"בשונה מנקבת הכריש ההיריונית שהגיעה לפני מספר שבועות עם קרסי דיג בקיבה, הפעם לאחר נתיחה לאחר המוות, לא נמצאו קרסי דיג בקיבת הכריש, אך אותר בפה קרס דיג קטן וחוט דיג קרוע", אמר ד"ר מוריק. הוא הוסיף כי מרכז ההצלה לצבי ים, "שלל הלוואי מדיג בישראל גורם לפגיעות ישירות בערכי טבע מוגנים, ביניהם כרישים וצבי ים. למעשה מסכנים חיות מרהיבות ונדירות שמצויות בים התיכון. אנחנו רואים את הפגיעות הללו בצבי הים זיהוי, הכריש נבדק על ידי ד"ר לי ליבנה מתחנת מוריס קהאן, אולם לא התגלה כי מדובר בכריש שתוייג בעבר על ידי החוקרים. </span></span></div></div><div class="text_editor_paragraph rtl" data-block="true" data-text="true">ד"ר אביעד שיינין, ראש תחום טורפי־העל בתחנת מוריס קאהן, הוסיף כי באזור ישנם לא מעט כרישים: "התקבצות הכרישים בחדרה מאופיינת בשני מינים - כרישות עפרוריות וכרישים סנפירתנים זכרים. כולם בוגרים. הסנפירתנים הזכרים חוזרים כמעט בכל שנה לחדרה בחודשים דצמבר וינואר. אולם, הם לא נשארים במשך העונה כולה, אלא יוצאים לים הפתוח וחוזרים לסירוגין עד לחודשים אפריל או מאי. בנוסף ישנן גם מעט
