Our Collections Development Plan prioritizes collecting artifacts from unrepresented, underrepresented, misrepresented and erased people and groups in Saskatchewan鈥檚 history and the WDM collections. These groups have been identified as Indigenous, diverse settlers, and 2SLGBTQ+ people, communities and organizations. Saskatchewan innovation is also a high priority collecting category. </p> <hr> <p><strong>What Do We No Longer Collect? </strong><br>We appreciate all offers, but after more than 70 years of collecting, we cannot accept everything. Part of managing our artifact collection is having to respectfully decline objects already well represented in the collection. The WDM does not have the resources to collect artifacts to represent every type or time period of any particular object (i.e. encyclopedic collecting). A more detailed list of what we no longer collect can be found below. </p> <hr> <p><strong>What to Tell Us</strong><br>The more information you can tell us about your object and its history, the better. We also need to know if the object is in good condition and free from contaminants like mold, unsafe chemicals or hazardous materials such as asbestos. </p> <hr> <p><strong>Send Us Pictures</strong><br>Please send an image of what the object looks like today and historical photographs of the object in use, or of the people who used it. </p> <hr> <p><strong>Can I Drop Off My Object in Person? </strong><br>We ask that you do not bring artifact offers to any WDM location unless expressly requested by the Registrar. Any objects dropped off without contact information included are considered abandoned property and are disposed of. </p> <hr> <p><strong>What Happens Next</strong><br>The Registrar will compare your offer to artifacts already in our collection and to the WDM鈥檚 current collection priorities. They will contact you once a decision is made. </p> <hr> <p><strong>The Paperwork</strong><br>If your object is accepted, we will send you a transfer of ownership agreement. When signed, it transfers unconditional ownership of the object to the WDM.
