class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Gas fire extinguishing system is widely used due to its cleanliness and efficiency, and since its spray will be affected by many factors such as convection and obstacles in jetting region, so in order to evaluate its effectiveness, detecting concentration distribution in the jetting area is indispensable, which is commonly achieved by aspirating concentration detection technique. During the concentration measurement, the response time of detector is a very important parameter, especially for those fire-extinguishing systems with rapid gas dispersion. Long response time will not only underestimate its concentration but also prolong the change of concentration with time. Therefore it is necessary to analyze the factors influencing the response time. In the paper, an aspirating concentration detection method was introduced, which is achieved by using a small critical nozzle and a laminar flowmeter, and because of the response time is mainly related to the gas transport process from sampling site to the sensor, the effects of exhaust pipe size, gas flow rate, and gas concentration on its response time were analyzed. During the research, Bromotrifluoromethane (CBrF₃) was used. The effect of the sampling tube was investigated with different length of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 m (5mm in pipe diameter) and different pipe diameter of 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 mm (3m in length). The effect of gas flow rate was analyzed by changing the throat diameter of the critical nozzle with 0.5, 0.682, 0.75, 0.8, 0.84 and 0.88 mm. The effect of gas concentration on response time was studied with the concentration range of 0-25%. The result showed that the response time increased with the increase of both the length and diameter of the sampling pipe, and the effect of length on response time was linear, but for the effect of diameter, it was exponential. It was also found that as the throat diameter of critical nozzle increased, the response time reduced a lot, in other words, gas flow rate has a great influence on response time. For the effect of gas concentration, the response time increased with the increase of the CBrF₃ concentration, and the slope of the curve was reduced. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aspirating%20concentration%20detection" title="aspirating concentration detection">aspirating concentration detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fire%20extinguishing" title=" fire extinguishing"> fire extinguishing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gaseous%20agent" title=" gaseous agent"> gaseous agent</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=response%20time" title=" response time"> response time</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74810/analysis-of-factors-influencing-the-response-time-of-an-aspirating-gaseous-agent-concentration-detection-method" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74810.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">270</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21961</span> Design of Real Time Early Response Systems for Natural Disaster Management Based on Automation and Control Technologies</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=C.%20Pacheco">C. Real Time Early Response Systems (RTERSs) incorporate real time information as feedback data for closing control loop and for generating real time situation assessment. A review of the state of the art works that fit the concept of RTERS is presented, and it is found that they are mainly focused on manmade disasters. At the same time, in response phase of natural disaster management many works are involved in creating early warning systems, but just few efforts have been put on deciding what to do once an alarm is activated. In this context a RTERS arises as a useful tool for supporting people in their decision making process during natural disasters after an event is detected, and also as an innovative context for applying well-known automation technologies and automatic control concepts and tools. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=disaster%20management" title="disaster management">disaster management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emergency%20response%20system" title=" emergency response system"> emergency response system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=natural%20disasters" title=" natural disasters"> natural disasters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=real%20time" title=" real time"> real time</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26120/design-of-real-time-early-response-systems-for-natural-disaster-management-based-on-automation-and-control-technologies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26120.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">444</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21960</span> Study of the Responding Time for Low Permeability Reservoirs</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=G.%20Lei">G. The responding time in low permeability reservoir is usually calculated by the method of stable state successive substitution neglecting the effect of medium deformation. Numerous studies show that the media deformation has an important impact on the development for low permeability reservoirs and can not be neglected. On the base of streamline tube model, we developed a method to interpret responding time with medium deformation factor. The results show that: the media deformation factor, threshold pressure gradient and well spacing have a significant effect on the flood response time. The greater the media deformation factor, threshold pressure gradient or well spacing is, the lower the flood response time is. The responding time of different streamlines varies. As the angle with the main streamline increases, the water flooding response time delays as a "parabola" shape. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20permeability" title="low permeability">low permeability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flood-response%20time" title=" flood-response time"> flood-response time</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=threshold%20pressure%20gradient" title=" threshold pressure gradient"> threshold pressure gradient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=medium%20deformation" title=" medium deformation"> medium deformation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11166/study-of-the-responding-time-for-low-permeability-reservoirs" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11166.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">499</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21959</span> Effect of CuO, Al₂O₃ and ZnO Nanoparticles on the Response Time for Natural Convection</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mefteh%20Bouhalleb">Mefteh Bouhalleb</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With the recent progress in nanotechnology, nanofluids have excellent potentiality in many modern engineering processes, particularly for solar systems such as concentrated solar power plants (CSP). In this context, a numerical simulation is performed to investigate laminar natural convection nanofluids in an inclined rectangular enclosure. Mass conservation, momentum, and energy equations are numerically solved by the finite volume element method using the SIMPLER algorithm for pressure-velocity coupling. In this work, we tested the acting factors on the system response time, such as the particle volume fraction of nanoparticles, particle material, particle size, an inclination angle of enclosure and Rayleigh number. The results show that the diameter of solid particles and Rayleigh number plays an important role in the system response time. The orientation angle of the cavity affects the system response time. Controlled driving experiments were conducted with fourteen participants (11 male, 3 female) across three locations chosen for their varying traffic conditions to account for differences in driver alertness. Participants interacted with various seat designs while performing driving tasks, and objective metrics such as braking and steering response times were meticulously recorded. Advanced statistical methods, including regression analysis and t-tests, were employed to identify design factors that significantly affect driver response times. Subjective feedback was gathered through detailed questionnaires—focused on driving experience and knowledge of response time—and in-depth interviews. This qualitative data was analyzed thematically to provide insights into driver comfort and usability preferences. The study aims to identify key seat design features that impact driver response time and to gain a deeper understanding of driver preferences for comfort and usability. The findings are expected to inform evidence-based guidelines for optimizing car seat design, ultimately enhancing driver performance and safety. The research offers valuable implications for automotive manufacturers and designers, contributing to the development of seats that improve driver response time and overall driving safety. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=car%20seat%20design" title="car seat design">car seat design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=driver%20response%20time" title=" driver response time"> driver response time</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cognitive%20driving" title=" cognitive driving"> cognitive driving</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ergonomics%20optimization" title=" ergonomics optimization"> ergonomics optimization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/190738/from-comfort-to-safety-assessing-the-influence-of-car-seat-design-on-driver-reaction-and-performance" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/190738.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">24</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21956</span> Selection of Rayleigh Damping Coefficients for Seismic Response Analysis of Soil Layers</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huai-Feng%20Wang">Huai-Feng Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meng-Lin%20Lou"> Meng-Lin Lou</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ru-Lin%20Zhang"> Ru-Lin Zhang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One good analysis method in seismic response analysis is direct time integration, which widely adopts Rayleigh damping. In this research, improvement of transient voltage response is done by using power system stabilizer-static var compensator (PSS-SVC) based on adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS)-algorithm. The main function of the PSS is to add damping component to damp rotor oscillation through automatic voltage regulator (AVR) and excitation system. Learning process of the ANFIS is done by using off-line method where data learning that is used to train the ANFIS model are obtained by simulating the PSS-SVC conventional. The ANFIS model uses 7 Gaussian membership functions at two inputs and 49 rules at an output. Then, the ANFIS-PSS and ANFIS-SVC models are applied to power systems. This influence was presented in the relaxation time and other parameters as well. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=activation%20energy" title="activation energy">activation energy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DC%20conductivity" title=" DC conductivity"> DC conductivity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dielectric%20relaxation" title=" dielectric relaxation"> dielectric relaxation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=enthalpy%20change" title=" enthalpy change"> enthalpy change</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Moringa%20leaves%20extract" title=" Moringa leaves extract"> Moringa leaves extract</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relaxation%20time" title=" relaxation time"> relaxation time</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/105917/influence-of-moringa-leaves-extract-on-the-response-of-hb-molecule-to-dose-rates-changes-ii-relaxation-time-and-its-thermodynamic-driven-state-functions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/105917.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">147</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21953</span> Response Delay Model: Bridging the Gap in Urban Fire Disaster Response System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sulaiman%20Yunus">Sulaiman Yunus</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The need for modeling response to urban fire disaster cannot be over emphasized, as recurrent fire outbreaks have gutted most cities of the world. This necessitated the need for a prompt and efficient response system in order to mitigate the impact of the disaster. Promptness, as a function of time, is seen to be the fundamental determinant for efficiency of a response system and magnitude of a fire disaster. Delay, as a result of several factors, is one of the major determinants of promptgness of a response system and also the magnitude of a fire disaster. Response Delay Model (RDM) intends to bridge the gap in urban fire disaster response system through incorporating and synchronizing the delay moments in measuring the overall efficiency of a response system and determining the magnitude of a fire disaster. The model identified two delay moments (pre-notification and Intra-reflex sequence delay) that can be elastic and collectively plays a significant role in influencing the efficiency of a response system. Due to variation in the elasticity of the delay moments, the model provides for measuring the length of delays in order to arrive at a standard average delay moment for different parts of the world, putting into consideration geographic location, level of preparedness and awareness, technological advancement, socio-economic and environmental factors. It is recommended that participatory researches should be embarked on locally and globally to determine standard average delay moments within each phase of the system so as to enable determining the efficiency of response systems and predicting fire disaster magnitudes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=delay%20moment" title="delay moment">delay moment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fire%20disaster" title=" fire disaster"> fire disaster</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reflex%20sequence" title=" reflex sequence"> reflex sequence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=response" title=" response"> response</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=response%20delay%20moment" title=" response delay moment"> response delay moment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/111201/response-delay-model-bridging-the-gap-in-urban-fire-disaster-response-system" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/111201.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">207</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21952</span> Studies on H2S Gas Sensing Performance of Al2O3-Doped ZnO Thick Films at Ppb Level</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20K.%20Deore">M. AR grade (99.9 % pure) Zinc Oxide powder were mixed mechanochemically in acetone medium with Aluminium Chloride (AlCl2) material in various weight percentages such as 0.5, 1, 3 and 5 wt % to obtain Al2O3 - ZnO composite. The prepared materials were sintered at 1000oC for 12h in air ambience and ball milled to ensure sufficiently fine particle size. The electrical, structural and morphological properties of the films were investigated. The X-ray diffraction analysis of pure and doped ZnO shows the polycrystalline nature. The surface morphology of the films was studied by SEM. The final composition of each film was determined by EDAX analysis. The gas response of undoped and Al2O3- doped ZnO films were studied for different gases such as CO, H2, NH3, and H2S at operating temperature ranging from 50 oC to 450 o C. The pure film shows the response to H2S gas (500ppm) at 300oC while the film doped with 3 wt.% Al2O3 gives the good response to H2S gas(ppb) at 350oC. Therefore, today, the application of risk management is inevitable. Although in theory, the issue of risk management is divided into the opportunities and threats management, in practice, most of the projects have been focused on the threats management. However, considering the opportunities management and applying the opportunities-response strategies can lead to the improved profitability of the construction projects of the companies. In this paper, a new technique is developed to identify the opportunities in the construction projects using an improved protocol and propose the appropriate opportunities-response strategies to the construction companies to provide them with higher profitability. To evaluate the effectiveness of the protocol for selecting the most appropriate strategies in response to the opportunities and threats, two projects from a construction company in Iran were studied. Both projects selected were in mid-range in terms of size and similar in terms of time, run time and costs. Finally, the output indicates that using the proposed opportunities-response strategies show that the company's profitability in the future can be increased approximately for similar projects. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=opportunities%20management" title="opportunities management">opportunities management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk-response%20strategy" title=" risk-response strategy"> risk-response strategy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=opportunity-response%20strategy" title=" opportunity-response strategy"> opportunity-response strategy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=productivity" title=" productivity"> productivity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk%20management" title=" risk management"> risk management</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88968/productivity-of-construction-companies-using-the-management-of-threats-and-opportunities-in-construction-projects-of-iran" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88968.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">228</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21949</span> Dynamic Ambulance Deployment to Reduce Ambulance Response Times Using Geographic Information Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Masoud%20Swalehe">Masoud Swalehe</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Semra%20G%C3%BCnay"> Semra Günay</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Developed countries are losing many lives to non-communicable diseases as compared to their developing counterparts. The effects of these diseases are mostly sudden and manifest at a very short time prior to death or a dangerous attack and this has consolidated the significance of emergency medical system (EMS) as one of the vital areas of healthcare service delivery. The primary objective of this research is to reduce ambulance response times (RT) of Eskişehir province EMS since a number of studies have established a relationship between ambulance response times and survival chances of patients especially out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) victims. It has been found out that patients who receive out of hospital medical attention in few (4) minutes after cardiac arrest because of low ambulance response times stand higher chances of survival than their counterparts who take longer times (more than 12 minutes) to receive out of hospital medical care because of higher ambulance response times. The study will make use of geographic information systems (GIS) technology to dynamically reallocate ambulance resources according to demand and time so as to reduce ambulance response times. Geospatial-time distribution of ambulance calls (demand) will be used as a basis for optimal ambulance deployment using system status management (SSM) strategy to achieve much demand coverage with the same number of ambulance resources to cause response time reduction. Drive-time polygons will be used to come up with time specific facility coverage areas and suggesting additional facility candidate sites where ambulance resources can be moved to serve higher demands making use of network analysis techniques. Emergency Ambulance calls’ data from 1st January 2014 to 31st December 2014 obtained from Eskişehir province health directorate will be used in this study. This study will focus on the reduction of ambulance response times which is a key Emergency Medical Services performance indicator. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emergency%20medical%20services" title="emergency medical services">emergency medical services</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=system%20status%20management" title=" system status management"> system status management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ambulance%20response%20times" title=" ambulance response times"> ambulance response times</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geographic%20information%20system" title=" geographic information system"> geographic information system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geospatial-time%20distribution" title=" geospatial-time distribution"> geospatial-time distribution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=out%20of%20hospital%20cardiac%20arrest" title=" out of hospital cardiac arrest"> out of hospital cardiac arrest</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46105/dynamic-ambulance-deployment-to-reduce-ambulance-response-times-using-geographic-information-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46105.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">300</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21948</span> Measuring the Effectiveness of Response Inhibition regarding to Motor Complexity: Evidence from the Stroop Effect</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Germ%C3%A1n%20G%C3%A1lvez-Garc%C3%ADa">Germán Gálvez-García</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marta%20Lavin"> Marta Lavin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Javiera%20Pe%C3%B1a"> Javiera Peña</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Javier%20Albayay"> Javier Albayay</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Claudio%20Bascour"> Claudio Bascour</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jesus%20Fernandez-Gomez"> Jesus Fernandez-Gomez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alicia%20P%C3%A9rez-G%C3%A1lvez"> Alicia Pérez-Gálvez</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We studied the effectiveness of response inhibition in movements with different degrees of motor complexity when they were executed in isolation and alternately. Sixteen participants performed the Stroop task which was used as a measure of response inhibition. Participants responded by lifting the index finger and reaching the screen with the same finger. Both actions were performed separately and alternately in different experimental blocks. Repeated measures ANOVAs were used to compare reaction time, movement time, kinematic errors and Movement errors across conditions (experimental block, movement, and congruency). Delta plots were constructed to perform distributional analyses of response inhibition and accuracy rate. The effectiveness of response inhibition did not show difference when the movements were performed in separated blocks. Nevertheless, it showed differences when they were performed alternately in the same experimental block, being more effective for the lifting action. This could be due to a competition of the available resources during a more complex scenario which also demands to adopt some strategy to avoid errors. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=response%20inhibition" title="response inhibition">response inhibition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=motor%20complexity" title=" motor complexity"> motor complexity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Stroop%20task" title=" Stroop task"> Stroop task</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=delta%20plots" title=" delta plots"> delta plots</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78372/measuring-the-effectiveness-of-response-inhibition-regarding-to-motor-complexity-evidence-from-the-stroop-effect" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78372.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">394</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21947</span> Global Healthcare Village Based on Mobile Cloud Computing</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laleh%20Boroumand">Laleh Boroumand</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Shiraz"> Muhammad Shiraz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdullah%20Gani"> Abdullah Gani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rashid%20Hafeez%20Khokhar"> Rashid Hafeez Khokhar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Cloud computing being the use of hardware and software that are delivered as a service over a network has its application in the area of health care. Due to the emergency cases reported in most of the medical centers, prompt for an efficient scheme to make health data available with less response time. To this end, we propose a mobile global healthcare village (MGHV) model that combines the components of three deployment model which include country, continent and global health cloud to help in solving the problem mentioned above. In the creation of continent model, two (2) data centers are created of which one is local and the other is global. The local replay the request of residence within the continent, whereas the global replay the requirements of others. With the methods adopted, there is an assurance of the availability of relevant medical data to patients, specialists, and emergency staffs regardless of locations and time. From our intensive experiment using the simulation approach, it was observed that, broker policy scheme with respect to optimized response time, yields a very good performance in terms of reduction in response time. Though, our results are comparable to others when there is an increase in the number of virtual machines (80-640 virtual machines). The proportionality in increase of response time is within 9%. The results gotten from our simulation experiments shows that utilizing MGHV leads to the reduction of health care expenditures and helps in solving the problems of unqualified medical staffs faced by both developed and developing countries. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cloud%20computing%20%28MCC%29" title="cloud computing (MCC)">cloud computing (MCC)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=e-healthcare" title=" e-healthcare"> e-healthcare</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=availability" title=" availability"> availability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=response%20time" title=" response time"> response time</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=service%20broker%20policy" title=" service broker policy"> service broker policy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15729/global-healthcare-village-based-on-mobile-cloud-computing" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15729.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">377</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21946</span> Study on Seismic Response Feature of Multi-Span Bridges Crossing Fault</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yingxin%20Hui">Yingxin Hui</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Understanding seismic response feature of the bridges crossing fault is the basis of the seismic fortification. Traditionally demand response programs involve large industrial consumers but with technological advancement, demand response is being implemented for small residential and commercial consumers also. In this paper, demand response program aims to reduce the peak demand as well as overall energy consumption of the residential customers. Air conditioners are the major reason of peak load in residential sector in summer, so a dynamic model of air conditioning load with thermostat action has been considered for applying demand response programs. A programmable communicating thermostat (PCT) is a device that uses real time pricing (RTP) signals to control the thermostat setting. A new model incorporating PCT in air conditioning load has been proposed in this paper. Results show that introduction of PCT in air conditioner is useful in reducing the electricity payments of customers as well as reducing the peak demand. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=demand%20response" title="demand response">demand response</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=home%20energy%20management" title=" home energy management"> home energy management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=programmable%20communicating%20thermostat" title=" programmable communicating thermostat"> programmable communicating thermostat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermostatically%20controlled%20appliances" title=" thermostatically controlled appliances"> thermostatically controlled appliances</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/1662/demand-response-from-residential-air-conditioning-load-using-a-programmable-communication-thermostat" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/1662.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">607</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21944</span> Quality Standards for Emergency Response: A Methodological Framework</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jennifer%20E.%20Lynette">Jennifer E. This paper describes the techniques used to develop the initial framework and its potential application to professions under the broader field of emergency management. The example described in detail in this paper applies the framework specifically to fire response activities by firefighters. Within the quality standards framework, the fire response process is chronologically mapped. Individual variables within the sequence of events are identified. Through in-person data collection, questionnaires, interviews, and the expansion of the incident reporting system, this study identifies and categorizes previously unrecorded variables involved in the response phase of a fire. Following a data analysis of each variable using a quantitative or qualitative assessment, the variables are ranked pertaining to the magnitude of their impact to the event outcome. Among others, key indicators of quality performance in the analysis involve decision communication, resource utilization, response techniques, and response time. Through the application of this framework and subsequent utilization of quality standards indicators, there is potential to increase efficiency in the response phase of an emergency event; thereby saving additional lives, property, and resources. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emergency%20management" title="emergency management">emergency management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fire" title=" fire"> fire</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quality%20standards" title=" quality standards"> quality standards</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=response" title=" response"> response</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/47475/quality-standards-for-emergency-response-a-methodological-framework" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/47475.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">318</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21943</span> Time Effective Structural Frequency Response Testing with Oblique Impact</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khoo%20Shin%20Yee">Khoo Shin Yee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lian%20Yee%20Cheng"> Lian Yee Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ong%20Zhi%20Chao"> Ong Zhi Chao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zubaidah%20Ismail"> Zubaidah Ismail</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siamak%20Noroozi"> Siamak Noroozi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Structural frequency response testing is accurate in identifying the dynamic characteristic of a machinery structure. In practical perspective, conventional structural frequency response testing such as experimental modal analysis with impulse technique (also known as “impulse testing”) has limitation especially on its long acquisition time. The high acquisition time is mainly due to the redundancy procedure where the engineer has to repeatedly perform the test in 3 directions, namely the axial-, horizontal- and vertical-axis, in order to comprehensively define the dynamic behavior of a 3D structure. This is unfavorable to numerous industries where the downtime cost is high. This study proposes to reduce the testing time by using oblique impact. Theoretically, a single oblique impact can induce significant vibration responses and vibration modes in all the 3 directions. Hence, the acquisition time with the implementation of the oblique impulse technique can be reduced by a factor of three (i.e. for a 3D dynamic system). This study initiates an experimental investigation of impulse testing with oblique excitation. A motor-driven test rig has been used for the testing purpose. Its dynamic characteristic has been identified using the impulse testing with the conventional normal impact and the proposed oblique impact respectively. The results show that the proposed oblique impulse testing is able to obtain all the desired natural frequencies in all 3 directions and thus providing a feasible solution for a fast and time effective way of conducting the impulse testing. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=frequency%20response%20function" title="frequency response function">frequency response function</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impact%20testing" title=" impact testing"> impact testing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modal%20analysis" title=" modal analysis"> modal analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oblique%20angle" title=" oblique angle"> oblique angle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oblique%20impact" title=" oblique impact"> oblique impact</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90683/time-effective-structural-frequency-response-testing-with-oblique-impact" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90683.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">501</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21942</span> A Fluorescent Polymeric Boron Sensor</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Soner%20Cubuk">Soner Cubuk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mirgul%20Kosif"> Mirgul Kosif</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Vezir%20Kahraman"> M. Suitable methods for the determination of boron have been proposed, including acid - base titrimetric, inductively coupled plasma emission spectroscopy flame atomic absorption and spectrophotometric. However, the above methods have some disadvantages such as long analysis times, requirement of corrosive media such as concentrated sulphuric acid and multi-step sample preparation requirements and time-consuming procedures. In this study, a selective and reusable fluorescent sensor for boron based on glycosyloxyethyl methacrylate was prepared by photopolymerization. The response characteristics such as response time, pH, linear range, limit of detection were systematically investigated. The excitation/emission maxima of the membrane were at 378/423 nm, respectively. The approximate response time was measured as 50 sec. In addition, sensor had a very low limit of detection which was 0.3 ppb. The sensor was successfully used for the determination of boron in water samples with satisfactory results. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=boron" title="boron">boron</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fluorescence" title=" fluorescence"> fluorescence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photopolymerization" title=" photopolymerization"> photopolymerization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polymeric%20sensor" title=" polymeric sensor"> polymeric sensor</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41973/a-fluorescent-polymeric-boron-sensor" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41973.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">283</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21941</span> Dynamic Soil Structure Interaction in Buildings</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shreya%20Thusoo">Shreya Thusoo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Karan%20Modi"> Karan Modi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ankit%20Kumar%20Jha"> Ankit Kumar Jha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rajesh%20Kumar"> Rajesh Kumar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Since the evolution of computational tools and simulation software, there has been considerable increase in research on Soil Structure Interaction (SSI) to decrease the computational time and increase accuracy in the results. Many organizations consider traditional ways of trade non-economical and therefore they do trade only through electronic markets. There are different categorizations of electronic markets functions. In one classification, functions of electronic markets are categorized into classes as information, transactions, and value added. In the present paper, effects of the three classes on the two major elements of the supply chain management are measured. The two elements are decrease in the product unit cost and reduction in response time to the customer. The output or response chosen is material removal rate (MRR) which is to be maximized. To reduce the number of runs face centered central composite design (FCCCD) was used. ANOVA was used to determine the significance of parameter and interactions. The suitability of model is tested using Anderson darling (AD) plot. It has been suggested that irrelevant positive emotional information (e.g., happy faces) and negative emotional information (e.g., angry faces) interact with attention differently. In the present study, we used arousal-matched irrelevant happy and angry faces. These faces were used as stop-signals in the stop-signal paradigm. There were two kinds of trials: go-trials and stop-trials. Participants were required to discriminate between the letter X or O by pressing the corresponding keys on go-trials. However, a stop signal was occasionally presented on stop trials, where participants were required to withhold their motor response. A significant main effect of emotion on response inhibition was observed. It indicated that the valence of a stop signal modulates inhibitory control. We found that stop-signal reaction time was faster in response to irrelevant angry faces than happy faces, indicating that irrelevant angry faces facilitate the response inhibition process compared to happy faces. These results shed light on the interaction of emotion with cognitive control functions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=attention" title="attention">attention</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emotion" title=" emotion"> emotion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=response%20inhibition" title=" response inhibition"> response inhibition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inhibitory%20control" title=" inhibitory control"> inhibitory control</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/150097/irrelevant-angry-faces-compared-to-happy-faces-facilitate-the-response-inhibition" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/150097.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">105</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21936</span> Study of Biofuel Produced by Babassu Oil Fatty Acids Esterification</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=F.%20A.%20F.%20da%20Ponte">F. The validity of the proposed method is discussed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DT" title="DT">DT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pulsed%20eddy%20current" title=" pulsed eddy current"> pulsed eddy current</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=continuous%20wavelet%20transform" title=" continuous wavelet transform"> continuous wavelet transform</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mexican%20hat%20wavelet%20mother" title=" Mexican hat wavelet mother"> Mexican hat wavelet mother</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=defect%20detection" title=" defect detection"> defect detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power%20spectral%20density." title=" power spectral density."> power spectral density.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88425/enhancement-of-pulsed-eddy-current-response-based-on-power-spectral-density-after-continuous-wavelet-transform-decomposition" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88425.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">237</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21933</span> Expanding Trading Strategies By Studying Sentiment Correlation With Data Mining Techniques</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ved%20Kulkarni">Ved Kulkarni</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Karthik%20Kini"> Karthik Kini</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This experiment aims to understand how the media affects the power markets in the mainland United States and study the duration of reaction time between news updates and actual price movements. it have taken into account electric utility companies trading in the NYSE and excluded companies that are more politically involved and move with higher sensitivity to Politics. The scrapper checks for any news related to keywords, which are predefined and stored for each specific company. Based on this, the classifier will allocate the effect into five categories: positive, negative, highly optimistic, highly negative, or neutral. The effect on the respective price movement will be studied to understand the response time. Based on the response time observed, neural networks would be trained to understand and react to changing market conditions, achieving the best strategy in every market. The stock trader would be day trading in the first phase and making option strategy predictions based on the black holes model. The expected result is to create an AI-based system that adjusts trading strategies within the market response time to each price movement. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
