Most of the tributary streams of the Ping can be considered as ungauged catchments. There are 10- pumping station installation at both river banks of the Ping in Tak Province. Recently, most of them could not fully operate due to the water amount in the river below the level that would be pumping, even though included water from the natural river and released flow from the Bhumibol Dam. The aim of this research was to increase the performance of those pumping stations using weir projects in the Ping. Therefore, the river analysis system model (HEC-RAS) was applied to study the hydraulic behavior of water surface profiles in the Ping River with both cases of existing conditions and proposed weirs during the violent flood in 2011 and severe drought in 2013. Moreover, the hydrologic modeling system (HMS) was applied to simulate lateral streamflow hydrograph from ungauged catchments of the Ping. The results of HEC-RAS model calibration with existing conditions in 2011 showed best trial roughness coefficient for the main channel of 0.026. The simulated water surface levels fitted to observation data with R2 of 0.8175. The model was applied to 3 proposed cascade weirs with 2.35 m in height and found surcharge water level only 0.27 m higher than the existing condition in 2011. Moreover, those weirs could maintain river water levels and increase of those pumping performances during less river flow in 2013. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HEC-RAS" title="HEC-RAS">HEC-RAS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HMS" title=" HMS"> HMS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pumping%20stations" title=" pumping stations"> pumping stations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cascade%20weirs" title=" cascade weirs "> cascade weirs </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12884/river-analysis-system-model-for-proposed-weirs-at-downstream-of-large-dam-thailand" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12884.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">390</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">515</span> The Reintegration of the Past as Self-Realisation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haotian%20Wu">Haotian Wu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This article examines the figure Zhao Tao in Jia Zhangke’s films in light of Carl Jung’s psychoanalytical theory. Zhao is a recurring aesthetic trope in Jia’s films, and the characters she plays often have an intimate relationship with the past. Nevertheless, this relationship has not been systematically investigated, especially its symbolism of the typical relationship between the past and the self in post-social China. To fill this research gap, the article will explore how Zhao’s characters discover, preserve, and adapt the past in I Wish I knew (2010), Mountains May Depart (2015), and Ash Is Purest White (2018). Through a Jungian lens, these three levels of engagement with the past will be demonstrated as corresponding with Jung’s psychoanalytical theory of self-realisation, which entails the confrontation with the shadow, the embodiment of the archetype, and individuation. Thus, by articulating a film-philosophy dialogue between Jia and Jung, this article will develop a new philosophy of self-realisation based on the symbolism of Zhao. Through the reintegration of the past, the individuals can overcome the fragmentation of temporality and selfhood in the postmodern world and achieve self-realisation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jia%20Zhangke" title="Jia Zhangke">Jia Zhangke</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jung" title=" Jung"> Jung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=psychoanalysis" title=" psychoanalysis"> psychoanalysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-realisation" title=" self-realisation"> self-realisation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138994/the-reintegration-of-the-past-as-self-realisation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138994.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">595</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">514</span> Projection of Climate Change over the Upper Ping River Basin Using Regional Climate Model</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chakrit%20Chotamonsak">Chakrit Chotamonsak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eric%20P.%20Salath%C3%A9%20Jr"> Eric P. The analysis found that monthly changes in daily temperature and precipitation over the basin for the 2045-2064 compared to the 1990-2009 are revealed over the basin all months, with the largest warmer in December and the smallest warmer in February. The future simulated precipitation is smaller than that of the baseline value in May, July and August, while increasing of precipitation is revealed during pre-monsoon (April) and late monsoon (September and October). This means that the rainy season likely becomes longer and less intensified during the rainy season. During the cool-dry season and hot-dry season, precipitation is substantial increasing over the basin. For the annual cycle of changes in daily temperature and precipitation over the upper Ping River basin, the largest warmer in the mean temperature over the basin is 1.93 °C in December and the smallest is 0.77 °C in February. Increase in nighttime temperature (minimum temperature) is larger than that of daytime temperature (maximum temperature) during the dry season, especially in wintertime (November to February), resulted in decreasing the diurnal temperature range. The annual and seasonal changes in daily temperature and precipitation averaged over the basin. The annual mean rising are 1.43, 1.54 and 1.30 °C for mean temperature, maximum temperature and minimum temperature, respectively. The increasing of maximum temperature is larger than that of minimum temperature in all months during the dry season (November to April). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=climate%20change" title="climate change">climate change</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=regional%20climate%20model" title=" regional climate model"> regional climate model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=upper%20Ping%20River%20basin" title=" upper Ping River basin"> upper Ping River basin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=WRF" title=" WRF"> WRF</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35887/projection-of-climate-change-over-the-upper-ping-river-basin-using-regional-climate-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35887.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">383</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">513</span> The Study on Life of Valves Evaluation Based on Tests Data</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Binjuan%20Xu">Binjuan Xu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Qian%20Zhao"> Qian Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ping%20Jiang"> Ping Jiang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bo%20Guo"> Bo Guo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhijun%20Cheng"> Zhijun Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiaoyue%20Wu"> Xiaoyue Wu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Astronautical valves are key units in engine systems of astronautical products; their reliability will influence results of rocket or missile launching, even lead to damage to staff and devices on the ground. Besides failure in engine system may influence the hitting accuracy and flight shot of missiles. Therefore high reliability is quite essential to astronautical products. There are quite a few literature doing research based on few failure test data to estimate valves’ reliability, thus this paper proposed a new method to estimate valves’ reliability, according to the corresponding tests of different failure modes, this paper takes advantage of tests data which acquired from temperature, vibration, and action tests to estimate reliability in every failure modes, then this paper has regarded these three kinds of tests as three stages in products’ process to integrate these results to acquire valves’ reliability. Through the comparison of results achieving from tests data and simulated data, the results have illustrated how to obtain valves’ reliability based on the few failure data with failure modes and prove that the results are effective and rational. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=censored%20data" title="censored data">censored data</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=temperature%20tests" title=" temperature tests"> temperature tests</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=valves" title=" valves"> valves</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vibration%20tests" title=" vibration tests"> vibration tests</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84900/the-study-on-life-of-valves-evaluation-based-on-tests-data" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84900.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">345</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">512</span> Thermal Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation of Large-Scale Cryopump</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yue%20Shuai%20Zhao">Yue Shuai Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rong%20Ping%20Shao"> Rong Ping Shao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wei%20Sun"> Wei Sun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guo%20Hua%20Ren"> Guo Hua Ren</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yong%20Wang"> Yong Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Li%20Chen%20Sun"> Li Chen Sun</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A large-scale cryopump (DN1250) used in large vacuum leak detecting system was designed and its performance experimentally investigated by Beijing Institute of Spacecraft Environment Engineering. The cryopump was cooled by four closed cycle helium refrigerators (two dual stage refrigerators and two single stage refrigerators). Detailed numerical analysis of the heat transfer in the first stage array and the second stage array were performed by using computational fluid dynamic method (CFD). Several design parameters were considered to find the effect on the temperature distribution and the cooldown time. The variation of thermal conductivity and heat capacity with temperature was taken into account. The thermal analysis method based on numerical techniques was introduced in this study, the heat transfer in the first stage array and the second stage cryopanel was carefully analyzed to determine important considerations in the thermal design of the cryopump. A performance test system according to the RNEUROP standards was built to test main performance of the cryopump. The experimental results showed that the structure of first stage array which was optimized by the method could meet the requirement of the cryopump well. The temperature of the cryopanel was down to 10K within 300 min, and the result of the experiment was accordant with theoretical analysis' conclusion. The test also showed that the pumping speed for N2 of the pump was up to 57,000 L/s, and the crossover was over than 300,000 Pa•L. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cryopump" title="cryopump">cryopump</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=temperature%20distribution" title=" temperature distribution"> temperature distribution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20analysis" title=" thermal analysis"> thermal analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CFD%20Simulation" title=" CFD Simulation"> CFD Simulation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62288/thermal-analysis-and-computational-fluid-dynamics-simulation-of-large-scale-cryopump" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62288.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">304</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">511</span> Uniform Porous Multilayer-Junction Thin Film for Enhanced Gas-Sensing Performance</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ping-Ping%20Zhang">Ping-Ping Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hui-Zhang"> Hui-Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xu-Hui%20Sun"> Xu-Hui Sun</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Highly-uniform In2O3/CuO bilayer and multilayer porous thin films were successfully fabricated using self-assembled soft template and simple sputtering deposition technique. The sensor based on the In2O3/CuO bilayer porous thin film shows obviously improved sensing performance to ethanol at the lower working temperature, compared to single layer counterpart sensors. The response of In2O3/CuO bilayer sensors exhibits nearly 3 and 5 times higher than those of the single layer In2O3 and CuO porous film sensors over the same ethanol concentration, respectively. The sensing mechanism based on p-n hetero-junction, which contributed to the enhanced sensing performance was also experimentally confirmed by a control experiment which the SiO2 insulation layer was inserted between the In2O3 and CuO layers to break the p-n junction. In addition, the sensing performance can be further enhanced by increasing the number of In2O3/CuO junction layers. One of the main difficulties in controlling the temporal shape is the foot part control accuracy of high contrast pulse. Based on the analysis of pulse perturbation in the process of amplification and frequency conversion in high power lasers, an approach of beam spatio-temporal multiplexing is proposed to improve the control precision of high contrast pulse. In the approach, the foot and peak part of high contrast pulse are controlled independently, which propagate separately in the near field, and combine together in the far field to form the required pulse shape. For high contrast pulse, the beam area ratio of the two parts is optimized, and then beam fluence and intensity of the foot part are increased, which brings great convenience to the control of pulse. Meanwhile, the near field distribution of the two parts is also carefully designed to make sure their F-numbers are the same, which is another important parameter for laser-target interaction. The integrated calculation results show that for a pulse with a contrast of up to 500, the deviation of foot part can be improved from 20% to 5% by using beam spatio-temporal multiplexing approach with beam area ratio of 1/20, which is almost the same as that of peak part. The research results are expected to bring a breakthrough in power balance of high power laser facility. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inertial%20confinement%20fusion" title="inertial confinement fusion">inertial confinement fusion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laser%20pulse%20control" title=" laser pulse control"> laser pulse control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=beam%20spatio-temporal%20multiplexing" title=" beam spatio-temporal multiplexing"> beam spatio-temporal multiplexing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power%20balance" title=" power balance"> power balance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/103616/beam-spatio-temporal-multiplexing-approach-for-improving-control-accuracy-of-high-contrast-pulse" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/103616.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">147</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">508</span> Technical Realization of Key Aesthetic Principles in Guzheng Performance</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Qiongzi%20Zheng">Qiongzi Zheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lewis%20Cornwell"> Lewis Cornwell</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Neal%20Peres%20Da%20Costa"> Neal Peres Da Costa</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Drawn on Confucian and Taoist philosophy and long-established tradition of aesthetic ideals, the Art of the Chinese Zither (Xishan Qinkuang), a classic work by Chinese music scholar Xu Shangyin in 1643, distilled twenty-four practicing principles for the Chinese zither. This work has influenced the practice of guzheng to the present day. Whilst the principles were described in detail, how they can actually be achieved on a technical level remains to be explored. This study focuses on three key practicing principles: yuan (roundness), liu (fluidness), and su (swiftness), and examines how the playing techniques developed by Master Zhao Manqin contribute to the implementation of the principles. The study concludes that knowledge of the technicality of fingering positioning before and after plucking motion is critical to the realization of these principles. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chinese%20music%20aesthetics" title="Chinese music aesthetics">Chinese music aesthetics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=practicing%20principles%20of%20the%20Chinese%20zither" title=" practicing principles of the Chinese zither"> practicing principles of the Chinese zither</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=guzheng%20playing%20techniques" title=" guzheng playing techniques"> guzheng playing techniques</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhao%20Manqin%E2%80%99s%20fingering%20techniques" title=" Zhao Manqin’s fingering techniques"> Zhao Manqin’s fingering techniques</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xishan%20Qinkuang" title=" Xishan Qinkuang"> Xishan Qinkuang</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164771/technical-realization-of-key-aesthetic-principles-in-guzheng-performance" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164771.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">185</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">507</span> Statistical Analysis of Cables in Long-Span Cable-Stayed Bridges</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ceshi%20Sun">Ceshi Sun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yueyu%20Zhao"> Yueyu Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yaobing%20Zhao"> Yaobing Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhiqiang%20Wang"> Zhiqiang Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jian%20Peng"> Jian Peng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pengxin%20Guo"> Pengxin Guo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With the rapid development of transportation, there are more than 100 cable-stayed bridges with main span larger than 300 m in China. A new relationship between the first order frequency and the length of cable was found by conducting the curve fitting. Then, based on this relationship other interesting relationships were deduced. Several probability density functions (PDFs) were used to investigate the distributions of the parameters of first order frequency, stress level and the Irvine parameter. It was found that these parameters obey the Lognormal distribution, the Weibull distribution and the generalized Pareto distribution, respectively. Scatter diagrams of the three parameters were plotted and their 95% confidence intervals were also investigated. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cable" title="cable">cable</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cable-stayed%20bridge" title=" cable-stayed bridge"> cable-stayed bridge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=long-span" title=" long-span"> long-span</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=statistical%20analysis" title=" statistical analysis"> statistical analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12878/statistical-analysis-of-cables-in-long-span-cable-stayed-bridges" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12878.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">633</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">506</span> Design of Reconfigurable Supernumerary Robotic Limb Based on Differential Actuated Joints</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Qinghua%20Zhang">Qinghua Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yanhe%20Zhu"> Yanhe Zhu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiang%20Zhao"> Xiang Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yeqin%20Yang"> Yeqin Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hongwei%20Jing"> Hongwei Jing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guoan%20Zhang"> Guoan Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jie%20Zhao"> Jie Zhao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper presents a wearable reconfigurable supernumerary robotic limb with differential actuated joints, which is lightweight, compact and comfortable for the wearers. This paper proposes a new methodology to provide sharing of construction knowledge by using the Building Information Modeling (BIM) approach. The main characteristics of BIM include illustrating 3D CAD-based presentations and keeping information in a digital format, and facilitation of easy updating and transfer of information in the 3D BIM environment. Using the BIM approach, project managers and engineers can gain knowledge related to 3D BIM and obtain feedback provided by job-site engineers for future reference. This study addresses the application of knowledge sharing management in the construction phase of construction projects and proposes a BIM-based Knowledge Sharing Management (BIMKSM) system for project managers and engineers. The BIMKSM system is then applied in a selected case study of a construction project in Taiwan to verify the proposed methodology and demonstrate the effectiveness of sharing knowledge in the BIM environment. The combined results demonstrate that the BIMKSM system can be used as a visual BIM-based knowledge sharing management platform by utilizing the BIM approach and web technology. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=construction%20knowledge%20management" title="construction knowledge management">construction knowledge management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=building%20information%20modeling" title=" building information modeling"> building information modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=project%20management" title=" project management"> project management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=web-based%20information%20system" title=" web-based information system"> web-based information system</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/1607/applications-of-building-information-modeling-bim-in-knowledge-sharing-and-management-in-construction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/1607.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">352</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">504</span> Late Payment Issues Faced by Subcontractors in the Malaysian Construction Industry</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nur%20Emma%20Mustaffa">Nur Emma Mustaffa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hii%20Ping%20Ping"> Hii Ping Ping</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Late payment is a common issue in the construction industry and the subcontractors are not spared from it. This study has been carried out with the objectives to identify the implications of late payment issues toward the subcontractors and the strategies adopted by them to overcome the late payment issues. In terms of the strategies which can be adopted in overcoming the late payment, the subcontractors may suspend or slow down the construction process, making periodic follow up with the client, demand the rights to interest on late payment or the issuance of a promissory note by the client. The focus of the study is primarily on Grade 4 to Grade 7 contractors in Johor Bahru, Malaysia who carried out subcontracting works and registered under Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB). Employing survey as the main research method for data collection, the analysis would therefore mainly be adopting Likert Scale Analysis, Ranking Analysis and Frequency Distribution Analysis. This research showed the main implication of late payment issues towards subcontractors is created financial hardship to them. Besides, the most effective strategy adopted by the subcontractors to overcome the late payment issues is follow-up with client using formal procedure. From the findings, most of the subcontractors had low level of experiences and frequency in the adoption of Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act (CIPAA) 2012 to solve the payment disputes in the construction industry. In a nutshell, it is hoped that these findings will become guidance to the subcontractors to overcome the late payment issues in their future projects. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=subcontractors" title="subcontractors">subcontractors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=implications" title=" implications"> implications</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=strategies" title=" strategies"> strategies</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CIPAA%202012" title=" CIPAA 2012"> CIPAA 2012</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=payment" title=" payment"> payment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98255/late-payment-issues-faced-by-subcontractors-in-the-malaysian-construction-industry" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98255.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">174</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">503</span> MLOps Scaling Machine Learning Lifecycle in an Industrial Setting</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yizhen%20Zhao">Yizhen Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adam%20S.%20Z.%20Belloum"> Adam S. This change comes with challenges, gaps and differences exist between common practices in academic environments and the ones in production environments. Following continuous integration, development and delivery practices in software engineering, similar trends have happened in machine learning (ML) systems, called MLOps. In this paper we propose a framework that helps to streamline and introduce best practices that facilitate the ML lifecycle in an industrial setting. This framework can be used as a template that can be customized to implement various machine learning experiment. The proposed framework is modular and can be recomposed to be adapted to various use cases (e.g. data versioning, remote training on cloud). The framework inherits practices from DevOps and introduces other practices that are unique to the machine learning system (e.g.data versioning). Our MLOps practices automate the entire machine learning lifecycle, bridge the gap between development and operation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cloud%20computing" title="cloud computing">cloud computing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=continuous%20development" title=" continuous development"> continuous development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20versioning" title=" data versioning"> data versioning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DevOps" title=" DevOps"> DevOps</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=industrial%20setting" title=" industrial setting"> industrial setting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MLOps" title=" MLOps"> MLOps</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144096/mlops-scaling-machine-learning-lifecycle-in-an-industrial-setting" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144096.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">265</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">502</span> The Thinking of Dynamic Formulation of Rock Aging Agent Driven by Data</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Longlong%20Zhang">Longlong Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiaohua%20Zhu"> Xiaohua Zhu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ping%20Zhao"> Ping Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu%20Wang"> Yu Wang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The construction of mines, railways, highways, water conservancy projects, etc., have formed a large number of high steep slope wounds in China. Under the premise of slope stability and safety, the minimum cost, green and close to natural wound space repair, has become a new problem. Nowadays, in situ element testing and analysis, monitoring, field quantitative factor classification, and assignment evaluation will produce vast amounts of data. Data processing and analysis will inevitably differentiate the morphology, mineral composition, physicochemical properties between rock wounds, by which to dynamically match the appropriate techniques and materials for restoration. In the present research, based on the grid partition of the slope surface, tested the content of the combined oxide of rock mineral (SiO₂, CaO, MgO, Al₂O₃, Fe₃O₄, etc.), and classified and assigned values to the hardness and breakage of rock texture. The data of essential factors are interpolated and normalized in GIS, which formed the differential zoning map of slope space. According to the physical and chemical properties and spatial morphology of rocks in different zones, organic acids (plant waste fruit, fruit residue, etc.), natural mineral powder (zeolite, apatite, kaolin, etc.), water-retaining agent, and plant gum (melon powder) were mixed in different proportions to form rock aging agents. To spray the aging agent with different formulas on the slopes in different sections can affectively age the fresh rock wound, providing convenience for seed implantation, and reducing the transformation of heavy metals in the rocks. Through many practical engineering practices, a dynamic data platform of rock aging agent formula system is formed, which provides materials for the restoration of different slopes. It will also provide a guideline for the mixed-use of various natural materials to solve the complex, non-uniformity ecological restoration problem. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data-driven" title="data-driven">data-driven</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20state" title=" dynamic state"> dynamic state</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high%20steep%20slope" title=" high steep slope"> high steep slope</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rock%20aging%20agent" title=" rock aging agent"> rock aging agent</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wounds" title=" wounds"> wounds</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/130524/the-thinking-of-dynamic-formulation-of-rock-aging-agent-driven-by-data" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/130524.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">115</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">501</span> Enhance Construction Visual As-Built Schedule Management Using BIM Technology</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shu-Hui%20Jan">Shu-Hui Jan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hui-Ping%20Tserng"> Hui-Ping Tserng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shih-Ping%20Ho"> Shih-Ping Ho </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> <p class="Abstract" style="text-indent:10.2pt">Construction project control attempts to obtain real-time as-built schedule information and to eliminate project delays by effectively enhancing dynamic schedule control and management. As the application of building information modeling (BIM) becomes more common, schedule management integrated with the BIM approach becomes essential to enhance visual construction management implementation for the general contractor during the construction phase. To enhance visualization of the updated as-built schedule for the general contractor, this study presents a novel system called the Construction BIM-assisted Schedule Management (ConBIM-SM) system for general contractors in <st1:country-region w:st="on">Taiwan</st1:country-region>. The primary purpose of this study is to develop a web ConBIM-SM system for the general contractor to enhance visual as-built schedule information sharing and efficiency in tracking construction as-built schedule. Finally, the ConBIM-SM system is applied to a case study of a commerce building project in <st1:country-region w:st="on">Taiwan</st1:country-region> to verify its efficacy and demonstrate its effectiveness during the construction phase. The advantages of the ConBIM-SM system lie in improved project control and management efficiency for general contractors, and in providing BIM-assisted as-built schedule tracking and management, to access the most current as-built schedule information through a web browser. Brick powder was selected as the appropriate waste while its maximum equilibrium adsorption amount of heavy metal under single controlled contamination matrix reached 5.41, 0.81, 0.45, 1.13 and 0.97 mg/g, respectively. Effects of pH and spiking dose of ICDW was also investigated. Equilibrium adsorption amount of organic pesticide varied from 0.02 to 0.97 mg/g, which was negatively correlated to the size distribution and hydrophilism. Existence of organic pesticide on surface of ICDW caused various effects on the heavy metal adsorption, mainly due to combination of metal ions and the floccule formation along with wrapping behaviors by pesticide pollutants. Adsorption of Zn was sharply decreased from 7.1 to 0.15 mg/g compared with clean ICDW and phorate contaminated ICDW, while that of Pb, Cr and Cd experienced an increase- then decrease procedure. On the other hand, runoff of pesticide contaminants was investigated under 25 mm/h simulated rainfall. Results showed that the cumulative runoff amount fitted well with curve obtained from a power function, of which r2=0.95 and 0.91 for 1DAA (1 day between contamination and runoff) and 7DAA, respectively. This study helps provide evaluation of industrial construction and demolition waste contamination into aquatic systems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adsorption%20mechanism" title="adsorption mechanism">adsorption mechanism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=industrial%20construction%20waste" title=" industrial construction waste"> industrial construction waste</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metals" title=" metals"> metals</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pesticide" title=" pesticide"> pesticide</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=runoff" title=" runoff"> runoff</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70934/adsorption-mechanism-of-heavy-metals-and-organic-pesticide-on-industrial-construction-and-demolition-waste-and-its-runoff-behaviors" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70934.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">467</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">499</span> A Study on Legal Regimes Alternatives from the Aspect of Shenzhen Global Ocean Central City Construction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jinsong%20Zhao">Jinsong Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lin%20Zhao"> Lin Zhao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Shenzhen, one of the fastest growing cities in the world, has been building a global ocean central city since 2017, facing many challenges, especially how to innovate new legal regimes to meet the future demands of the development of global shipping. First, the current legal regime of bills of lading as a document of title was established by English law in the 18th century but limited to the period of marine transportation from port of loading to port of discharge (namely, port to port). The e-commerce era is asking for such a function to be extended from port to port to door to door. Secondly, the function of the port has also been upgraded from the traditional loading and unloading of goods to a much wider area, such as being custody of warehousing goods for its mortgage bank, and therefore its legal status is changing, so it is necessary to amend the law of ports and harbours and innovate the rights and responsibilities of the port under its new role as the custody. Thirdly, the development of new marine energy has made more and more offshore floating wind power and floating photovoltaic devices face new legal issues such as legal status, nationality and ownership registration, mortgage, maritime lien, and possessory lien. Fourthly, the jurisdiction of the above issues, as well as conflicts of law and the applicable law, are also questions pending answers. This paper will discuss these issues of private international law, especially the innovation of new legal regimes with an aim to solve the above problems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=maritime%20law" title="maritime law">maritime law</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bills%20of%20lading" title=" bills of lading"> bills of lading</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=e-commerce" title=" e-commerce"> e-commerce</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=port%20law" title=" port law"> port law</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=marine%20clean%20energy" title=" marine clean energy"> marine clean energy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188061/a-study-on-legal-regimes-alternatives-from-the-aspect-of-shenzhen-global-ocean-central-city-construction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188061.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">40</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">498</span> The Application of Collision Damage Analysis in Reconstruction of Sedan-Scooter Accidents</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chun-Liang%20Wu">Chun-Liang Wu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kai-Ping%20Shaw"> Kai-Ping Shaw</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Ping%20Yu"> Cheng-Ping Yu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wu-Chien%20Chien"> Wu-Chien Chien</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hsiao-Ting%20Chen"> Hsiao-Ting Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shao-Huang%20Wu"> Shao-Huang Wu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Objective: This study analyzed three criminal judicial cases. We applied the damage analysis of the two vehicles to verify other evidence, such as dashboard camera records of each accident, reconstruct the scenes, and pursue the truth. Methods: Evidence analysis, the method is to collect evidence and the reason for the results in judicial procedures, then analyze the involved damage evidence to verify other evidence. The collision damage analysis method is to inspect the damage to the vehicles and utilize the principles of tool mark analysis, Newtonian physics, and vehicle structure to understand the relevant factors when the vehicles collide. Results: Case 1: Sedan A turned right at the T junction and collided with Scooter B, which was going straight on the left road. The dashboard camera records showed that the left side of Sedan A’s front bumper collided with the body of Scooter B and rider B. After the analysis of the study, the truth was that the front of the left side of Sedan A impacted the right pedal of Scooter B and the right lower limb of rider B. Case 2: Sedan C collided with Scooter D on the left road at the crossroads. The dashboard camera record showed that the left side of the Sedan C’s front bumper collided with the body of Scooter D and rider D. After the analysis of the study, the truth was that the left side of the Sedan C impacted the left side of the car body and the front wheel of Scooter D and rider D. Case 3: Sedan E collided with Scooter F on the right road at the crossroads. The dashboard camera record showed that the right side of the Sedan E’s front bumper collided with the body of Scooter F and rider F. After the analysis of the study, the truth was that the right side of the front bumper and the right side of the Sedan F impacted the Scooter. Conclusion: The application of collision damage analysis in the reconstruction of a sedan-scooter collision could discover the truth and provide the basis for judicial justice. The cases and methods could be the reference for the road safety policy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=evidence%20analysis" title="evidence analysis">evidence analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=collision%20damage%20analysis" title=" collision damage analysis"> collision damage analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=accident%20reconstruction" title=" accident reconstruction"> accident reconstruction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sedan-scooter%20collision" title=" sedan-scooter collision"> sedan-scooter collision</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dashboard%20camera%20records" title=" dashboard camera records"> dashboard camera records</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161008/the-application-of-collision-damage-analysis-in-reconstruction-of-sedan-scooter-accidents" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161008.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">78</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">497</span> Two-Photon Fluorescence in N-Doped Graphene Quantum Dots</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chi%20Man%20Luk">Chi Man Luk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ming%20Kiu%20Tsang"> Ming Kiu Tsang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chi%20Fan%20Chan"> Chi Fan Chan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shu%20Ping%20Lau">Shu Ping Lau</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (N-GQDs) were fabricated by microwave-assisted hydrothermal technique. A qualitative analysis was conducted to explore the factors influencing online hedonic shopping motivations. The results of the study indicate that traditional hedonic values, consisting of social, role, self-gratification, learning trends, pleasure of bargaining, stimulation, diversion, status, and adventure, and dimensions of flow theory, consisting of control, curiosity, enjoyment, and telepresence, exist in the online shopping environment. Two hedonic motivations unique to Internet shopping, privacy and online shopping achievement, were found. It appears that the most important hedonic value to online shoppers is having the choice to interact or not interact with others while shopping on the Internet. The contributions of this study include the development of a more personalized apparel design mechanism and the provision of some empirical knowledge for the development of other products in the aspect of aesthetics. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aesthetics" title="aesthetics">aesthetics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crease%20line" title=" crease line"> crease line</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cropped%20straight%20leg%20pants" title=" cropped straight leg pants"> cropped straight leg pants</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=knee%20width" title=" knee width"> knee width</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/110584/towards-the-prediction-of-aesthetic-requirements-for-womens-apparel-product" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/110584.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">186</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">488</span> Factors Affecting Aluminum Dissolve from Acidified Water Purification Sludge</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wen%20Po%20Cheng">Wen Po Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chi%20Hua%20Fu"> Chi Hua Fu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ping%20Hung%20Chen"> Ping Hung Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ruey%20Fang%20Yu"> Ruey Fang Yu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Recovering resources from water purification sludge (WPS) have been gradually stipulated in environmental protection laws and regulations in many nations. Hence, reusing the WPS is becoming an important topic, and recovering alum from WPS is one of the many practical alternatives. Most previous research efforts have been conducted on studying the amphoteric characteristic of aluminum hydroxide for investigating the optimum pH range to dissolve the Al(III) species from WPS, but it has been lack of reaction kinetics or mechanisms related discussion. Therefore, in this investigation, water purification sludge (WPS) solution was broken by ultrasound to make particle size of reactants smaller, specific surface area larger. According to the reaction kinetics, these phenomena let the dissolved aluminum salt quantity increased and the reaction rate go faster. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aluminum" title="aluminum">aluminum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acidification" title=" acidification"> acidification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sludge" title=" sludge"> sludge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=recovery" title=" recovery"> recovery</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/7385/factors-affecting-aluminum-dissolve-from-acidified-water-purification-sludge" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/7385.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">629</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">487</span> Investigation of the Turbulent Cavitating Flows from the Viewpoint of the Lift Coefficient</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ping-Ben%20Liu">Ping-Ben Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chien-Chou%20Tseng"> Chien-Chou Tseng</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between the lift coefficient and dynamic behaviors of cavitating flow around a two-dimensional Clark Y hydrofoil at 8° angle of attack, cavitation number of 0.8, and Reynolds number of 7.10⁵. The flow field is investigated numerically by using a vapor transfer equation and a modified turbulence model which applies the filter and local density correction. The results including time-averaged lift/drag coefficient and shedding frequency agree well with experimental observations, which confirmed the reliability of this simulation. According to the variation of lift coefficient, the cycle which consists of growth and shedding of cavitation can be divided into three stages, and the lift coefficient at each stage behaves similarly due to the formation and shedding of the cavity around the trailing edge. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
