eldest son of Prince George who was the fourth son of King George V. He is also through his mother Princess Marina, daughter of Prince Nicholas of Greece, a cousin of Prince Philip.<br><br>He was born in 1935 and educated at Eton College and Le Rosey School in Switzerland. He is a qualified interpreter of French, and attended the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst after which he served with the Army in Hong Kong and Cyprus. He inherited the Dukedom on the death of his father who was killed in 1942 on active service with the RAF.<br><br>In 1961 he married Katharine Worsley, daughter of Sir William and Lady Worsley. They have three children George, Earl of St Andrews, born in 1962, Lady Helen Taylor, born in 1964, and Lord Nicholas Windsor born in 1970. None of their children carry out official royal duties. Since the Earl of St. Andrews married a Catholic, and Lord Nicholas became a Catholic they are no longer in the line of succession.<br><br>The Duke and The Duchess of Kent undertake a large number of official Royal engagements and have close associations with many charities, professional bodies and other organisations.
