<t><p class="indent1">I will break<MH6555> down<MH6555> its wall<MH1447> and it will become<MH1961> trampled<MH4823> ground<MH4823>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/5-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>“I will lay<MH7896> it waste<MH1326>; <t><p class="indent1">For righteousness<MH6666>, but behold<MH2009>, a cry<MH6818> for<MH6818> help<MH6818>. <p class="hdg">Woes for the Wicked</p><poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/5-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Woe<MH1945> to those who attach<MH5060> house<MH1004> to house<MH1004> <i>and</i> join<MH7126> field<MH7704> to field<MH7704>, <t><p class="indent1">Until<MH5704> there is no<MH657> more<MH657> room<MH4725>, <t><p class="indent1">And you alone<MH905> are a landowner<MH3427> in the midst<MH7130> of the land<MH776>! <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/5-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>In my ears<MH241> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635> <i>has sworn,</i> “Many<MH7227a> houses<MH1004> shall certainly<MH518, 3808> become<MH1961> desolate<MH8047>, <t><p class="indent1"><i>Even</i> great<MH1419> and fine<MH2896a> ones<MH2896a>, without<MH369> occupants<MH3427>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/5-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>“For ten<MH6235> acres<MH6776> of vineyard<MH3754> will yield<MH6213a> <i>only</i> one<MH259> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>bath<MH1324> <i>of wine,</i> <t><p class="indent1">And a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>homer<MH2563c> of seed<MH2233> will yield<MH6213a> <i>only</i> an <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>ephah<MH374> of grain.” <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/5-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Woe<MH1945> to those who rise<MH7925> early<MH7925> in the morning<MH1242> so that they may pursue<MH7291> intoxicating<MH7941> drink<MH7941>, <t><p class="indent1">Who stay<MH309> up<MH309> late<MH309> in the evening<MH5399> so that wine<MH3196> may inflame<MH1814> them! <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/5-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Their banquets<MH4960> are <i>accompanied by</i> lyre<MH3658> and harp<MH5035b>, <i>by</i> tambourine<MH8596> and flute<MH2485>, and <i>by</i> wine<MH3196>; <t><p class="indent1">But they do not pay<MH5027> attention<MH5027> to the deeds<MH6467> of the LORD<MH3068>, <t><p class="indent1">Nor<MH3808> do they consider<MH7200> the work<MH4639> of His hands<MH3027>. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/5-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Therefore<MH3651> My people<MH5971a> go<MH1540> into<MH1540> exile<MH1540> for their lack<MH1097> of knowledge<MH1847>;
