Solomon was sacrificing one thousand offerings on that altar <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>Because in Gebun then, LORD JEHOVAH was revealed to Solomon in a vision of the night, and God said to him: &#8221;Ask what I shall give you.&#8221;<p> <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And Solomon said: &#8220;You have performed with your Servant, David, my father, great grace, according to how he walked before you, in the truth, and in faith, and in rightness of heart he walked before you, and you have kept for him this great grace, and you have given him a son to dwell on his throne, as today. <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And now, LORD JEHOVAH God, you have made your servant King for the sake of David my father, and I am a small boy and I do not know how to go out and to come in among your people whom you have chosen <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>An abundant people that is not numbered and is not counted from its multitude. <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>Give to your servant a hearing heart to judge your people and to discern between good and evil, for who can judge this, your great people?&#8221;<p> <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And this answer was pleasing before LORD JEHOVAH when Solomon asked this thing <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH said to Solomon: &#8220;Because you requested this matter, and you have not requested for yourself riches and you have not requested for yourself the lives of your enemies, and you have not requested for yourself many days, and you have asked for yourself wisdom to hear judgment. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>Behold I have done to you according to your word. Now I have given you a wise and intelligent heart so that there was none like you before you, and none like you shall arise after you <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>Also that which you have not requested I have given to you: also riches, also honor, so that there is no man like you among Kings all your days. <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And if you will walk in my ways to keep my covenant and my commandments, according to what David your father walked, I shall multiply your days.&#8221;<p> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And Solomon was awakened and he saw it was a dream, and he came to Jerusalem and stood before the Ark of the Covenant of LORD JEHOVAH, and offered up sacrifices and made peace offerings, and he made a feast for all his Servants.<p> <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>Then two women harlots came to be judged before King Solomon. <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And one woman of them said: &#8220;I beg of you my Lord, I and this woman were dwelling in one house, and I gave birth with her in the house. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>And after three days when I gave birth, this woman also gave birth, and we were together in the house, and there was no male stranger with us, but only we two in the house. <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And the son of this one woman died in the night, because she lay upon him. <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And she arose at the middle of the night, and she took my son from me, and your Maidservant was sleeping, and she laid him in her bosom, and she put her dead son in my bosom. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>And I arose at dawn to suckle my son, and I saw he was dead, and I examined him at dawn, and he was not my son whom I delivered!&#8221; <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And this other woman said: &#8220;It was not this way! My son is alive and your son is dead!&#8221; And she was saying: &#8220;It is not so!&#8221; Your son is dead and my son is alive!&#8221; And they were arguing before the King.<p> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-23.htm#aramaic"><b></b></a></span> <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And the King said: &#8221;Bring me a sword.&#8221; And they brought a sword before the King. <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>And the King said: &#8220;Cut the living boy in two, and give half of him to one and a half to the other one.&#8221; <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And that woman whose son was living said to the King, because her love yearned for her son: &#8220;I beg of you, my Lord, give the child to her while he is alive, and you shall not kill him!&#8221; And this other was saying: &#8220;He shall not be mine or yours. Cut him in pieces!&#8221; <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/3-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>The King answered and said: &#8220;Give her the living boy, and you shall not kill him!
