There are many lessons that schools can learn from the online learning industry. Over the last five years, the industry has learnt to separate technology from methodology and channel more resources into instructional designs and approaches. Every few months, a new trend hits the online learning industry in corporations around the world. This paper aims to place three interrelated new trends (reusable learning objects, blended learning and instructional design) in online learning within the context of schools and their implications for schools.
