Ela parte da seguinte indagação: “No lugar em que a prática é constituída como investigação, como seriam as vozes do Sul na pesquisa em Arte e Design?” Ao organizar esta edição especial do DAT, pedimos a 13 doutorandos no Brasil e na Nova Zelândia que considerassem essas questões em relação à sua prática atual. A maioria dos autores está vinculada a duas universidades: Universidade Anhembi Morumbi em São Paulo, Brasil e Auckland University of Technology, em Auckland, Nova Zelândia. Ao escrever esses artigos, estes doutorandos assumiram a posição de primeiro autor e, apoiados por seus orientadores, consideraram a questão da investigação conduzida pela prática (practice-led) em relação a seus próprios projetos de pesquisa. Todos esses pesquisadores potencializam parâmetros para ativar formas distintas em que a prática pode recorrer ao conhecimento. Eles se baseiam em posições culturais, geográficas e ideológicas moldadas por seu pertencimento ao Sul. Assim, ao oferecer essas considerações de pesquisa conduzida pela prática (practice-led), propomos que aprendamos “a partir de” ao invés de “sobre” o processo de construção de conhecimento emergente que gera conhecimento além das ênfases do Norte Global. Esta edição especial propõe tanto convergências quanto divergências com o pensamento estabelecido. Ela emana do reconhecimento de que as “histórias peculiares que geram práticas sociais e artísticas formam encontros dialógicos com vozes nas periferias da autoridade e fazem um loop de um processo iterativo para gerar seus próprios alicerces teóricos”. Ao fazer isso, esta edição especial do DAT Journal oferece uma coleção de vozes distintas que falam a partir e para dentro de um mundo renegociador. Tentamos neste artigo - que é parte integrante da tese em história de arte que desenvolve o autor, de titulo O“Artesanato” como processo criativo: o exemplo da Barrística. Contributo para uma reflexão sobre a criatividade - analisar uma possibilidade que nos causa esse espanto. A possibilidade de a arte ser uma resposta de sobrevivência no ser humano (Cabeça. 2022a.). Analisamos as respostas cognitivas psicológicas, perante a arte, quer do ser humano primitivo, quer do homem moderno. Vamos neste ensaio especular sobre a espantosa ideia, trans disciplinar, da possibilidade de o comportamento simbólico, que origina a arte, além de não ser um exclusivo humano (Gentile. 2021) possa ser uma eventual consequência do processo e da luta pela sobrevivência da espécie. A criatividade, sendo fundamental também na base da produção artística, é de facto, comprovadamente, um mecanismo de sobrevivência em variadas espécies animais (Kaufman 2016. 4, pp. 29-36). A neurobiologia faz propostas de compreensão do mecanismo criativo também como um de projeção e associação de imagens do subconsciente (Coolidge et al. 2023), para melhor eficiência na relação do ser vivo com o meio ambiente onde tenta sobreviver. Toma como primeira investidura os casos de Lac (Sandro Borelli) e Les Poupées (Marta Soares). Com o modelo do Big Five – os cinco grandes fatores da personalidade – é possível o recorte de grupos de gestos e movimentos, comportamento não verbal, os que persistem como ação e reação, os quais são receptivos e reativos à própria ação, os insistentes a olho nu. Fazemos uso da observação e, consequentemente, interpretação a partir de gravação em DVDs em sistema de forward and rewind – avançar e retroceder – e freeze, o congelar das imagens de gravações em vídeo.
