We are committed to the advancement of the educational and technical efficiency of our members.</p><p>ISPE was founded in 1980 by a handful of people who believed the pharmaceutical industry needed an organization that would deal with practical applications of science and technology for technical professionals. The much-needed forum provided by ISPE began with a membership of engineers in North America. We recognize and thank each of our <a href="/about/founding-members" title="Founding Members" data-entity-type="node" data-entity-uuid="9bf99440-5f31-4a01-9d36-9c29af08fbef" data-entity-substitution="canonical">Founding Members</a> for their forethought and inspirational ideas, which led to ISPE’s establishment and have helped continued to impact who we are today.</p><p>Today, our membership base has expanded far beyond engineering to include a broad representation of more than 21,000 pharmaceutical professionals, representing 120 countries. We also have <a href="/Communities-Practice" title="Communities of Practice">ISPE Communities of Practice</a> (CoPs), which serve as technical engines uniting professionals worldwide to generate meaningful content in our gold standard documents, training programs, and conference programs. ISPE CoPs cover 20 unique technical areas in the pharmaceutical industry, including GAMP® which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2021. Professional communities include Affiliates/Chapters, Women in Pharma®, and Emerging Leaders. ISPE’s networking platform ISPE Engage continues to facilitate an open forum for all members and each community of practice to virtually connect and collaborate.</p><p>Together, we lead and facilitate the development of next-generation process technologies and innovative technical solutions.
