I adjure you by God, not to torment me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>For he said to him, Get out of the man, O you unclean spirit. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And he asked him, What is your name? And he said to him, Our name is Legion, because we are many. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And he begged him much that he would not send him out of the country. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>Now there was there, near the mountain a large herd of swine feeding. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>And the lunatics begged him saying, Send us to the swine, that we may attack them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And he permitted them. And the lunatics went out, and attacked the swine; and the herd ran to the steep rocks, and fell into the sea; they were about two thousand, and they were drowned in the water.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And those who fed them, fled, and told it in the city and also in the villages. So they went out to see what had happened. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And they came to Jesus, and saw the lunatic, clothed and well behaved, and sitting down; even the one who once had the legion within him; and they were afraid. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And those who saw it told them just how it happened to the lunatic and also to the swine. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>So they began to urge him to leave their border. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>As he went up to the boat, the lunatic begged him to remain with him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And he would not permit him, but said to him, Go to your home, to your own people, and tell them what the Lord has done for you, and had mercy on you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And he went away, and began to preach in the ten cities about what Jesus had done for him; and they were all surprised.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>When Jesus crossed in the boat to the other side, large crowds again gathered around him, while he was by the sea. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And there came one of the leaders of the synagogue, whose name was Jairus; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And he beseeched him much and said to him, My daughter is very seriously ill; come and lay your hand on her, and she will be healed, and live. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>So Jesus went with him; and a large multitude followed him, and they pressed on him.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>And there was a woman who had had the hemorrhage for twelve years, <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>Who had suffered much at the hands of many doctors, and had spent everything she had, and was not helped at all, but rather became worse. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>When she heard concerning Jesus, she came through the dense crowd from behind him, and touched his cloak. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>For she said, If I can only touch his cloak, I will live. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-29.htm#aramaic"><b>29</b></a></span>And immediately the hemorrhage was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-30.htm#aramaic"><b>30</b></a></span>Jesus instantly knew that some power had gone out of him; so he turned around to the people and said, Who touched my garments? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-31.htm#aramaic"><b>31</b></a></span>His disciples said to him, You see the people pressing on you, and yet you say, Who touched me? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-32.htm#aramaic"><b>32</b></a></span>And he was looking round to see who had done this. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-33.htm#aramaic"><b>33</b></a></span>But the woman, frightened and trembling, because she knew what had happened to her, came and fell before him and told him the whole truth. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-34.htm#aramaic"><b>34</b></a></span>He said to her, My daughter, your faith has healed you; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-35.htm#aramaic"><b>35</b></a></span>While he was still talking, some men came from the house of the leader of the synagogue, saying, Your daughter is dead; why do you trouble the Teacher? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-36.htm#aramaic"><b>36</b></a></span>Jesus heard the word which they spoke, and he said to the leader of the synagogue, Fear not, only believe. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-37.htm#aramaic"><b>37</b></a></span>And he did not permit any man to go with him, except Simon Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-38.htm#aramaic"><b>38</b></a></span>And they came to the house of the leader of the synagogue, and he saw them in a tumult, weeping and wailing. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-39.htm#aramaic"><b>39</b></a></span>So he entered and said to them, Why are you excited and crying? The little girl is not dead, but she is asleep. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-40.htm#aramaic"><b>40</b></a></span>And they laughed at him. But Jesus put them all out, and took the little girl&#8217;s father and mother and those who were with him, and he entered where the little girl was laid. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-41.htm#aramaic"><b>41</b></a></span>And he took the little girl by her hand, and said to her, Talitha, koomi, which means, Little girl, rise up. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/mark/5-42.htm#aramaic"><b>42</b></a></span>And immediately the little girl got up and walked; for she was twelve years old.
