be cleansed<MG2511>.” And immediately<MG2112> his leprosy<MG3014> was cleansed<MG2511>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>And Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to him, “See<MG3708> that you tell<MG3004> no<MG3367> one<MG3367>; but go<MG5217>, show<MG1166> yourself<MG4572> to the priest<MG2409> and present<MG4374> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>offering<MG1435> that Moses<MG3475> commanded<MG4367>, as a testimony<MG3142> to them.” <p class="hdg">The Centurion’s Faith</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>And when <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>Jesus entered<MG1525> Capernaum<MG2746b>, a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>centurion<MG1543> came<MG4334> to Him, begging<MG3870> Him, <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>and saying<MG3004>, “<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>Lord<MG2962>, my <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>servant<MG3816> is lying<MG906> paralyzed<MG3885> at home<MG3614>, terribly<MG1171> tormented<MG928>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Jesus *said<MG3004> to him, “I will come<MG2064> and heal<MG2323> him.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>But the centurion<MG1543> replied<MG611, 5346>, “<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>Lord<MG2962>, I am<MG1510> not worthy<MG2425> for You to come<MG1525> under<MG5259> my roof<MG4721>, but just<MG3441> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>say<MG3004> the word<MG3056>, and my <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>servant<MG3816> will be healed<MG2390>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>For I also<MG2532> am<MG1510> a man<MG444> under<MG5259> authority<MG1849>, with soldiers<MG4757> under<MG5259> me; and I say<MG3004> to this<MG3778> one<MG3778>, ‘Go<MG4198>!’ and he goes<MG4198>, and to another<MG243>, ‘Come<MG2064>!’ and he comes<MG2064>, and to my slave<MG1401>, ‘Do<MG4160> this<MG3778>!’ and he does<MG4160> <i>it.</i>” <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Now<MG1161> when Jesus<MG2424> heard<MG191> <i>this,</i> He was<MG2296> amazed<MG2296> and said<MG3004> to those<MG3588> who were following<MG190>, “Truly<MG281> I say<MG3004> to you, I have not found<MG2147> such<MG5118> great<MG5118> faith<MG4102> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>with anyone<MG3762> in Israel<MG2474>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And I say<MG3004> to you that many<MG4183> will come<MG2240> from east<MG395> and west<MG1424>, and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>recline<MG347> <i>at the table</i> with Abraham<MG11>, Isaac<MG2464>, and Jacob<MG2384> in the kingdom<MG932> of heaven<MG3772>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>but the sons<MG5207> of the kingdom<MG932> will be thrown<MG1544b> out<MG1544b> into the outer<MG1857> darkness<MG4655>; in<MG1563> that<MG1563> place<MG1563> there will be weeping<MG2805> and gnashing<MG1030> of teeth<MG3599>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And Jesus<MG2424> said<MG3004> to the centurion<MG1543>, “Go<MG5217>; <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>it shall be done<MG1096> for you as you have believed<MG4100>.” And the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>servant<MG3816> was healed<MG2390> at that <i>very</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>moment<MG5610>. <p class="hdg">Peter’s Mother-in-law and Many Others Healed</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>When Jesus<MG2424> came<MG2064> into Peter’s<MG4074> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>home<MG3614>, He saw<MG3708> his mother-in-law<MG3994> lying<MG906> sick<MG906> in bed with a fever<MG4445>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And He touched<MG681> her hand<MG5495>, and the fever<MG4446> left<MG863> her; and she got<MG1453> up<MG1453> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>waited<MG1247> on<MG1247> Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Now<MG1161> when evening<MG3798> came<MG1096>, they brought<MG4374> to Him many<MG4183> who were demon-possessed<MG1139>; and He cast<MG1544b> out<MG1544b> the spirits<MG4151> with a word<MG3056>, and healed<MG2323> all<MG3956> who were ill<MG2192, 2560>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span><i>This happened</i> so<MG3704> that<MG3704> what<MG3588> was spoken<MG3004> through<MG1223> Isaiah<MG2268> the prophet<MG4396> would be fulfilled<MG4137>: “HE HIMSELF<MG846> TOOK<MG2983> OUR ILLNESSES<MG769> AND <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>CARRIED<MG941> AWAY<MG941> OUR DISEASES<MG3554>.” <p class="hdg">Discipleship Tested</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>Now<MG1161> when Jesus<MG2424> saw<MG3708> a crowd<MG3793> around<MG4012> Him, He gave<MG2753> orders<MG2753> to depart<MG565> to the other<MG4008> side<MG4008> <i>of the sea.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Then<MG2532> a scribe<MG1122> came<MG4334> and said<MG3004> to Him, “Teacher<MG1320>, I will follow<MG190> You wherever<MG3699, 1437> You go<MG565>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>And Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to him, “The foxes<MG258> have<MG2192> holes<MG5454> and the birds<MG4071> of the sky<MG3772> <i>have</i> nests<MG2682>, but the Son<MG5207> of Man<MG444> has<MG2192> nowhere<MG3756, 4226> to lay<MG2827> His head<MG2776>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>And another<MG2087> of the disciples<MG3101> said<MG3004> to Him, “Lord<MG2962>, allow<MG2010> me first<MG4413> to go<MG565> and bury<MG2290> my father<MG3962>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>But Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to him, “Follow<MG190> Me, and let<MG863> the dead<MG3498> bury<MG2290> their own<MG1438> dead<MG3498>.” <p class="hdg">Jesus Calms the Storm</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>When He got<MG1684> into the boat<MG4143>, His disciples<MG3101> followed<MG190> Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>And behold<MG2400>, a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[v]</a></span>violent<MG3173> storm<MG4578> developed<MG1096> on the sea<MG2281>, so<MG5620> that<MG5620> the boat<MG4143> was being<MG2572> covered<MG2572> by the waves<MG2949>; but <i>Jesus</i> Himself<MG846> was<MG2518> asleep<MG2518>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>And they came<MG4334> to <i>Him</i> and woke<MG1453> Him, saying<MG3004>, “Save<MG4982> <i>us,</i> Lord<MG2962>; we are perishing<MG622>!” <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>He *said<MG3004> to them, “Why<MG5101> are you <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[w]</a></span>afraid<MG1169>, you men<MG3640b> of<MG3640b> little<MG3640b> faith<MG3640b>?” Then<MG5119> He got<MG1453> up<MG1453> and rebuked<MG2008> the winds<MG417> and the sea<MG2281>, and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[x]</a></span>it became<MG1096> perfectly<MG3173> calm<MG1055>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>The men<MG444> were<MG2296> amazed<MG2296>, and said<MG3004>, “What<MG4217> kind<MG4217> of<MG4217> a<MG4217> man<MG4217> is this<MG3778>, that even<MG2532> the winds<MG417> and the sea<MG2281> obey<MG5219> Him?” <p class="hdg">Jesus Sends Demons into Pigs</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>And when He came<MG2064> to the other<MG4008> side<MG4008> into the country<MG5561> of the Gadarenes<MG1046>, two<MG1417> demon-possessed<MG1139> men confronted<MG5221> Him as they were coming<MG1831> out<MG1831> of the tombs<MG3419>. <i>They were</i> so extremely<MG3029> violent<MG5467> that no<MG3361> one<MG5100> could<MG2480> pass<MG3928> by that way<MG3598>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>And they cried<MG2896> out<MG2896>, saying<MG3004>, “<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[y]</a></span>What<MG5101> business do You have with us, Son<MG5207> of God<MG2316>?
