Its</div><div>excellent mechanical properties as well as its suitability for high temperature</div><div>applications, make it fit for many industrial applications. However, titanium alloy has</div><div>low thermal conductivity, which makes it susceptible to poor machinability and</div><div>dimensional inaccuracies during machining operations. In this study, a comprehensive</div><div>review of the literature was carried out in order to identify the various strategies</div><div>suitable for enhancing the machinability of titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V). However, due to their high</div><div>hydroxyl content of cellulose, natural fibres are susceptible to water absorption, which</div><div>invariably affects the mechanical properties of the composite adversely. Researchers</div><div>have proven that nanomaterials such as Nano silica Carbide (n-Sic) or nanoclay mixed</div><div>with the polymer composites can overcome the problem. This study investigates the</div><div>mechanical and microstructural properties of tiger nut fibres reinforced polymer</div><div>composites tailored to the automotive application. Tiger nut fibres mixed with nanoclay</div><div>to the size of 50≤μm were used to reinforce epoxy in three levels of loading 2, 4, 6%</div><div>respectively. Mechanical and microstructural properties of the composites produced</div><div>were examined. The results showed an increasing trend of 84, 99, 102 MPa and 110,</div><div>125, 138 MPa for tiger nut-epoxy and tiger nut-nanoclay epoxy composites,</div><div>respectively, in the tensile strength. Also, an increasing trend of 80, 84, 88 BHV and</div><div>87, 94, 98 BHV were observed for tiger nut-epoxy and tiger nut-nanoclay epoxy</div><div>composites, respectively, for hardness. Water absorption capacity decreases as the</div><div>percentage weight fractions of the reinforcement increases but increases as the duration</div><div>of immersion in boiling water increases. The microstructures showed good interfacial</div><div>adhesion between reinforcement and polymer matrix when mixed with nanoclay. The</div><div>conventional consideration for selecting Mg alloy elements is based on their corrosion</div><div>resistance, good hardness, and strength. Therefore, some of the alloying elements that</div><div>enable the above properties are zinc, calcium, and aluminum. The future requirement of</div><div>biomaterial involves non-toxicity in addition to the existing properties. The tensile</div><div>strength and hardness of polymeric materials used as a replacement for metallic</div><div>materials in biomedical applications were lesser. Therefore, calcium and zinc were</div><div>sourced organically from cow bones and cocoa seeds, respectively, to eliminate the</div><div>adverse effect of the inorganic source of the same element. Zinc and calcium were</div><div>alloyed with magnesium at different percentages recommended by Junjin, 2017</div><div>experiments (0.23% Zn, 0.15% Ca in alloy 1 and 0.25% Zn, 0.23% Ca in alloy 2). The</div><div>hardness, tensile strength, and percentage elongation of the as-cast materials from</div><div>organic alloy sources were investigated and compared to similar experiments from the</div><div>literature with the inorganic alloy source. Surface quality is a critical characteristic of any product</div><div>manufactured additively. Hence, this study presents a process of selective laser melting</div><div>used to manufacture 10 mm thin-walled metal tubes in cubes from Ti6Al4V powders.</div><div>The laser used was an IPG YLS 500 Ytterbium fibre laser operating at 1076 nm</div><div>wavelength with a 50 μm fibre delivery system using different laser contour scanning</div><div>parameters. The scanner used was an Intelliweld 30 FC V system. A custom-built</div><div>selective laser-melting platform enclosed within an inert glovebox enclosure was used</div><div>for the part building. A complementary surface engineering strategy was employed</div><div>using the statistical model approach of response surface methodology (RSM) to analyse</div><div>the surface finish quality of SLM fabricated Ti6Al4V alloy. The selected variables</div><div>optimised were the power density and consolidation rates, with their interactive effect</div><div>on the experimental responses (surface roughness and top edge quality). The results</div><div>obtained indicated that higher consolidation rates and mid-range power densities had</div><div>better surface finishes due to a more stable melt pool. This study develops the radiometer casing using</div><div>the Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) of the AM technology. The 3D model of the</div><div>casing was modeled in a Rhinoceros environment while the implementation was</div><div>carried out using the FFF. The optimisation of the process parameters was carried out</div><div>using the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and the Central Composite Design</div><div>(CCD). The range of the process parameters were: extrusion temperature (230-250oC),</div><div>extrusion velocity (50 mm/sec-250 mm/sec), filament orientation (0-90o) and layer</div><div>thickness (0.10-0.50 mm). Taking the surface roughness as the response of the</div><div>designed experiment, the statistical analysis of the results obtained from the numerical</div><div>and physical experiments was used to obtain a predictive model for surface roughness.</div><div>Furthermore, the combinations of the process parameters that produced the least</div><div>surface roughness (2.05μm) were: extrusion temperature (240 oC), extrusion velocity</div><div>(150 mm/sec), filament orientation (45o) as well as layer thickness (0.30 mm). However, the magnitude of these improvements relies on extrusion load and</div><div>temperature applied. This research assesses the impact of these extrusion variables on</div><div>the mechanical properties and stress distributions in the Aluminum 6063 (Al 6063)</div><div>produced by ECAE. Specimens of Al6063 alloy were extruded through a locally</div><div>designed and manufactured ECAE die using two factors of extrusion in three levels:</div><div>temperature (350 oC, 425 oC, 500 oC) and punch load (1000, 1100, and 1200 kN). The</div><div>speed of the ram was held steady at 5 mm/s. The tensile strength of all extruded</div><div>aluminum alloys was assessed with the universal test machine. Specimens of identical</div><div>sizes and attributes were also modeled using qform software under extended applied</div><div>load and temperature to investigate the distribution of stress in the extrudates. Research</div><div>findings revealed that the temperature of the billet had an impact on the tensile strength</div><div>more considerably than the load applied. Results of simulation revealed that more</div><div>homogeneity of stress at a lower magnitude was noticed in extrudates with an</div><div>increment in temperature of the billet. The simulation also reiterated the dominance of</div><div>the billet temperature over the applied load on the stress dispersion with a maximum</div><div>extrusion load of 500 kN at 350 oC temperature, regardless of the load applied. This</div><div>result reveals how extrusion temperature increase and load enhance the tensile strength of alloys but in varying degrees. Thus, both qualitative and quantitative approaches</div><div>were used. Furthermore, there was a combination of exploratory and descriptive</div><div>characters in the study. Lean assessment tools that can be used in warehouse</div><div>environments were developed. From the lean maturity evaluation of the warehouses,</div><div>overall maturity is averagely implemented. Analyses of the warehouse productivity</div><div>show good implementation with a score of ≥80-90%. There is a direct relationship</div><div>between lean practices and productivity. Warehouse quality falls within the average</div><div>level of implementation with a score of ≥60-80%. Employee satisfaction has little or no</div><div>effect on overall maturity with the score within the average level of implementation of</div><div>≥60-80%. This study seeks to</div><div>predict the drift of industrial accidents in manufacturing companies in Delta State,</div><div>Nigeria in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in the workplace. Markov Chain</div><div>(MC) model was used to analyse eleven year industrial accident data obtained from a</div><div>primary source: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) department of a manufacturing</div><div>company in the Delta state of Nigeria. The data was summarised as integrated safety</div><div>data to give a better picture of the organisation safety culture. The data was analysed</div><div>and found to have absorbing chain tendencies. It also possesses a note of stochastic</div><div>regularity, which fits into an MC model. Accident data in the company were classified</div><div>into five states, namely fatality, loss time accident, medical aid accident, first aid</div><div>incident, and near-miss. The result from the study reveals that fatality and loss time</div><div>accidents were absorbing states, while medical aid accidents, first aid incidents, and</div><div>near-miss were found to be non-absorbing states. A worker who commits an error in</div><div>the form of near miss 1000 times stands a chance of fatality 77 times out of this total</div><div>time of work error. The Markov</div><div>Chain (MC) model was also used to analyse industrial accident occurrence trends.</div><div>Also, multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to predict the pattern of</div><div>productivity of fibre cement roofing sheet products.<br> <br></div><div>Our results show that Kendall coefficient of concordance employed ranked the sixtyone</div><div>variables of fibre cement roofing sheet in descending order of importance.</div><div>Furthermore, SPC results on customers’ complaints revealed sticking sheets, broken</div><div>edges, and weak lines as the main cause of product defects, while the inadequate</div><div>maintenance on production machines was not identified as the root cause. Due to the</div><div>implementation of Quality Management Committee (QMC) suggestions, the product</div><div>process capability was boosted to 1.19. Product density of 600 observations was</div><div>considered, and all observations fell within the R and X charts control limit. This work focuses on the development, sizing of an</div><div>engine, and simulation of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), including the assembly</div><div>of the whole propulsion system in the UAV. The mission of the developed UAV is for</div><div>short range (25-100 km). The propulsion system consists of the following: the engine,</div><div>muffler, electronic ignition system, fuel tank, engine servos, propeller, firewall, and</div><div>battery. These components assembled together give the UAV its required thrust for</div><div>flight. The design calculations were done, and simulations for the design were carried</div><div>out using Solid Works and AutoCAD. The developed UAV was constructed using local</div><div>materials such as Styrofoam and wood. It was driven by a two stroke internal</div><div>combustion engine (gas engine) and an electric motor controlled by an electric speed</div><div>controller (ESC). The performance evaluation of the developed UAV was carried out</div><div>using the virtual X-Plane flight simulator. The results obtained indicated that that the</div><div>developed UAV can be deployed for the short-range missions. This work provides</div><div>design data for the development of the UAV.
