בסקין, פקח היחידה הימית ברשות הטבע והגנים. בסיוע של פקח החוף, שלו שחר וטרקטור מטעם העירייה, הועמסה הכרישה לרכב הרשות והיא נלקחה למרכז הארצי להצלת צבי ים של רשות הטבע והגנים, לצורך ביצוע נתיחה. את הנתיחה ערכו ד\"ר דני מוריק, ראש החוג לביוטכנולוגיות כחולות וחקלאות ימית מקיימת בבית הספר למדעי הים ע\"ש צ'רני באוניברסיטת חיפה וראש תחום פטולוגיה ימית בתחנת מוריס קהאן לחקר הים, וד\"ר יניב לוי, מנהל המרכז הארצי להצלת צבי ים. הנתיחה התבצעה במסגרת המחקר ארוך הטווח של תחנת מוריס קאהן לחקר הים על אוכלוסיית הכרישים המקומית. לאחר שהתברר כי מדובר בנקבה, הוחלט לבצע בדיקת אולטרסאונד בכדי לזהות הימצאות של עוברים חיים בגופה. ד\"ר יניב לוי, בסיוע עובדי ומתנדבי המרכז הארצי להצלת צבי ים, ביצע את הבדיקה אך לא גילה סימני חיים. בסיוע אנשי המרכז, הוצאו ארבעה עוברים שהובאו לאישוש במיכל מי ים - אך ניסיון להציל אותם לא צלח. מאוחר יותר דווח כי נמצאו בגופה של הכרישה 11 עוברים - שבע נקבות וארבעה זכרים. \"הכרישה ההיריונית באורך של שלושה מטרים ובמשקל של 165 קילוגרמים, הגיעה אלינו ללא רוח חיים, לאחר שנפלטה לחוף אולגה. מדובר בנקבה גדולה ומרשימה, בשלב היריוני התחלתי\", אמר ד\"ר לוי. \"העוברים היו עדיין מחוברים לחבל הטבור בתוך השלייה והסיכויים להצילם בעונה זו היו קלושים, אך שווה היה לנסות להצילם\". ד\"ר לוי הוסיף כי מדובר בכריש המצוי בטבע בסכנת הכחדה. \"אני מאמין שנגלה ממצאים נוספים לגבי הסיבה למותה, בתום הנתיחה שלאחר המוות\", הוא אמר בתיעוד שהתפרסם השבוע ברשתות החברתיות, תועד כריש שנתפס באזור חדרה ברשת של דייגים, שהצליחו לשחרר אותו בחזרה לים. ברשות הטבע והגנים אמרו כי לא ידוע אם מדובר באותו פרט, שנפלט מת הבוקר לחוף. ד\"ר אביעד שיניין, ראש תחום טורפי על בתחנת מוריס קהאן לחקר הים של בית הספר למדעי הים ע\"ש צ'רני באוניברסיטת חיפה, אמר: \"זו שנה חריגה בהיקפי האירועים של כרישים מתים שהגיעו לחוף במהלך העונה ולא היו מקרים כאלה בעשור האחרון\". הוא הוסיף כי \"הכרישה הזו לא תויגה במסגרת המחקר הפעיל אחר אוכלוסיית הכרישים מסוג סנפירתן ועפרורי. על פי הגודל והמשקל, מדובר בכרישה בוגרת ומאסיבית. גודל העוברים מצביע על כך שהם היו עדיין בשלב מוקדם לחייהם\". החוקר הוסיף כי \"אין מספיק נתונים על הכרישים באוניברסיטת חיפה וראש תחום פטולוגיה ימית בתחנת מוריס קהאן לחקר הים, וד"ר יניב לוי, מנהל המרכז הארצי להצלת צבי ים. הנתיחה התבצעה במסגרת המחקר ארוך הטווח של תחנת מוריס קאהן לחקר הים על אוכלוסיית הכרישים של עוברים חיים בגופה. ד"ר יניב לוי, בסיוע עובדי ומתנדבי המרכז הארצי להצלת צבי ים, ביצע את הבדיקה אך לא גילה סימני חיים. בסיוע אנשי המרכז, הוצאו ארבעה עוברים שהובאו לאישוש במיכל מי ים - אך ניסיון להציל אותם לא צלח. מאוחר יותר דווח כי נמצאו בגופה של הכרישה 11 עוברים - שבע נקבות וארבעה זכרים.</span></span></div></div><div class="text_editor_paragraph rtl" data-block="true" data-editor="d836t" ההיריונית באורך של שלושה מטרים ובמשקל של 165 קילוגרמים, הגיעה אלינו ללא רוח חיים, לאחר שנפלטה לחוף אולגה. מדובר בנקבה גדולה ומרשימה, בשלב היריוני התחלתי", אמר ד"ר לוי. למדעי הים ע"ש צ'רני באוניברסיטת חיפה, אמר: "זו שנה חריגה בהיקפי האירועים של כרישים מתים שהגיעו לחוף במהלך העונה ולא היו מקרים כאלה בעשור האחרון". הוא הוסיף כי "הכרישה הזו לא תויגה במסגרת המחקר הפעיל אחר אוכלוסיית הכרישים מסוג סנפירתן ועפרורי. על פי הגודל והמשקל, מדובר בכרישה בוגרת ומאסיבית. גודל העוברים מצביע על כך שהם היו עדיין בשלב מוקדם לחייהם".</span></span></div></div><figure
