and two<MH8147> of the animals<MH929> that are not clean<MH2889>, a male<MH376> and his female<MH802>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>also<MH1571> of the birds<MH5775> of the sky<MH8064>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>seven<MH7651> pairs<MH7651>, male<MH2145> and female<MH5347>, to keep<MH2421a> <i>their</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>offspring<MH2233> alive<MH2421a> on the face<MH6440> of all<MH3605> the earth<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>For after seven<MH7651> more<MH5750> days<MH3117>, I will send<MH4305> rain<MH4305> on the earth<MH776> for forty<MH705> days<MH3117> and forty<MH705> nights<MH3915>; and I will wipe<MH4229a> out<MH4229a> from the face<MH6440> of the land<MH127> every<MH3605> living<MH3351> thing<MH3351> that I have made<MH6213a>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>So Noah<MH5146> acted<MH6213a> in accordance with everything<MH3605> that the LORD<MH3068> had commanded<MH6680> him. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Now Noah<MH5146> was six<MH8337a> hundred<MH3967> years<MH8141> old<MH1121> when the flood<MH3999> of water<MH4325> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>came<MH1961> upon the earth<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Then Noah<MH5146> and his sons<MH1121>, his wife<MH802>, and his sons’<MH1121> wives<MH802> with him entered<MH935> the ark<MH8392> because<MH4480, 6440> of the waters<MH4325> of the flood<MH3999>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Of clean<MH2889> animals<MH929> and animals<MH929> that are not clean<MH2889> and birds<MH5775> and everything<MH3605> that crawls<MH7430> on the ground<MH127>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>they <i>all</i> went<MH935> into the ark<MH8392> to Noah<MH5146> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>by twos<MH8147>, male<MH2145> and female<MH5347>, as God<MH430> had commanded<MH6680> Noah<MH5146>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Now it came<MH1961> about<MH1961> after the seven<MH7651> days<MH3117>, that the waters<MH4325> of the flood<MH3999> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>came<MH1961> upon the earth<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>In the six<MH8337a> hundredth<MH3967> year<MH8141> of Noah’s<MH5146> life<MH2425b>, in the second<MH8145> month<MH2320>, on the seventeenth<MH7651, 6240> day<MH3117> of the month<MH2320>, on that day<MH3117> all<MH3605> the fountains<MH4599> of the great<MH7227a> deep<MH8415> burst<MH1234> open<MH1234>, and the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>floodgates<MH699> of the sky<MH8064> were opened<MH6605a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>The rain<MH1653> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>fell<MH1961> upon the earth<MH776> for forty<MH705> days<MH3117> and forty<MH705> nights<MH3915>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>On this<MH2088> very<MH6106> same<MH6106> day<MH3117> Noah<MH5146>, Shem<MH8035>, Ham<MH2526>, and Japheth<MH3315>, the sons<MH1121> of Noah<MH5146>, and Noah’s<MH5146> wife<MH802> and the three<MH7969> wives<MH802> of his sons<MH1121> with them, entered<MH935> the ark<MH8392>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>they and every<MH3605> animal<MH2421b> according to its kind<MH4327>, and all<MH3605> the livestock<MH929> according to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>their kind<MH4327>, and every<MH3605> crawling<MH7431> thing<MH7431> that crawls<MH7430> on the earth<MH776> according to its kind<MH4327>, and every<MH3605> bird<MH5775> according to its kind<MH4327>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>all<MH3605> sorts<MH3671> of birds<MH6833>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>So they went<MH935> into the ark<MH8392> to Noah<MH5146>, by twos<MH8147> of all<MH3605> flesh<MH1320> in which<MH834> there was the breath<MH7307> of life<MH2425b>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Those that entered<MH935>, male<MH2145> and female<MH5347> of all<MH3605> flesh<MH1320>, entered<MH935> as God<MH430> had commanded<MH6680> him; and the LORD<MH3068> closed<MH5462> <i>the door</i> behind<MH1157> him. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Then the flood<MH3999> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>came<MH1961> upon the earth<MH776> for forty<MH705> days<MH3117>, and the water<MH4325> increased<MH7235a> and lifted<MH5375> up<MH5375> the ark<MH8392>, so that it rose<MH7311> above<MH4480, 5921> the earth<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>The water<MH4325> prevailed<MH1396> and increased<MH7235a> greatly<MH3966> upon the earth<MH776>, and the ark<MH8392> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>floated<MH1980> on the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>surface<MH6440> of the water<MH4325>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>And the water<MH4325> prevailed<MH1396> more<MH3966> and more<MH3966> upon the earth<MH776>, so that all<MH3605> the high<MH1364> mountains<MH2022> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>everywhere<MH3605> under<MH8478> the heavens<MH8064> were covered<MH3680>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>The water<MH4325> prevailed<MH1396> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>fifteen<MH2568, 6240> cubits<MH520> higher<MH4605>, and the mountains<MH2022> were covered<MH3680>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/7-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>So all<MH3605> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>creatures<MH1320> that moved<MH7430> on the earth<MH776> perished<MH1478>: birds<MH5775>, livestock<MH929>, animals<MH2421b>, and every<MH3605> swarming<MH8318> thing<MH8318> that swarms<MH8317> upon the earth<MH776>, and all<MH3605> mankind<MH120>;
