important in the evaluation of an aircraft performance and stability-control characteristics. These coefficients also can be used in the automatic flight control systems and mathematical model of flight simulator. The study of the aerodynamic aspect of flying systems is a reserved domain and inaccessible for the developers. Doing tests in a wind tunnel to extract aerodynamic forces and moments requires a specific and expensive means. Besides, the glaring lack of published documentation in this field of study makes the aerodynamic coefficients determination complicated. This work is devoted to the identification of an aerodynamic model, by using an aircraft in virtual simulated environment. We deal with the identification of the system, we present an environment framework based on Software In the Loop (SIL) methodology and we use MicrosoftTM Flight Simulator (FS-2004) as the environment for plane simulation. We propose The Total Least Squares Estimation technique (TLSE) to identify the aerodynamic parameters, which are unknown, variable, classified and used in the expression of the piloting law. In this paper, we define each aerodynamic coefficient as the mean of its numerical values. All other variations are considered as modeling uncertainties that will be compensated by the robustness of the piloting control. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aircraft%20aerodynamic%20model" title="aircraft aerodynamic model">aircraft aerodynamic model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=total%20least%20squares%20estimation" title=" total least squares estimation"> total least squares estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piloting%20the%20aircraft" title=" piloting the aircraft"> piloting the aircraft</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=robust%20control" title=" robust control"> robust control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Microsoft%20Flight%20Simulator" title=" Microsoft Flight Simulator"> Microsoft Flight Simulator</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MQ-1%20predator" title=" MQ-1 predator"> MQ-1 predator</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44416/application-of-the-total-least-squares-estimation-method-for-an-aircraft-aerodynamic-model-identification" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44416.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">287</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">20</span> The Conjugated Polymers in improving the Organic Solar Cells Efficiency</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samia%20Moulebhar">Samia Moulebhar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chahrazed%20Bendenia"> Chahrazed Bendenia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Souhila%20Bendenia"> Souhila Bendenia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hanaa%20Merad-dib"> Hanaa Merad-dib</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sarra%20Merabet"> Sarra Merabet</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sid%20Ahmed%20Khantar"> Sid Ahmed Khantar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Baghdad%20Hadri"> Baghdad Hadri</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The photovoltaic solar field is today experiencing exponential advancement with the exploitation of new technological sectors of nanoparticles, namely the field of solar cells based on organic polymer materials. Various techniques have been used, includingdegradation, filtration, advancedoxidationprocesses, ion exchange, membrane processes, and adsorption. The latter is one of the mostsuitablemethods, usinghighly efficient materials. In this study, NaX zeolite was modified with Cu or Ni at various rates. Following ion exchange, the samples were characterized by XRD, BET and SEM/EDX. After characterization, the exchanged zeolites were used for adsorption of various pollutants as CO2. Different thermodynamic parameters were studied such as Qst. XRD results show that the most intense peaks characteristic of 13X persist after the exchange reaction for all samples. The SEM images of our samples have uniform and regular crystal shapes. The results show that ion exhange with Cu or Ni affect the textural properties of X zeolites and prove that the exchange zeolites can be used as an adsorbent for depollution. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=X%20zeolites%20%28NaX%29" title="X zeolites (NaX)">X zeolites (NaX)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ion%20exchange" title=" ion exchange"> ion exchange</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=characterization" title=" characterization"> characterization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adsorption" title=" adsorption"> adsorption</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174447/investigation-of-modified-microporous-materials-for-environmental-depollution" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174447.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">87</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">16</span> Improved Photo-Active Layer Properties for Efficient Organic Solar Cells</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chahrazed%20Bendenia">Chahrazed Bendenia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Souhila%20Bendenia"> Souhila Bendenia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samia%20Moulebhar"> Samia Moulebhar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hanaa%20Merad-Dib"> Hanaa Merad-Dib</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sarra%20Merabet"> Sarra Merabet</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sid%20Ahmed%20Khantar"> Sid Ahmed Khantar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Baghdad%20Hadri"> Baghdad Hadri</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In recent years, organic solar cells (OSCs) have become the fundamental concern of researchers thanks to their advantages in terms of flexibility, manufacturing processes and low cost. After optimization, maximum conversion efficiency was achieved with 300 nm in absorber layer. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=methylammonium%20lead%20Iodide" title="methylammonium lead Iodide">methylammonium lead Iodide</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=perovskite%20solar%20cell" title=" perovskite solar cell"> perovskite solar cell</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=caracteristic%20J-V" title=" caracteristic J-V"> caracteristic J-V</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=effeciency" title=" effeciency"> effeciency</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/176389/effect-of-methylammonium-lead-iodide-layer-thickness-on-performance-of-perovskite-solar-cell" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/176389.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">69</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">13</span> Sliding Mode Control of Variable Speed Wind Energy Conversion Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zine%20Souhila%20Rached">Zine Souhila Rached</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mazari%20Benyounes%20Bouzid"> Mazari Benyounes Bouzid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Amine"> Mohamed Amine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Allaoui%20Tayeb"> Allaoui Tayeb</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Wind energy has many advantages, it does not pollute and it is an inexhaustible source. However, its high cost is a major constraint, especially on the less windy sites. The purpose of wind energy systems is to maximize energy efficiency, and extract maximum power from the wind speed. In other words, having a power coefficient is maximum and therefore the maximum power point tracking. In this case, the MPPT control becomes important. To realize this control, strategy conventional proportional and integral (PI) controller is usually used. However, this strategy cannot achieve better performance. This paper proposes a robust control of a turbine which optimizes its production, that is improve the quality and energy efficiency, namely, a strategy of sliding mode control. The proposed sliding mode control strategy presents attractive features such as robustness to parametric uncertainties of the turbine; the proposed sliding mode control approach has been simulated on three-blade wind turbine. The simulation result under Matlab\Simulink has validated the performance of the proposed MPPT strategy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wind%20turbine" title="wind turbine">wind turbine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=maximum%20power%20point%20tracking" title=" maximum power point tracking"> maximum power point tracking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sliding%20mode" title=" sliding mode"> sliding mode</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20conversion%20systems" title=" energy conversion systems"> energy conversion systems</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21686/sliding-mode-control-of-variable-speed-wind-energy-conversion-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21686.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">611</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">12</span> Efficacy of TiO₂ in the Removal of an Acid Dye by Photo Catalytic Degradation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laila%20Mahtout">Laila Mahtout</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kerami%20Ahmed"> Kerami Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rabhi%20Souhila"> Rabhi Souhila</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The objective of this work is to reduce the impact on the environment of an acid dye (Black Eriochrome T) using catalytic photo-degradation in the presence of the semiconductor powder (TiO₂) previously characterized. A series of tests have been carried out in order to demonstrate the influence of certain parameters on the degree of dye degradation by titanium dioxide in the presence of UV rays, such as contact time, the powder mass and the pH of the solution. X-ray diffraction analysis of the powder showed that the anatase structure is predominant and the rutile phase is presented by peaks of low intensity. The various chemical groups which characterize the presence of the bands corresponding to the anatase and rutile form and other chemical functions have been detected by the Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy. The photo degradation of the NET by TiO₂ is very interesting because it gives encouraging results. The study of photo-degradation at different concentrations of the dye showed that the lower concentrations give better removal rates. The degree of degradation of the dye increases with increasing pH; it reaches the maximum value at pH = 9. The ideal mass of TiO₂ which gives the high removal rate is 1.2 g/l. Thermal treatment of TiO₂ with the addition of CuO with contents of 5%, 10%, and 15% respectively gives better results of degradation of the NET dye. The high percentage of elimination is observed at a CuO content of 15%. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acid%20dye" title="acid dye">acid dye</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ultraviolet%20rays" title=" ultraviolet rays"> ultraviolet rays</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=degradation" title=" degradation"> degradation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photocatalyse" title=" photocatalyse"> photocatalyse</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89224/efficacy-of-tio2-in-the-removal-of-an-acid-dye-by-photo-catalytic-degradation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89224.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">194</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> Ground Beetle’s Diversity in Agroecosystems of a Steppe Region, Algeria</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nawel%20Ganaoui">Nawel Ganaoui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chadli%20Souhila"> Chadli Souhila</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gahdab%20Chakal"> Gahdab Chakal</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study presents the results of a comparative research aiming to examine the distribution of beetles in four agroecosystems in the Tiaret region, located in northwestern Algeria, during the year 2023. This study was initiated across 04 stations that were randomly distributed within the Ksar Chellala region and selected based on their plant composition. The sampling method used was based on pitfall traps, which were filled two-thirds with a solution of saltwater supplemented with vinegar. In total, 40 species of beetles belonging to 9 families were identified. Among them, tenebrionids were the most abundant group (43%), followed by scarab beetles (30%) The comparison between the four types of agroecosystems - olive culture, sheep farming, cereal cultivation, and Pomegranate cultivation- in this region revealed that cereal cultivation harbored the greatest species diversity (30 species), followed by the sheep farming site (32 species), and then the other sites based on their ecological importance and trophic interactions, these beetle species were mainly categorized as coprophages, phytophages, and predators. The spatiotemporal evolution of beetle activity highlighted peaks of rich-ness and abundance, mainly during the dry period (from April to May), while the cold period (January) showed the low-est levels. The specific diversity of beetles varied significantly from one habitat to another. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=agroecosystem" title="agroecosystem">agroecosystem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=beetle" title=" beetle"> beetle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=entomology" title=" entomology"> entomology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=steppe%20regoin" title=" steppe regoin"> steppe regoin</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/178813/ground-beetles-diversity-in-agroecosystems-of-a-steppe-region-algeria" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/178813.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">72</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10</span> Toxicological Study of Umbilicus rupesris L. The present paper aimed to study the acute and subacute toxicity with orally administered methanolic leaves extract of Umbilicus rupestris L (URMeOH). In acute toxicity tests, four groups of rats (n = 6/group/female) were orally treated with doses of 500, 1000, 1500 and 2000 mg/kg, and general behaviour, adverse effects, and mortality were recorded for up to 14 days. In subacute toxicity study, rats received URAMeOH by gavage at the doses of 100, 200 mg/kg/day (n = 6/group) for 28 days, and biochemical, hematological, and histopathological changes in tissues (liver, kidney) were determined. URMeOH did not produce any hazardous symptoms or death and in the acute toxicity test. Subacute treatment with URMeOH did not show any change in body weight, and hematological and biochemical profiles. In addition, no change was observed either in macroscopic or microscopic aspects of vital organs in rats. Our result showed that Umbilicus rupestris extract could be safe for human use. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acute%20toxicity" title="acute toxicity">acute toxicity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biochemical%20parameters" title=" biochemical parameters"> biochemical parameters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hematological%20parameters" title=" hematological parameters"> hematological parameters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Umbilicus%20rupestris" title=" Umbilicus rupestris"> Umbilicus rupestris</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=subacute%20toxicity" title=" subacute toxicity"> subacute toxicity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/6931/toxicological-study-of-umbilicus-rupesris-l-leaves-hematological-biochemical-and-histopathological-studies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/6931.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">345</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> Study of Some Biological Profiles as Limiting Factors of Male Fertility in the Region of Batna, Algeria</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bousnane%20Nour%20El%20Houda">Bousnane Nour El Houda</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chennaf%20Ali"> Chennaf Ali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yahia%20Mouloud"> Yahia Mouloud</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Benbia%20Souhila"> Benbia Souhila</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Male infertility or the inability of a man to procreate is a major public health problem, where it is a leading cause of marital discord in several countries such Algeria. The objective of this work is to study some biological profiles of infertile men from the city of Batna/Algeria and to identify the causes of infertility in a population of infertile males to improve its management and to establish a good therapeutic strategy through a study that lasted 10 months in the Department of Urology of the University Hospital of Banta and on a population of 140 infertile subjects. For every man, series of assessments was performed to determine the exact causes of infertility. We found 102 cases of primary infertility against 38 cases of secondary infertility; the average age of men was 39.7 years, with a predominance of the age group (46-50 years). 34.29% of subjects had genital infections against 17.14% with varicocele. 132 men presented spermiologiques abnormalities; a asthénospermie (AS) in 27.27% of the cases, astheno-terato spermiea (OATS) 11.36% while Azoospermes showed 5.07%. Genital infections are the main causes of infertility (34.29%) of the cases. The results of spermocytogramme showed a predominance of head abnormalities (41.70%), while the flagellum abnormalities presented 33.83%. The dosage of the seminal plasma carnitine showed no pathological cases, which makes it difficult to know their association with infertility. We have studied the influence of their parameters on cell characteristics. For this purpose, we used the effective medium model and the solar cell simulator (SCAPS) to model the characteristics of the solar cell. We also explore the transport of charge carriers in the device. It was assumed that the mixture is lightly p-type doped and that the band gap contains acceptor defects near the HOMO level with a Gaussian distribution of energy states at 100 and 50 meV. We varied defects density between 1012-1017 cm-3, from 1016 cm-3, a total decrease of the photovoltaic characteristics due to the increase of the non-radiative recombination can be noticed. Then we studied the effect of variation of the electron and the hole capture cross-section on the cell’s performance, we noticed that the cell obtains a better efficiency of about 3.6% for an electron capture cross section ≤ 10-15 cm2 and a hole capture cross section ≤ 10-19 cm2. On the other hand, we also varied the temperature between 120K and 400K. We observed that the temperature of the solar cell induces a noticeable effect on its voltage. While the effect of temperature on the solar cell current is negligible. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=organic%20solar%20cell" title="organic solar cell">organic solar cell</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=P3HT%3APCBM" title=" P3HT:PCBM"> P3HT:PCBM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=defects" title=" defects"> defects</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=temperature" title=" temperature"> temperature</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SCAPS" title=" SCAPS"> SCAPS</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164758/modeling-and-simulation-of-organic-solar-cells-based-on-p3htpcbm-using-scaps-1-d-influence-of-defects-and-temperature-on-the-performance-of-the-solar-cell" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164758.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">91</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7</span> Toxic Heavy Metal Accumulation by Algerian Malva sylvestris L. The samples (soil and parts of species) were collected from different sites: the industrial area (IA) (Rouiba), the rubbish dump area (RDA) (Boudouaou), the residential area (RA) with large open fields and construction activities (Blida), the Montaigne area (MA) (Chrea) and the high plateau area (HPA) (Berouaguia). The study showed differences in metal concentrations according to the analysed parts and the different sampling locations. In the contaminated site of the industrial area (IA), high content of the toxic heavy metals (Cd: 3.18 µg/g DW and Pb: 34.48 µg/g DW) were found in the leaves of Malva sylvestris L. This finding suggests that the consumers of this species could be exposed to a risk associated with this higher level of these toxic metals. It was found that Malva sylvestris L. is rich by Zn and Cu in some sites, which are considered to be the essential elements for the human health. The obtained results with the control site (Montaigne area) suggest that this species can be applicable in both the health and food, feasible alternatives as medicinal plant without any risk. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Malva%20sylvestris%20L." title="Malva sylvestris L.">Malva sylvestris L.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=toxic%20heavy%20metal" title=" toxic heavy metal"> toxic heavy metal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=medicinal%20plant" title=" medicinal plant"> medicinal plant</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impact%20on%20human%20health" title=" impact on human health"> impact on human health</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13692/toxic-heavy-metal-accumulation-by-algerian-malva-sylvestris-l-depending-on-location-variation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13692.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">359</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6</span> Identification of Associated-Virulence Genes in Quinolone-Resistant Escherichia coli Strains Recovered from an Urban Wastewater Treatment Plant</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alouache%20Souhila">Alouache Souhila</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Messai%20Yamina"> Messai Yamina</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Torres%20Carmen"> Torres Carmen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bakour%20Rabah"> Bakour Rabah</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Objective: It has often been reported an association between antibiotic resistance and virulence. However, resistance to quinolones seems to be an exception, it tends instead to be associated with an attenuation of virulence, particularly in clinical strains. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the potential virulence of 28 quinolone-resistant E. coli strains recovered from water at the inflow (n=16) and outflow (n=12) of an urban wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). Methods: E. coli isolates were selected on Tergitol-7 agar supplemented with 2µg/ml of ciprofloxacin, they were screened by PCR for 11 virulence genes related to Extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC): papC, papG, afa/draBC, sfa/foc, kpsMTII, iutA, iroN, hlyF, ompT, iss and traT. The phylogenetic groups were determined by PCR and clonal relationship was evaluated by ERIC-PCR. Results: Genotyping by ERIC-PCR showed 7 and 12 DNA profiles among strains of wastewater (inflow) and treated water (outflow), respectively. Strains were assigned to the following phylogenetic groups: B2 (n = 1, 3.5%), D (n = 3, 10.7%), B1 (n = 10, 35.7%.) and A (n = 14, 50%). A total of 8 virulence-associated genes were detected, traT (n=19, 67.8%), iroN (n= 16, 57 .1%), hlyF (n=15, 53 .5%), ompT (n=15, 53 .5%), iss (n=14, 50%), iutA (n=9, 32.1%) , sfa/foc (n=7, 25%) and kpsMTII (n=2, 7.1%). Combination of virulence factors allowed to define 16 virulence profiles. The pathotype APEC was observed in 17.8% (D=1, B1=4) and human ExPEC in 7% (B2=1, D=1) of strains. Conclusion: The study showed that quinolone-resistant E. coli strains isolated from wastewater and treated water in WWTP harbored virulence genes with the presence of APEC and human ExPEC strains. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=E.%20coli" title="E. coli">E. coli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quinolone-resistance" title=" quinolone-resistance"> quinolone-resistance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=virulence" title=" virulence"> virulence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=WWTP" title=" WWTP"> WWTP</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27482/identification-of-associated-virulence-genes-in-quinolone-resistant-escherichia-coli-strains-recovered-from-an-urban-wastewater-treatment-plant" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27482.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">465</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> Influence of Age on Some Testicular and Spermatic Parameters in Kids and Bucks in Local Breed Arbia in Algeria</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Boukhalfa%20Djemouai">Boukhalfa Djemouai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Belkadi%20Souhila"> Belkadi Souhila</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Safsaf%20Boubakeur"> Safsaf Boubakeur</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> To increase the profitability of the national herd so that it can meet the needs of the population, Algeria has proceeded to the introduction of new reproductive biotechnologies, including artificial insemination on natural heat, by induction and heat synchronization. The examined parameters have focused on testicular weight (grams), the scrotal circumference (cm), mass mobility (%), vitality rate (%), sperm concentration (x 109), and percentage of abnormal spermatozoa (%). The ANOVA reveals a significance effect of age on parameters: testis weight, scrotal circumference, sperm concentration, motility varying between high (p < 0.01) to very high significance (p < 0.001), while in viability and abnormalities no significance was observed between all groups. The value of these parameters increased significantly until the age of 02 years, while that of sperm abnormalities has increased in Grp2. The histological study of testicular development shows that the genetic spermatozoa function characterized by cell proliferation, which is more and more intense starting from the age of 05 months and can be considered as an age of puberty in the local breed goat Arbia and increases with animal age. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kids%20and%20bucks" title="kids and bucks">kids and bucks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=epididymis%20sperm" title=" epididymis sperm"> epididymis sperm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=testicular%20measurements" title=" testicular measurements"> testicular measurements</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arbia%20breed" title=" Arbia breed"> Arbia breed</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/125017/influence-of-age-on-some-testicular-and-spermatic-parameters-in-kids-and-bucks-in-local-breed-arbia-in-algeria" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/125017.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">132</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> Impact of Breed and Physiological Status on Blood Content of Goats in Arid Conditions of Algeria</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lilia%20Belkacem">Lilia Belkacem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zahra%20Rouabah"> Zahra Rouabah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Assia%20Allaoui"> Assia Allaoui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Karina%20Bachtarzi"> Karina Bachtarzi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Souhila%20Belkadi"> Souhila Belkadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Boubakeur%20Safsaf"> Boubakeur Safsaf</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Madjid%20Tlidjane"> Madjid Tlidjane</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The Damascus breed, known for its prolificacy and milking ability, is recently imported in Algeria. Farmers tend to improve the local native herds by crossbreeding with Damascus bucks. The aim of the current investigation was to study the effects of physiological status on blood progesterone and some biochemical parameters in Shami goats and their crosses with local breed in arid conditions of Algeria. Ten does with an age range of 1.5- 3 years and BSC between 2.5 and 3.5 were used. Female goats were divided into two groups of five animals each: Damascus, and crossbred (Damascus x Arbia). All females were estrus synchronized and naturally mated. Blood samples were collected before intravaginal sponge insertion (non- pregnant), in early (30 days after sponge removal), mid (90 days), late pregnancy (130 days) and after kidding (30 days post-partum). Results demonstrate a significant effect of the reproductive stage on progesterone (P4) levels in both groups, on glycemia and cholesterolemia in crossbred does (p<0.05) and on albuminemia and uremia in Damascus ones. Concentrations of triglycerides, total proteins, globulin and creatinine revealed no significant difference between physiological phases in both groups (p>0.05). Breed effect was detected in early and mid-pregnancy for P4, in early pregnancy and lactation for total proteins and in lactation for globulin with lower concentrations in Damascus compared to crossbred does. Changes in P4 and biochemical profiles of both groups reflect the female goat’s adaptation to increased requirement of gestation and lactation in arid conditions of Algeria. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=damascus%20goat" title="damascus goat">damascus goat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crossbred" title=" crossbred"> crossbred</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reproductive%20status" title=" reproductive status"> reproductive status</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=progesterone" title=" progesterone"> progesterone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biochemical%20metabolites" title=" biochemical metabolites"> biochemical metabolites</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/183990/impact-of-breed-and-physiological-status-on-blood-content-of-goats-in-arid-conditions-of-algeria" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/183990.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">61</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> Anti-inflammatory and Hemostatic Activities of Methanolic Extract from Atriplex Halimus. However, the inflammatory effect of this plant leaves has not been studied. This work aimed at assessing the anti- inflammatory and hemostatic activities of the methanolic extract AHMeOH of Atriplex halimus’s leaves. Methods: The extract was obtained using sonication of leaves powder in 80 % methanol. The analysis of phenolic compounds was carried out using thin-layer chromatography (TLC).The anti-inflammatory activity was determined by studying the plasmical membrane stabilization and albumin denaturation inhibition, the hemostatic activity was evaluated by measuring the plasma in the blood. Results: Quantitative determination of total flavonoids reveals that AHMeOH is rich in flavonoids (16 ± 0.88 μg Q / mg extract) and polyphenols (20 ± 0.20 μg AG / mg extract). about anti-inflammatory activity, the tests show that AHMeOH has a significant effect (P≤0.05) of inhibiting hypotonic-induced hemolysis with concentrations (100 and 200 μg / ml) with 77.55 and 90% respectively, and heat-induced hemolysis with percentages 81.75% and 87.44% respectively with significant difference (P ≤0.05). The obtained results with this plant reveal that the inhibition of denaturation of albumin is dose dependent. The concentration of 400 μg / ml gives denaturation inhibition of 81.00 ± 17.70% and the concentration 600 μg / ml gives an effect of 82.95 ± 17.40%. Regarding the haemostatic activity our extract with the doses 10 mg / ml, 20 mg / ml and 30 mg / ml confer a decrease of the plasma recalcification time in the tube, these concentrations could prolong the time of coagulation significantly compared to the control (P≤0.001). This result is an interesting indication in favor of haemostatic activity of AHMeOH. Conclusion: Atriplex Halimus has a strong anti-inflammatory activity and constitutes a potential source for the development of new treatments. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=albumin" title="albumin">albumin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=atriplex%20halimus" title=" atriplex halimus"> atriplex halimus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hemostatic%20activity" title=" hemostatic activity"> hemostatic activity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=methanolic%20extract" title=" methanolic extract"> methanolic extract</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/183843/anti-inflammatory-and-hemostatic-activities-of-methanolic-extract-from-atriplex-halimus-leaves" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/183843.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">75</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> Multilingual Practices in the UK: Kabyles’ Situational Language Choice in a Linguistically Diverse Setting</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Souhila%20Belabbas">Souhila Belabbas</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper focuses on the Kabyles’ multilingual practices in the UK, within the Kabyle/Amazigh Cultural Organisation in London, on online platforms and at home. The Kabyles have roots in northern Algeria and associate their language, Kabyle, with a pre-Arabized history of northern Africa. Drawing on ethnographic research with this community, this study brings together their post-migration language preservation activisms as well as their dynamic multilingual practices and situational language choice into a dialogue. This shows the enduring significance of the heritage language for social, cultural and historical identity. It also demonstrates that the current survival of the “mother tongue” hinges on multilingual and multi-sited language activisms, which bear the hallmarks of both new creativities and diminishing fluencies in multilingual spaces. These multilingual repertoires also included a range of ideological stances, expressed as cultural, moral, and political attitudes to the “mother tongue” and to other, potentially more dominant, languages in their lives, involving both inclusive and exclusive instances. The Kabyles in the UK practice everyday forms of multilingualism in the dynamic terms whilst making strong identity claims to an endangered heritage language. Crucially, their language contact experiences were not a post-migration novelty but part of their pre-migration lifeworlds. The participants involved in this study shared a commitment to Kabyle identity activism. They expressed this differently, varyingly foregrounding cultural, social or political issues. These differences were related to their North-African cultural background, live, gender, religious and/or political affiliation, as well as to their different migratory trajectories. Among these ethno-conscious individuals, the use of Kabyle was often particularly vibrant in informal domains of casual conversations and mixed in with French, English and often Arabic. During community events and festivals, though, many made special efforts to converse in Kabyle as if to make a point about their commitment to a shared identity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ethnography" title="ethnography">ethnography</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=language%20ideology" title=" language ideology"> language ideology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=language%20choice" title=" language choice"> language choice</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heritage%20language" title=" heritage language"> heritage language</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=migration%20trajectories" title=" migration trajectories"> migration trajectories</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multilingual%20repertoires" title=" multilingual repertoires"> multilingual repertoires</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172695/multilingual-practices-in-the-uk-kabyles-situational-language-choice-in-a-linguistically-diverse-setting" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172695.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">78</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1</span> Multilingual Practices in the UK: Kabyles’ Situational Language Choice in a Linguistically Diverse Setting.</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Souhila%20Belabbas">Souhila Belabbas</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper focuses on the Kabyles’ multilingual practices in the UK, within the Kabyle/Amazigh Cultural Organisation in London, on online platforms and at home.
