20Pant%20%20%20%20%20%20Shahzad%20Ahmad"> Prabhat Pant Shahzad Ahmad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Graves’ disease is an autoimmune disorder with a genetic predisposition, and CD40 plays a pathogenic role in various autoimmune diseases. A single nucleotide polymorphism at position –1 of the Kozak sequence of the 5 untranslated regions of the CD40 gene of exon 1 has been reported to be associated with the development of Graves’ Disease. Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate whether CD40 gene polymorphism confers susceptibility to Graves’ disease in the Kumaon region. CD40 gene polymorphisms were studied in Graves’ Disease patients (n=50) and healthy control subjects without anti-thyroid autoantibodies or a family history of autoimmune disorders (n=50). Material and Method: CD40 gene polymorphisms were studied in fifty Graves’ Disease patients and fifty healthy control subjects. All samples were collected from STG Hospital, Haldwani, Nainital. A C/T polymorphism at position –1 of the CD40 gene was measured using the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism. Results: There was no significant difference in allele or genotype frequency of the CD40 SNP between Graves’ Disease and control subjects. There was a significant decrease in the TT genotype frequency in the Graves’ Disease patients who developed Graves’ Disease after 40 years old than those under 40 years of age. These data suggest that the SNP of the CD40 gene is associated with susceptibility to the later onset of Graves’ Disease. Conclusion: The CD40 gene was a different susceptibility gene for Graves’ Disease within certain families because it was both linked and associated with Graves’ Disease. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=autoimmune%20%20%20diseases" title="autoimmune diseases">autoimmune diseases</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pathogenesis" title=" pathogenesis"> pathogenesis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diagnosis" title=" diagnosis"> diagnosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=therapy" title=" therapy"> therapy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185356/a-ct-polymorphism-at-the-5-untranslated-region-of-cd40-gene-in-patients-associated-with-graves-disease-in-kumaon-region" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185356.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">51</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1780</span> Performance Analysis of Curved U-Slot Patch Antenna with Enhanced Bandwidth and Isolation for Mimo Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Umesh%20Kumar">Umesh Kumar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arun%20Kumar%20Shukla"> Arun Kumar Shukla</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=B.%20V.%20V.%20Ravindra%20Babu"> B. The proposed antenna excited by coaxial feed resonates at tri band of 2.8 GHz, 4.1 GHz and 5.7 GHz for VSWR ≤ 1.5 with an improved bandwidth of 99.7% and also for getting high gain antenna of 11.31 dB. A 2×2 MIMO is developed using the proposed antenna giving an excellent isolation of 28 dB between the two antennas. The simulation results of return loss, Mutual Coupling, Gain, VSWR, Surface Current Distribution and Electrical Distribution are presented. By keeping the substrate thickness constant over various dielectric constants, simulations were carried out using MATLAB® and HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator) software. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=performance%20analysis" title="performance analysis">performance analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=curved%20U-slot%20patch" title=" curved U-slot patch"> curved U-slot patch</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antenna%20with%20enhanced%20bandwidth" title=" antenna with enhanced bandwidth"> antenna with enhanced bandwidth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=isolation%20for%20mimo%20systems" title=" isolation for mimo systems"> isolation for mimo systems</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22214/performance-analysis-of-curved-u-slot-patch-antenna-with-enhanced-bandwidth-and-isolation-for-mimo-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22214.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">587</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1779</span> Estimation of PM2.5 Emissions and Source Apportionment Using Receptor and Dispersion Models</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Swetha%20Priya%20Darshini%20Thammadi">Swetha Priya Darshini Thammadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sateesh%20Kumar%20Pisini"> Sateesh Kumar Pisini</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sanjay%20Kumar%20Shukla"> Sanjay Kumar Shukla</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Source apportionment using Dispersion model depends primarily on the quality of Emission Inventory. In the present study, a CMB receptor model has been used to identify the sources of PM2.5, while the AERMOD dispersion model has been used to account for missing sources of PM2.5 in the Emission Inventory. A statistical approach has been developed to quantify the missing sources not considered in the Emission Inventory. The inventory of each grid was improved by adjusting emissions based on road lengths and deficit in measured and modelled concentrations. The results showed that in CMB analyses, fugitive sources - soil and road dust - contribute significantly to ambient PM2.5 pollution. As a result, AERMOD significantly underestimated the ambient air concentration at most locations. The revised Emission Inventory showed a significant improvement in AERMOD performance which is evident through statistical tests. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CMB" title="CMB">CMB</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GIS" title=" GIS"> GIS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=AERMOD" title=" AERMOD"> AERMOD</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PM%E2%82%82.%E2%82%85" title=" PM₂.₅"> PM₂.₅</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fugitive" title=" fugitive"> fugitive</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emission%20inventory" title=" emission inventory"> emission inventory</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95921/estimation-of-pm25-emissions-and-source-apportionment-using-receptor-and-dispersion-models" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95921.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">340</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1778</span> Degumming of Eri Silk Fabric with Ionic Liquid</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shweta%20K.%20Vyas">Shweta K. In the present study, the results on degumming of eri silk with alkaline peroxide have been compared with those obtained by using ionic liquid (IL) 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride [BMIM]Cl. Experiments were designed to find out the optimum processing parameters for degumming of eri silk by response surface methodology. The statistical software, Design-Expert 6.0 was used for regression analysis and graphical analysis of the responses obtained by running the set of designed experiments. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to estimate the statistical parameters. The polynomial equation of quadratic order was employed to fit the experimental data. The quality and model terms were evaluated by F-test. Three dimensional surface plots were prepared to study the effect of variables on different responses. The optimum conditions for IL treatment were selected from predicted combinations and the experiments were repeated under these conditions to determine the reproducibility. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=silk%20degumming" title="silk degumming">silk degumming</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ionic%20liquid" title=" ionic liquid"> ionic liquid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=response%20surface%20methodology" title=" response surface methodology"> response surface methodology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ANOVA" title=" ANOVA"> ANOVA</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18585/degumming-of-eri-silk-fabric-with-ionic-liquid" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18585.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">593</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1777</span> Load-Settlement Behaviour of Geogrid-Reinforced Sand Bed over Granular Piles</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sateesh%20Kumar%20Pisini">Sateesh Kumar Pisini</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Swetha%20Priya%20Darshini%20Thammadi"> Swetha Priya Darshini Thammadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sanjay%20Kumar%20Shukla"> Sanjay Kumar Shukla</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Granular piles are a popular ground improvement technique in soft cohesive soils as well as for loose non-cohesive soils. The present experimental study has been carried out on granular piles in loose (Relative density = 30%) and medium dense (Relative density = 60%) sands with geogrid reinforcement within the sand bed over the granular piles. A group of five piles were installed in the sand at different spacing, s = 2d, 3d and 4d, d being the diameter of the pile. The length (L = 0.4 m) and diameter (d = 50 mm) of the piles were kept constant for all the series of experiments. The load-settlement behavior of reinforced sand bed and granular piles system was studied by applying the load on a square footing. The results show that the effect of reinforcement increases the load bearing capacity of the piles. It is also found that an increase in spacing between piles decreases the settlement for both loose and medium dense soil. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=granular%20pile" title="granular pile">granular pile</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=load-carrying%20capacity" title=" load-carrying capacity"> load-carrying capacity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=settlement" title=" settlement"> settlement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geogrid%20reinforcement" title=" geogrid reinforcement"> geogrid reinforcement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sand" title=" sand"> sand</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95179/load-settlement-behaviour-of-geogrid-reinforced-sand-bed-over-granular-piles" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95179.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">391</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1776</span> Managing the Cosmos: Problems, Solutions, and Future Insights into Space Debris</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Irfan%20Nazir%20Wani">Irfan Nazir Wani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pushpendra%20Kumar%20Shukla"> Pushpendra Kumar Shukla</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manoj%20Kumar"> Manoj Kumar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Debris, also called waste or junk, present in orbit of Earth or orbital debris, offers a substantial challenge to space exploration. The blended bitumen was characterized using penetration, softening point, and dynamic viscosity using rotational viscometer, and compared with unmodified bitumen equally penetration grade 60/70. The rheological parameters were investigated using Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR), and mechanical properties were investigated by using Marshall Stability test. The results indicated an increase in softening point, dynamic viscosity and decrease in binder penetration. Rheological properties of bitumen increase complex modulus, decrease phase angle and improve rutting resistances as well. There was significant improvement in Marshall Stability, rather marginal improvement in flow value. The best improvement in the modified binder was obtained with 5% Cloisite-15A nanoclay. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cloisite-15A" title="Cloisite-15A">Cloisite-15A</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=complex%20shear%20modulus" title=" complex shear modulus"> complex shear modulus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phase%20angle" title=" phase angle"> phase angle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rutting%20resistance" title=" rutting resistance"> rutting resistance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/58589/experimental-investigations-on-nanoclay-cloisite-15a-modified-bitumen" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/58589.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">394</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1774</span> Dynamics of the Coupled Fitzhugh-Rinzel Neurons</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sanjeev%20Kumar%20Sharma">Sanjeev Kumar Sharma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arnab%20Mondal"> Arnab Mondal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ranjit%20Kumar%20Upadhyay"> Ranjit Kumar Upadhyay</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Excitable cells often produce different oscillatory activities that help us to understand the transmitting and processing of signals in the neural system. We consider a FitzHugh-Rinzel (FH-R) model and studied the different dynamics of the model by considering the parameter c as the predominant parameter. The model exhibits different types of neuronal responses such as regular spiking, mixed-mode bursting oscillations (MMBOs), elliptic bursting, etc. Based on the bifurcation diagram, we consider the three regimes (MMBOs, elliptic bursting, and quiescent state). An analytical treatment for the occurrence of the supercritical Hopf bifurcation is studied. Further, we extend our study to a network of a hundred neurons by considering the bi-directional synaptic coupling between them. In this article, we investigate the alternation of spiking propagation and bursting phenomena of an uncoupled and coupled FH-R neurons. We explore that the complete graph of heterogenous desynchronized neurons can exhibit different types of bursting oscillations for certain coupling strength. For higher coupling strength, all the neurons in the network show complete synchronization. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=excitable%20neuron%20model" title="excitable neuron model">excitable neuron model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spiking-bursting" title=" spiking-bursting"> spiking-bursting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stability%20and%20bifurcation" title=" stability and bifurcation"> stability and bifurcation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=synchronization%20networks" title=" synchronization networks"> synchronization networks</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116729/dynamics-of-the-coupled-fitzhugh-rinzel-neurons" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116729.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">128</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1773</span> Diffusion Dynamics of Leech-Heart Inter-Neuron Model </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arnab%20Mondal">Arnab Mondal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sanjeev%20Kumar%20Sharma"> Sanjeev Kumar Sharma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ranjit%20Kumar%20Upadhyay"> Ranjit Kumar Upadhyay</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We study the spatiotemporal dynamics of a neuronal cable. The processes of one- dimensional (1D) and 2D diffusion are considered for a single variable, which is the membrane voltage, i.e., membrane voltage diffusively interacts for spatiotemporal pattern formalism. The recovery and other variables interact through the membrane voltage. A 3D Leech-Heart (LH) model is introduced to investigate the nonlinear responses of an excitable neuronal cable. The deterministic LH model shows different types of firing properties. We explore the parameter space of the uncoupled LH model and based on the bifurcation diagram, considering v_k2_ashift as a bifurcation parameter, we analyze the 1D diffusion dynamics in three regimes: bursting, regular spiking, and a quiescent state. Depending on parameters, it is shown that the diffusive system may generate regular and irregular bursting or spiking behavior. Further, it is explored a 2D diffusion acting on the membrane voltage, where different types of patterns can be observed. The results show that the LH neurons with different firing characteristics depending on the control parameters participate in a collective behavior of an information processing system that depends on the overall network. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bifurcation" title="bifurcation">bifurcation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pattern%20formation" title=" pattern formation"> pattern formation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatio-temporal%20dynamics" title=" spatio-temporal dynamics"> spatio-temporal dynamics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stability%20analysis" title=" stability analysis"> stability analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116739/diffusion-dynamics-of-leech-heart-inter-neuron-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116739.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">222</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1772</span> Stability of Canola Varieties for Oil Percent in Four Regions of Iran</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyed%20Mohammad%20Nasir%20Mousavi">Seyed Mohammad Nasir Mousavi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amir%20Mashayekh"> Amir Mashayekh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pasha%20Hejazi"> Pasha Hejazi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sanaz%20Kanani%20Zadeh%20Khalkhali"> Sanaz Kanani Zadeh Khalkhali</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> To determine the stability of the oil percent canola varieties, an experiment was done in a randomized complete block design with four replications in four research stations of the country Shahrood, Esfahan, Kermanshah, Varamin. High strength aluminum alloys are widely used in aircraft and marine industries. Generally, the mechanical properties of fusion-welded aluminum joints are poor. The methanolic extract showed significant in vitro cytotoxic activity against four human cancer cell lines such as Colon (DLD-1, SW-620), Breast (MCF-7), Head and Neck (FaDu). This prompted us to isolate bioactive compounds through column chromatography. Two compounds Roccellic acid and Everninic acid have been isolated, out of which Everninic acid is reported for the first time. Both the compounds have been tested for in vitro cytotoxic activity in which Roccellic acid showed strong anticancer activity as compared to the Everninic acid. CDK-10 (Cyclin-dependent kinase) contributes to proliferation of cancer cells, and aberrant activity of these kinases has been reported in a wide variety of human cancers. These kinases, therefore, constitute biomarkers of proliferation and attractive pharmacological targets for the development of anticancer therapeutics. Therefore both the isolated compounds were tested for in silico molecular docking study against CDK-10 isomer enzyme to support the cytotoxic activity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cytotoxic%20activity" title="cytotoxic activity">cytotoxic activity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=everninic%20acid" title=" everninic acid"> everninic acid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=roccellic%20acid" title=" roccellic acid"> roccellic acid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=R.%20montagnei" title=" R. montagnei"> R. montagnei</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56792/isolation-and-identification-of-cytotoxic-compounds-from-fruticose-lichen-roccella-montagnei-and-its-in-silico-docking-study-against-cdk-10" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56792.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">326</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1768</span> Isotherm Study for Phenol Removal onto GAC</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lallan%20Singh%20Yadav">Lallan Singh Yadav</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bijay%20Kumar%20Mishra"> Bijay Kumar Mishra</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manoj%20Kumar%20Mahapatra"> Manoj Kumar Mahapatra</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arvind%20Kumar"> Arvind Kumar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Adsorption data for phenol removal onto granular activated carbon were fitted to Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. It is widely used in gas turbines of jet engines and related aerospace applications because of its good mechanical properties and structural stability at elevated temperatures. Because of good performance ratio and excellent process capability, this alloy has been used predominantly for aeronautic engine components like compressor disc and compressor blade. The main precipitates that contribute to high-temperature strength of IN718 are γʹ Ni₃(Al, Ti) and mainly γʹʹ (Ni₃ Nb). Various processes have been used for modification of the surface of components, such as Laser Shock Peening (LSP), Conventional Shot Peening (SP) and Ultrasonic Shot Peening (USP) to induce compressive residual stress (CRS) and development of fine-grained structure in the surface region. Surface nanostructure by ultrasonic shot peening is a novel methodology of surface modification to improve the overall performance of structural components. Surface nanostructure was developed on the peak aged IN718 superalloy using USP and its effect was studied on low cycle fatigue (LCF) life. Nanostructure of ~ 49 to 73 nm was developed in the surface region of the alloy by USP. The gage section of LCF samples was USPed for 5 minutes at a constant frequency of 20 kHz using StressVoyager to modify the surface. Strain controlled cyclic tests were performed for non-USPed and USPed samples at ±Δεt/2 from ±0.50% to ±1.0% at strain rate (ė) 1×10⁻³ s⁻¹ under reversal loading (R=‒1) at room temperature. The fatigue life of the USPed specimens was found to be more than that of the non-USPed ones. LCF life of the USPed specimen at Δεt/2=±0.50% was enhanced by more than twice of the non-USPed specimen. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IN718%20superalloy" title="IN718 superalloy">IN718 superalloy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanostructure" title=" nanostructure"> nanostructure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=USP" title=" USP"> USP</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LCF%20life" title=" LCF life"> LCF life</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116773/surface-nanostructure-developed-by-ultrasonic-shot-peening-and-its-effect-on-low-cycle-fatigue-life-of-the-in718-superalloy" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116773.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">112</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1766</span> Sustainability in Retaining Wall Construction with Geosynthetics</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sateesh%20Kumar%20Pisini">Sateesh Kumar Pisini</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Swetha%20Priya%20Darshini"> Swetha Priya Darshini</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sanjay%20Kumar%20Shukla"> Sanjay Kumar Shukla</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper seeks to present a research study on sustainability in construction of retaining wall using geosynthetics. Sustainable construction is a way for the building and infrastructure industry to move towards achieving sustainable development, taking into account environmental, socioeconomic and cultural issues. Geotechnical engineering, being very resource intensive, warrants an environmental sustainability study, but a quantitative framework for assessing the sustainability of geotechnical practices, particularly at the planning and design stages, does not exist. In geotechnical projects, major economic issues to be addressed are in the design and construction of stable slopes and retaining structures within space constraints. In this paper, quantitative indicators for assessing the environmental sustainability of retaining wall with geosynthetics are compared with conventional concrete retaining wall through life cycle assessment (LCA). Geosynthetics can make a real difference in sustainable construction techniques and contribute to development in developing countries in particular. Their imaginative application can result in considerable cost savings over the use of conventional designs and materials. The acceptance of geosynthetics in reinforced retaining wall construction has been triggered by a number of factors, including aesthetics, reliability, simple construction techniques, good seismic performance, and the ability to tolerate large deformations without structural distress. Reinforced retaining wall with geosynthetics is the best cost-effective and eco-friendly solution as compared with traditional concrete retaining wall construction. This paper presents an analysis of the theme of sustainability applied to the design and construction of traditional concrete retaining wall and presenting a cost-effective and environmental solution using geosynthetics. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainability" title="sustainability">sustainability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=retaining%20wall" title=" retaining wall"> retaining wall</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geosynthetics" title=" geosynthetics"> geosynthetics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=life%20cycle%20assessment" title=" life cycle assessment"> life cycle assessment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/81842/sustainability-in-retaining-wall-construction-with-geosynthetics" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/81842.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">2060</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1765</span> Simulation Study of the Microwave Heating of the Hematite and Coal Mixture</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prasenjit%20Singha">Prasenjit Singha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sunil%20Yadav"> Sunil Yadav</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Soumya%20Ranjan%20Mohantry"> Soumya Ranjan Mohantry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ajay%20Kumar%20Shukla"> Ajay Kumar Shukla</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Temperature distribution in the hematite ore mixed with 7.5% coal was predicted by solving a 1-D heat conduction equation using an implicit finite difference approach. In this paper, we developed a mass transfer model based on thermodynamics to simulate the ladle metallurgy steel-making process using FactSage and its macro facility. The overall heat and mass transfer processes consist of one equilibrium chamber, two non-equilibrium chambers, and one adiabatic reactor. The flow of material, as well as heat transfer, occurs across four interconnected unit chambers and a reactor. We used the macro programming facility of FactSage™ software to understand the thermochemical model of the secondary steel making process. In our model, we varied the oxygen content during the process and studied their effect on the composition of the final hot metal and slag. The model has been validated with respect to the plant data for the steel composition, which is similar to the ladle metallurgy steel-making process in the industry. The resulting composition profile serves as a guiding tool to optimize the process of ladle metallurgy in steel-making industries. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=desulphurization" title="desulphurization">desulphurization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=degassing" title=" degassing"> degassing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=factsage" title=" factsage"> factsage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reactor" title=" reactor"> reactor</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137291/development-of-a-thermodynamic-model-for-ladle-metallurgy-steel-making-processes-using-factsage-and-its-macro-facility" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137291.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">217</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1761</span> Identification and Characterization of 18S rRNA Gene of Demodex Canis From the Dog Population of Mizoram, India</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Moneesh%20Thakur">Moneesh Thakur</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hridayesh%20Prasad"> Hridayesh Prasad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nikitasha%20Bora"> Nikitasha Bora</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Parimal%20Roy%20Choudhary"> Parimal Roy Choudhary</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20K.%20Samanta"> A. Carcinogens and oxidant molecules present in cigarette smoke not only damage the cellular constituents (lipids, proteins, DNA) but may also regulate the molecular pathways involved in inflammation and cancer. Continuous oxidative stress caused by the constituents of cigarette smoke leads to higher PhospholipaseA₂ (PLA₂) activity, resulting in elevated levels of secondary metabolites whose role is well defined in cancer. To reduce the burden of chronic inflammation as well as oxidative stress, and higher levels of secondary metabolites, we checked the curative potential of PLA₂ inhibitor Bromoenol Lactone (BEL) during continuous exposure of cigarette smoke condensate (CSC). Aim: To check the therapeutic potential of Bromoenol Lactone (BEL), an inhibitor of PhospholipaseA₂s, in pathways of CSC-induced changes in type I and type II alveolar epithelial cells. Methods: Effect of BEL on CSC-induced PLA2 activity were checked using colorimetric assay, cellular toxicity using cell viability assay, membrane integrity using fluorescein di-acetate (FDA) uptake assay, reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and apoptosis markers through flow cytometry, and cellular regulation using MAPKinases levels, in lung epithelium. Results: BEL significantly mimicked CSC-induced PLA₂ activity, ROS levels, apoptosis, and kinases level whereas improved cellular viability and membrane integrity. Conclusions: Current observations revealed that BEL may be a potential therapeutic agent during Cigarette smoke-induced anomalies in lung epithelium. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cigarette%20smoke%20condensate" title="cigarette smoke condensate">cigarette smoke condensate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phospholipase%20A%E2%82%82" title=" phospholipase A₂"> phospholipase A₂</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oxidative%20stress" title=" oxidative stress"> oxidative stress</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=alveolar%20epithelium" title=" alveolar epithelium"> alveolar epithelium</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bromoenol%20lactone" title=" bromoenol lactone"> bromoenol lactone</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/100096/curative-role-of-bromoenol-lactone-an-inhibitor-of-phospholipase-a2-enzyme-during-cigarette-smoke-condensate-induced-anomalies-in-lung-epithelium" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/100096.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">189</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1759</span> Enhancing Dents through Lean Six Sigma</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prateek%20Guleria">Prateek Guleria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shubham%20Sharma"> Shubham Sharma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rakesh%20Kumar%20Shukla"> Rakesh Kumar Shukla</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Harshit%20Sharma"> Harshit Sharma</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Performance measurement of small and medium-sized businesses is the primary need for all companies to survive and thrive in a dynamic global company. A structured and systematic, integrated organization increases employee reliability, sustainability, and loyalty. This paper is a case study of a gear manufacturing industry that was facing the problem of rejection due to dents and damages in gear. The DMAIC cycle, along with different tools used in the research work includes SIPOC (Supply, Input, Process, Output, Control) Pareto analysis, Root & Cause analysis, and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis). The six-sigma level was improved from 4.06 to 3.46, and the rejection rate was reduced from 7.44% to 1.56%. These findings highlighted the influence of a Lean Six Sigma module in the gear manufacturing unit, which has already increased operational quality and continuity to increase market success and meet customer expectations. According to the findings, applying lean six sigma tools will result in increased productivity. The results could assist businesses in deciding the quality tools that were likely to improve efficiency, competitiveness, and expense. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=six%20sigma" title="six sigma">six sigma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DMAIC" title=" DMAIC"> DMAIC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SIPOC" title=" SIPOC"> SIPOC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=failure%20mode" title=" failure mode"> failure mode</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=effect%20analysis" title=" effect analysis"> effect analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158212/enhancing-dents-through-lean-six-sigma" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158212.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">114</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1758</span> Walmart Sales Forecasting using Machine Learning in Python</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Niyati%20%20Sharma">Niyati Sharma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Om%20%20Anand"> Om Anand</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sanjeev%20Kumar%20Prasad"> Sanjeev Kumar Prasad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Assuming future sale value for any of the organizations is one of the major essential characteristics of tactical development. Practically, it seems quite difficult to access the full potential of ME composites due to their weak ME coupling performances. Using a standard poling protocol, we successfully deployed the coupling performance of laminated ME composite, comprised of a ferroelectric (FE) layer of BCZT and a ferrite layer of NZFO. However, the ME coupling constant of laminated composite is optimized by lowering the volume fraction of the FE component to strengthen the mechanical strain in the piezoelectric layer while fixing the thickness of the magnetostrictive ferrite layer. Here, we employed systematic zero field cooled (ZFC) and field cooled (FC) electrical poling protocol on morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) based BCZT composition, well-appreciated for it’s remarkable electromechanical activity. We report a record augmentation in magnetoelectric coupling as a consequence of a prudent field-cooled poling mechanism. On the basis of our findings, we emphasize that the degree of magnetoelectricity may be significantly improved for the miniaturization of efficient devices via proper execution of the poling technique. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetoelectric" title="magnetoelectric">magnetoelectric</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lead-free" title=" lead-free"> lead-free</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ferroelctric" title=" ferroelctric"> ferroelctric</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ferromagnetic" title=" ferromagnetic"> ferromagnetic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20harvesting" title=" energy harvesting"> energy harvesting</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185280/the-role-of-poling-protocol-on-augmentation-of-magnetoelectricity-in-bcztnzfo-layered-composites" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185280.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">43</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1756</span> Strategies to Improve Heat Stress Tolerance in Chickpea and Dissecting the Cross Talk Mechanism</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Renu%20Yadav">Renu Yadav</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sanjeev%20Kumar"> Sanjeev Kumar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In northern India, chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) come across with terminal high-temperature stress during reproductive stage which leads to reduced yield. Hence, stable production of chickpea will depend on the development of new methods like ‘priming’ which allow improved adaptation to the drought and heat stress. In the present experiment, 11-day chickpea seedling was primed with mild drought stress and put on recovery stage by irrigating and finally 30-day seedlings were exposed to heat stress 38°C (4 hours), 35°C (8 hours) and 32°C (12 hours). To study the effect of combinatorial stress, heat and drought stress was applied simultaneously. Analyses of various physiological parameters like membrane damage assay, photosynthetic pigments, antioxidative enzyme, total sugars were estimated at all stages. To study the effect of heat stress on the metabolites of the plants, GC-MS and HPLC were performed, while at transcriptional level Real-Time PCR of predicted heat stress-related genes was done. It was concluded that the heat stress significantly affected the chickpea plant at physiological and molecular level in all the five varieties. Bituminous roads construction with conventional paving grade bitumen obtained from hot mix plant creates pollution and involves emission of greenhouse gases, also the construction of pavements at very high temperature is not feasible or desirable for high rainfall and snowfall areas. This problem of overheating can be eliminated by the construction of pavements with the usage of emulsified cold mixes which will eliminate emissions and help in the reduction of fuel requirement at mixing plant, which leads to energy conservation. Cold mix is a mixture of unheated aggregate and emulsion or cutback and filler. The primary objective of this research is to assess the volumetric mix design parameters of recycled aggregates with cold mixing technology and also to assess the impact of additives on volumetric mix characteristics. In this present study, bituminous pavement materials are reclaimed using cold mix technology, and Marshall specimens are prepared with the help of slow setting type 2 (SS-2) cationic bitumen emulsion as a binder for recycled aggregates. It facilitates the generation of highly unpredictable random sequences and enhances chaotic performance. The system’s efficacy is additionally enhanced by the inclusion of a SHA-256 hash function. Initially, classical plain images are converted into their quantum equivalents using the Novel Enhanced Quantum Representation (NEQR) model. The Generalized Quantum Arnold Transformation (GQAT) is then applied to disrupt the coordinate information of the quantum image. Subsequently, to diffuse the pixel values of the scrambled image, XOR operations are performed using pseudorandom sequences generated by the 3D-BNM chaotic map. Furthermore, to enhance the randomness and reduce the correlation among the pixels in the resulting cipher image, a controlled qubit-level scrambling operation is employed. The encryption process utilizes fundamental quantum gates such as C-NOT and CCNOT. Both theoretical and numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm against various statistical and differential attacks. Moreover, the proposed encryption algorithm operates with low computational complexity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=3D%20Chaotic%20map" title="3D Chaotic map">3D Chaotic map</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SHA-256" title=" SHA-256"> SHA-256</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum%20image%20encryption" title=" quantum image encryption"> quantum image encryption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Qubit%20level%20scrambling" title=" Qubit level scrambling"> Qubit level scrambling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=NEQR" title=" NEQR"> NEQR</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/193776/robust-quantum-image-encryption-algorithm-leveraging-3d-bnm-chaotic-maps-and-controlled-qubit-level-operations" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/193776.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">10</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1753</span> ED Machining of Particulate Reinforced Metal Matrix Composites</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sarabjeet%20Singh%20Sidhu">Sarabjeet Singh Sidhu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ajay%20Batish"> Ajay Batish</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sanjeev%20Kumar"> Sanjeev Kumar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper reports the optimal process conditions for machining of three different types of metal matrix composites (MMCs): 65vol%SiC/A356.2; 10vol%SiC-5vol%quartz/Al and 30vol%SiC/A359 using PMEDM process. Metal removal rate (MRR), tool wear rate (TWR), surface roughness (SR) and surface integrity (SI) were evaluated after each trial and contributing process parameters were identified. The four responses were then collectively optimized using the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) and optimal process conditions were identified for each type of MMCS. The density of reinforced particles shields the matrix material from spark energy hence the high MRR and SR was observed with lowest reinforced particle. TWR was highest with Cu-Gr electrode due to disintegration of the weakly bonded particles in the composite electrode. Each workpiece was examined for surface integrity and ranked as per severity of surface defects observed and their rankings were used for arriving at the most optimal process settings for each workpiece. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metal%20matrix%20composites%20%28MMCS%29" title="metal matrix composites
