as the management of waste from its inception to its disposal. This project deals with the problem of waste management in urban areas where the waste management process is not efficient. The main aim of the project is to automate the waste managing process, smartly, using the Internet of Things. In the proposed system, we aim to measure the fill level of dry and wet dustbin and send a notification to the garbage collector if the fill level exceeds 75% mark. We have also provided a data monitoring feature. The ultrasonic sensors measure the bin level and the result is displayed on the serial monitor of Arduino IDE, this result is also stored in a Thingspeak channel and the alert notification is sent using IFTTT service. So, the proposed systems find the solution for the garbage disposal by designing a smart dust bin by managing the garbage. The garbage is collected, and the garbage collector sent from the control room. The smart dustbin sends the message to the control room through the sensors attached to it. Servo motor is connected to lid which assists action of closing and opening of lid. In this system, level of waste in bin will be sent to concerned authorities. At the same phase there is an increase in waste production. Waste management has been a crucial issue to be considered. Smart bin is built on a microcontroller-based platform Arduino Mega 2560 board which is interfaced with Ultrasonic sensor and Rain drop Sensor. Ultrasonic sensor is placed at the top of the dustbin which will measure the height of the dustbin. The threshold height is set as 20cm. Arduino will be programmed in such a way that when the dustbin is being filled, notification will pop up in Blynk app. Once the garbage reaches the threshold level, ultrasonic sensor will alert the required authority until the garbage in the dustbin is squashed. Once the dustbin is squashed, people can reuse the dustbin. Once these smart bins are implemented on a large scale, by replacing our traditional bins present today, waste can be managed efficiently as it avoids unnecessary lumping of wastes on roadside. Foul smell from these rotten wastes that remain untreated for a long time, due to negligence of authorities and carelessness of public may lead to long term problems. Breeding of insects and mosquitoes can create nuisance around promoting unclean environment.
