best spike player selection in a top volleyball tournament of the world. Data consisted of the records of 2013 World Grand Prix declared by International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). Simple Multiple-Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) was used for optimal decision-making model on the best spike player selection. The research results showed that the best spike player ranking by SMART is different than the ranking by FIVB. The results demonstrated the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed model. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=simple%20multiple-attribute%20rating%20technique" title="simple multiple-attribute rating technique">simple multiple-attribute rating technique</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=World%20Grand%20Prix" title=" World Grand Prix"> World Grand Prix</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=best%20spike%20player" title=" best spike player"> best spike player</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=International%20Volleyball%20Federation" title=" International Volleyball Federation"> International Volleyball Federation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3166/simple-multiple-attribute-rating-technique-for-optimal-decision-making-model-on-selecting-best-spiker-of-world-grand-prix" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3166.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">474</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1624</span> An Integrated CFD and Experimental Analysis on Double-Skin Window</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sheam-Chyun%20Lin">Sheam-Chyun Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wei-Kai%20Chen"> Wei-Kai Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hung-Cheng%20Yen"> Hung-Cheng Yen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yung-Jen%20Cheng"> Yung-Jen Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu-Cheng%20Chen"> Yu-Cheng Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Result from the constant dwindle in natural resources, the alternative way to reduce the costs in our daily life would be urgent to be found in the near future. As the ancient technique based on the theory of solar chimney since roman times, the double-skin façade are simply composed of two large glass panels in purpose of daylighting and also natural ventilation in the daytime. Double-skin façade is generally installed on the exterior side of buildings as function as the window, so there’s always a huge amount of passive solar energy the façade would receive to induce the airflow every sunny day. Therefore this article imposes a domestic double-skin window for residential usage and attempts to improve the volume flow rate inside the cavity between the panels by the frame geometry design, the installation of outlet guide plate and the solar energy collection system. Note that the numerical analyses are applied to investigate the characteristics of flow field, and the boundary conditions in the simulation are totally based on the practical experiment of the original prototype. Then we redesign the prototype from the knowledge of the numerical results and fluid dynamic theory, and later the experiments of modified prototype will be conducted to verify the simulation results. The velocities at the inlet of each case are increase by 5%, 45% and 15% from the experimental data, and also the numerical simulation results reported 20% improvement in volume flow rate both for the frame geometry design and installation of outlet guide plate. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solar%20energy" title="solar energy">solar energy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=double-skin%20fa%C3%A7ades" title=" double-skin façades"> double-skin façades</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20buoyancy" title=" thermal buoyancy"> thermal buoyancy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fluid%20machinery" title=" fluid machinery"> fluid machinery</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26752/an-integrated-cfd-and-experimental-analysis-on-double-skin-window" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26752.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">497</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1623</span> Finding the Reaction Constant between Humic Acid and Aluminum Ion by Fluorescence Quenching Effect</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wen%20Po%20Cheng">Wen Po Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen%20Zhao%20Feng"> Chen Zhao Feng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ruey%20Fang%20Yu"> Ruey Fang Yu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lin%20Jia%20Jun"> Lin Jia Jun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lin%20Ji%20%20Ye"> Lin Ji Ye</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen%20Yuan%20Wei"> Chen Yuan Wei</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Humic acid was used as the removal target for evaluating the coagulation efficiency in this study. When the coagulant ions mix with a humic acid solution, a Fluorescence quenching effect may be observed conditionally. This effect can be described by Stern-Volmer linear equation which can be used for quantifying the quenching value (Kq) of the Fluorescence quenching effect. In addition, a Complex-Formation Titration (CFT) theory was conducted and the result was used to explain the electron-neutralization capability of the coagulant (AlCl₃) at different pH. The results indicated that when pH of the ACl₃ solution was between 6 and 8, fluorescence quenching effect obviously occurred. The maximum Kq value was found to be 102,524 at pH 6. It means that the higher the Kq value is, the better complex reaction between a humic acid and aluminum salts will be. Through the Kq value study, the optimum pH can be quantified when the humic acid solution is coagulated with aluminum ions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=humic%20acid" title="humic acid">humic acid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fluorescence%20quenching%20effect" title=" fluorescence quenching effect"> fluorescence quenching effect</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=complex%20reaction" title=" complex reaction"> complex reaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=titration" title=" titration"> titration</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92882/finding-the-reaction-constant-between-humic-acid-and-aluminum-ion-by-fluorescence-quenching-effect" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92882.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">578</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1622</span> The Study of Elementary School Teacher’s Behavior of Using E-books by UTAUT Model</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tzong-Shing%20Cheng">Tzong-Shing Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen%20Pei%20Chen"> Chen Pei Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shu-Wei%20Chen"> Shu-Wei Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The purpose of this research is to apply Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model to investigate the factors that influence elementary school teacher’s behavior of using e-books. Fulvic acid (FA) is class of compounds of humic substances and possesses various pharmacological properties. However, the effect of FA on inflammatory responses of the monocytes remains unclear. We investigated the regulatory effect of FA on homocysteine-induced COX-2 expression in human monocytes. Peripheral blood monocytes and U937 cells were kept as controls or pre-treated with FA, and then stimulated with homocysteine. The results show that pretreating monocytes with FA inhibited the homocysteine-induced COX-2 expression in a dose-dependent manner. The inhibitor for nuclear factor-kB (NF-kB) attenuated homocysteine-induced COX-2 expression. Our findings provide a molecular mechanism by which FA inhibit homocysteine-induced COX-2 expression in monocytes, and a basis for using FA in pharmaceutical therapy against inflammation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=homocysteine" title="homocysteine">homocysteine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=monocytes" title=" monocytes"> monocytes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cyclooxygenase-2" title=" cyclooxygenase-2"> cyclooxygenase-2</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fulvic%20acid" title=" fulvic acid"> fulvic acid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anti-inflammation" title=" anti-inflammation"> anti-inflammation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3151/attenuation-of-homocysteine-induced-cyclooxygenase-2-expression-in-human-monocytes-by-fulvic-acid" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3151.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">597</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1620</span> Maximum Induced Subgraph of an Augmented Cube</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meng-Jou%20Chien">Meng-Jou Chien</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jheng-Cheng%20Chen"> Jheng-Cheng Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chang-Hsiung%20Tsai"> Chang-Hsiung Tsai</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Let maxζG(m) denote the maximum number of edges in a subgraph of graph G induced by m nodes. Ultraviolet (UV) communication system can alleviate the spectrum constraint making UV communication system a potential alternative to future communication demands. Also, UV links can provide faster communication rate and can be used in combination with existing RF communication links, providing new communications diversity with higher user capacity. The UV region of electromagnetic spectrum has been of interest to detector, imaging and communication technologies because the stratospheric ozone layer effectively absorbs some solar UV radiation from reaching the earth surface. The wavebands where most of UV radiation is absorbed by the ozone are commonly known as the solar blind region. By operating in UV-C band (200-280 nm) the communication system can minimize the transmission power consumption since it will have less radiation noise. UV communication uses the UV ray as the medium. Electric signal is carried on this band after being modulated and then be transmitted within the atmosphere as channel. Though the background noise of UV-C communication is very low owing to the solar-blind feature, it leads to a large propagation loss. The 370 nm UV provides a much lower propagation loss than that the UV-C does and the recent device technology for UV source on this band is more mature. The fabricated 370 nm AlGaN light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with an aperture size of 45 m exhibit a modulation bandwidth of 165 MHz at 30 mA and a high power of 7 W/cm2 at 230 A/cm2. In order to solve the problem of low power in single UV LED, a UV LED array is presented in. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ultraviolet%20%28UV%29%20communication" title="ultraviolet (UV) communication">ultraviolet (UV) communication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=light-emitting%20diodes%20%28LEDs%29" title=" light-emitting diodes (LEDs)"> light-emitting diodes (LEDs)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modulation%20bandwidth" title=" modulation bandwidth"> modulation bandwidth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LED%20array" title=" LED array"> LED array</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=370%20nm" title=" 370 nm"> 370 nm</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46357/high-frequency-modulation-of-light-emitting-diodes-for-new-ultraviolet-communications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46357.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">414</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1617</span> Differential Effect of Technique Majors on Isokinetic Strength in Youth Judoka Athletes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chungyu%20Chen">Chungyu Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yi-Cheng%20Chen"> Yi-Cheng Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Po-Hsian%20Hsu"> Po-Hsian Hsu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hsin-Ying%20Chen"> Hsin-Ying Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yen-Po%20Hsiao"> Yen-Po Hsiao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The purpose of this study was to assess the muscular strength performance of upper and lower extremity in isokinetic system for the youth judo players, and also to compare the strength difference between major techniques. Sixteen male and 20 female judo players (age: 16.7 ± 1.6 years old, training age: 4.5 ± 0.8 years) were served as the volunteers for this study. There were 21 players major hand techniques and 15 players major foot techniques. The Biodex S4 Pro was used to assess the strength performance of extensor and flexor of concentric action under the load condition of 30 degree/sec, 60 degree/sec, and 120 degree/sec for elbow joints and knee joints. The strength parameters were included the maximal torque, the normalized maximal torque, the average power, and the average maximal torque. A t test for independent groups was used to evaluate whether hand major and foot major differ significantly with an alpha level of .05. The result showed the maximal torque of left knee extensor in foot major players (243.5 ± 36.3 Nm) was higher significantly than hand major (210.7 ± 21.0 Nm) under the load of 30 degree/sec (p < .05). There were no differences in upper extremity strength between the hand and foot techniques major in three loads (ps < .05). It indicated that the judo player is required to develop the upper extremity strength overall to secure the execution of major techniques. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=knee" title="knee">knee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elbow" title=" elbow"> elbow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power" title=" power"> power</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=judo" title=" judo"> judo</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68222/differential-effect-of-technique-majors-on-isokinetic-strength-in-youth-judoka-athletes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68222.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">456</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1616</span> Test-Retest Agreement, Random Measurement Error and Practice Effect of the Continuous Performance Test-Identical Pairs for Patients with Schizophrenia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kuan-Wei%20Chen">Kuan-Wei Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chien-Wei%20Chen"> Chien-Wei Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tai-Ling%20Chang"> Tai-Ling Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nan-Cheng%20Chen"> Nan-Cheng Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ching-Lin%20Hsieh"> Ching-Lin Hsieh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gong-Hong%20Lin"> Gong-Hong Lin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background and Purposes: Deficits in sustained attention are common in patients with schizophrenia. Such impairment can limit patients to effectively execute daily activities and affect the efficacy of rehabilitation. The aims of this study were to examine the test-retest agreement, random measurement error, and practice effect of the Continuous Performance Test-Identical Pairs (CPT-IP) (a commonly used sustained attention test) in patients with schizophrenia. The results can provide empirical evidence for clinicians and researchers to apply a sustained attention test with sound psychometric properties in schizophrenia patients. Methods: We recruited patients with chronic schizophrenia to be assessed twice with 1 week interval using CPT-IP. The intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) was used to examine the test-retest agreement. The percentage of minimal detectable change (MDC%) was used to examine the random measurement error. Moreover, the standardized response mean (SRM) was used to examine the practice effect. Results: A total of 56 patients participated in this study. Our results showed that the ICC was 0.82, MDC% was 47.4%, and SRMs were 0.36 for the CPT-IP. Conclusion: Our results indicate that CPT-IP has acceptable test-retests agreement, substantial random measurement error, and small practice effect in patients with schizophrenia. Therefore, to avoid overestimating patients’ changes in sustained attention, we suggest that clinicians interpret the change scores of CPT-IP conservatively in their routine repeated assessments. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=schizophrenia" title="schizophrenia">schizophrenia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustained%20attention" title=" sustained attention"> sustained attention</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CPT-IP" title=" CPT-IP"> CPT-IP</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reliability" title=" reliability"> reliability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75846/test-retest-agreement-random-measurement-error-and-practice-effect-of-the-continuous-performance-test-identical-pairs-for-patients-with-schizophrenia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75846.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">304</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1615</span> A Potential Spin-orbit Torque Device Using the Tri-layer Structure</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chih-Wei%20Cheng">Chih-Wei Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wei-Jen%20Chan"> Wei-Jen Chan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu-Han%20Huang"> Yu-Han Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yi-Tsung%20Lin"> Yi-Tsung Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yen-Wei%20Huang"> Yen-Wei Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Min-Cheng%20Chen"> Min-Cheng Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shou-Zen%20Chang"> Shou-Zen Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=G.%20Chern"> G. We propose a CoFeB/Ta/CoFeB tri-layer antiferromagnetic SOT device that could meet the above requirements. The device’s PMA was developed by adopting CoFeB–MgO interface. The key to the success of this structure is to ensure that (i)changes of the inter-layer coupling(IEC) and CoFeB anisotropy can occur simultaneously; (ii) one of the CoFeB needs to have a slightly tilted moment in the beginning. When sufficient current is given, the SHEreverses the already-tiltedCoFeB, and the other CoFeB can be reversed simultaneously by the IEC with the field-free nature. Adjusting the thickness of Ta can modify the coupling state to reduce the switching current while the field-free nature was preserved. Micromagnetic simulation suggests that the Néel orange peel effect (NOPE) is non-negligible due to interface roughness and coupling effect in the presence of perpendicular anisotropy. Fortunately, the Néel field induced by the NOPE appears to favor the field-free reversal. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CoFeB" title="CoFeB">CoFeB</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spin-orbit%20torque" title=" spin-orbit torque"> spin-orbit torque</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antiferromagnetic" title=" antiferromagnetic"> antiferromagnetic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MRAM" title=" MRAM"> MRAM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=trilayer" title=" trilayer"> trilayer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158357/a-potential-spin-orbit-torque-device-using-the-tri-layer-structure" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158357.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">117</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1614</span> The Effects of Displacer-Cylinder-Wall Conditions on the Performance of a Medium-Temperature-Differential γ-Type Stirling Engine</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wen-Lih%20Chen">Wen-Lih Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chao-Kuang%20Chen"> Chao-Kuang Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mao-Ju%20Fang"> Mao-Ju Fang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hsiang-Cheng%20Hsu"> Hsiang-Cheng Hsu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, we conducted CFD simulation to study the gas cycle of a medium-temperature-differential (MTD) γ-type Stirling engine. This study was performed to gain a better understanding of the wave-absorbing phenomenon of magnetic RAMs. First, we hypothesized that the absorbing phenomenon is dependent on the particle shape. Using the Material Studio program and the micro-dot magnetic dipoles (MDMD) method, we obtained results from magnetic RAMs to support this hypothesis. The total MDMD energy of disk-like iron particles was greater than that of spherical iron particles. In addition, the particulate aggregation phenomenon decreases the wave-absorbance, according to both experiments and computational data. To conclude, this study may be of importance in terms of explaining the wave- absorbing characteristic of magnetic RAMs. Combining molecular dynamics simulation results and the theory of magnetization of magnetic dots, we investigated the magnetic properties of iron materials with different particle shapes and degrees of aggregation under external magnetic fields. The MDMD of the materials under magnetic fields of various strengths were simulated. Our results suggested that disk-like iron particles had a better magnetization than spherical iron particles. This result could be correlated with the magnetic wave- absorbing property of iron material. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wave-absorbing%20property" title="wave-absorbing property">wave-absorbing property</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetic%20material" title=" magnetic material"> magnetic material</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=micro-dot%20magnetic%20dipole" title=" micro-dot magnetic dipole"> micro-dot magnetic dipole</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particulate%20aggregation" title=" particulate aggregation"> particulate aggregation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78242/computer-simulation-to-investigate-magnetic-and-wave-absorbing-properties-of-iron-nanoparticles" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78242.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">490</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1610</span> Dielectric Properties of La2MoO6 Ceramics at Microwave Frequency</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yih-Chien%20Chen">Yih-Chien Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu-Cheng%20You"> Yu-Cheng You</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The microwave dielectric properties of La2MoO6 ceramics were investigated with a view to their application in mobile communication. This research targets to continuously capture the low concentration CO₂ from the tail gas of the regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) in the high technology industry. A rotating packed bed (RPB) reactor is investigated to capture the efficiency of CO₂ using a mixture of NaOH/Na₂CO₃ solutions to simulate the real absorbed solution. On a lab scale, semi-batch experiments of continuous gas flow and circulating absorbent solution are conducted to find the optimal parameters and are then examined in a continuous operation. In the semi-batch tests, the carbon capture efficiency and pH variation in the conditions of a low concentration CO₂ (about 1.13 vol%), the NaOH concentration of 1 wt% or 2 wt% mixed with 14 wt% Na₂CO₃, the rotating speed (600, 900, 1200 rpm), the gas-liquid ratio (100, 200, and 400), and the temperature of absorbent solution of 40 ºC are studied. The CO₂ capture efficiency significantly increases with higher rotating speed and smaller gas-liquid ratio, respectively, while the difference between the NaOH concentration of 1 wt% and 2 wt% is relatively small. The maximum capture efficiency is close to 80% in the conditions of the NaOH concentration of 1 wt%, the G/L ratio of 100, and the rotating speed of 1200 rpm within the first 5 minutes. Furthermore, the continuous operation based on similar conditions also demonstrates the steady efficiency of the carbon capture of around 80%. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carbon%20dioxide%20capture" title="carbon dioxide capture">carbon dioxide capture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=regenerative%20thermal%20oxidizer" title=" regenerative thermal oxidizer"> regenerative thermal oxidizer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rotating%20packed%20bed" title=" rotating packed bed"> rotating packed bed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sodium%20hydroxide" title=" sodium hydroxide"> sodium hydroxide</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182235/an-experimental-study-of-low-concentration-co2-capture-from-regenerative-thermal-oxidation-tail-gas-in-rotating-packed-bed" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182235.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">61</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1608</span> Analysis of Accurate Direct-Estimation of the Maximum Power Point and Thermal Characteristics of High Concentration Photovoltaic Modules</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yan-Wen%20Wang">Yan-Wen Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chu-Yang%20Chou"> Chu-Yang Chou</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jen-Cheng%20Wang"> Jen-Cheng Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Min-Sheng%20Liao"> Min-Sheng Liao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hsuan-Hsiang%20%20Hsu"> Hsuan-Hsiang Hsu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Ying%20Chou"> Cheng-Ying Chou</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen-Kang%20Huang"> Chen-Kang Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kun-Chang%20%20Kuo"> Kun-Chang Kuo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Joe-Air%20Jiang"> Joe-Air Jiang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Performance-related parameters of high concentration photovoltaic (HCPV) modules (e.g. current and voltage) are required when estimating the maximum power point using numerical and approximation methods. The maximum power point on the characteristic curve for a photovoltaic module varies when temperature or solar radiation is different. It is also difficult to estimate the output performance and maximum power point (MPP) due to the special characteristics of HCPV modules. Based on the p-n junction semiconductor theory, a brand new and simple method is presented in this study to directly evaluate the MPP of HCPV modules. The MPP of HCPV modules can be determined from an irradiated I-V characteristic curve, because there is a non-linear relationship between the temperature of a solar cell and solar radiation. Numerical simulations and field tests are conducted to examine the characteristics of HCPV modules during maximum output power tracking. The performance of the presented method is evaluated by examining the dependence of temperature and irradiation intensity on the MPP characteristics of HCPV modules. These results show that the presented method allows HCPV modules to achieve their maximum power and perform power tracking under various operation conditions. A 0.1% error is found between the estimated and the real maximum power point. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20performance" title="energy performance">energy performance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high%20concentrated%20photovoltaic" title=" high concentrated photovoltaic"> high concentrated photovoltaic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=maximum%20power%20point" title=" maximum power point"> maximum power point</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=p-n%20junction%20semiconductor" title=" p-n junction semiconductor"> p-n junction semiconductor</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63807/analysis-of-accurate-direct-estimation-of-the-maximum-power-point-and-thermal-characteristics-of-high-concentration-photovoltaic-modules" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63807.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">584</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1607</span> Cognitive Stereotype Behaviors and Their Imprinting on the Individuals with Autism</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Li-Ju%20Chen">Li-Ju Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hsiang-Lin%20Chan"> Hsiang-Lin Chan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hsin-Yi%20Kathy%20Cheng"> Hsin-Yi Kathy Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hui-Ju%20Chen"> Hui-Ju Chen </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Stereotype behavior is one of the maladaptive syndromes of the individuals with autism. Most of the previous researches focused on the stereotype behavior with stimulating type, while less on the stereotype behavior about cognition (This research names it cognitive stereotype behavior; CSB). This research explored CSB and the rationality to explain CSB with imprinting phenomenon. After excluding the samples without CSB described, the data that came from 271 individuals with autism were recruited and analyzed with quantitative and qualitative analyses. This research discovers that : (1) Most of the individuals with autism originally came out CSB at 3 years old and more than a half of them appeared before 4 years old; The average age which firstly came out CSB was 6.10 years old, the average time insisting or ossifying CSB was 31.71 minutes each time and the average longest time which they last was 358.35 minutes (5.97 hours). (2) CSB demonstrates various aspects, this research classified them into 4 fields with 26 categories. They were categorized into sudden CSB or habitual CSB by imprinting performance. (3) Most of the autism commented that their CSBs were not necessary but they could not control them well. One-third of them appeared CSB suddenly and the first occurrence accompanied a strong emotional or behavioral response. (4) Whether respondent is the person with autism himself/herself or not was the critical element: on the awareness of the severity degree, disturbance degree, and the emotional /behavioral intensity at the first-time CSB happened. This study concludes imprinting could reasonably explain the phenomenon CSB forms. There are implications leading the individuals with autism and their family to develop coping strategies to promote individuals with autism having a better learning accomplishment and life quality in their future. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=autism" title="autism">autism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cognitive%20stereotype%20behavior" title=" cognitive stereotype behavior"> cognitive stereotype behavior</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=constructivism" title=" constructivism"> constructivism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=imprinting" title=" imprinting"> imprinting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stereotype" title=" stereotype"> stereotype</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/121745/cognitive-stereotype-behaviors-and-their-imprinting-on-the-individuals-with-autism" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/121745.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">130</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1606</span> The Evaluation of Adjuvant Effects of CD154 in a Subunit Vaccine against Classical Swine Fever Virus</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu-Chieh%20Chen">Yu-Chieh Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Li-Yun%20Wang"> Li-Yun Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chi-Chih%20Chen"> Chi-Chih Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huy%20H%C3%B9ng%20%C4%90%C3%A0o"> Huy Hùng Đào</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ya-Mei%20Chen"> Ya-Mei Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ming-Chu%20Cheng"> Ming-Chu Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wen-Bin%20Chung"> Wen-Bin Chung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hso-Chi%20Chaung"> Hso-Chi Chaung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guan-Ming%20Ke"> Guan-Ming Ke</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Many recent researches have demonstrated that CD154, a protein primarily expressed on activated T cell molecules, has potentially acted as a molecular adjuvant to improve the immunogenicity of subunit vaccines against viral infections. Classical swine fever (CSF) affects the swine industry worldwide that is one of the most devastating and highly contagious pig diseases. It is listed by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) as an infectious animal disease that must be reported. Although pigs vaccinated with subunit vaccines can be differentially diagnosed from those infected animals, subunit vaccines usually need adjuvants to enhance and elicit immune responses. In this study, CD154 was linked with CSFV E2 sequences and then expressed in CHO cells to produce the fusion protein as E2-CD154. The porcine specific CpG adjuvant was also used in one of the formulations. The specific pathogen-free pigs (SPF) at the age of 4-week-old were randomly separated into four groups, vaccinated with E2-CpG, E2-CD154, E2-CD154-CpG or the commercial Bayovac® CSF-E2 vaccine and boosted two weeks after primary vaccination. The results showed that the percentages of CD4+ and CD4+IL2+ in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) in E2-CD154 vaccinated piglets seven days after primary vaccination were gained by 1-5% relative to the control group. In addition, the percentages of CD4+IFNγ+ T cells had slightly edged up 0.1-0.3% compared with the control group. Also, increased E2-specific IFNγ levels had edged up CD4+CD8+ T cells found in E2-CD154 and E2-CD154-CpG groups, particularly in the E2-CD154-CpG group. These results implicate that CD154 may enhance cellular immunity and synergistically act with species-specific CpG adjuvant as a dual-phase adjuvant. Therefore, the CD154 may be beneficial as a promising adjuvant in subunit vaccines. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CD154" title="CD154">CD154</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CpG%20adjuvant" title=" CpG adjuvant"> CpG adjuvant</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cellular%20immunity" title=" cellular immunity"> cellular immunity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=subunit%20vaccine" title=" subunit vaccine"> subunit vaccine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pig" title=" pig"> pig</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/177660/the-evaluation-of-adjuvant-effects-of-cd154-in-a-subunit-vaccine-against-classical-swine-fever-virus" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/177660.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">68</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1605</span> Group Consensus of Hesitant Fuzzy Linguistic Variables for Decision-Making Problem</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen%20T.%20Chen">Chen T. Therefore, it is an important issue to reach the group consensus of opinions of experts in group multiple-criteria decision-making (GMCDM) process. Because the subjective opinions of experts always are fuzziness and uncertainties, it is difficult to use crisp values to describe the real opinions of experts or decision-makers. It is reasonable for experts to use the linguistic variables to express their opinions. The hesitant fuzzy set are extended from the concept of fuzzy sets. Experts use the hesitant fuzzy sets can be flexible to describe their subjective opinions. In order to aggregate the hesitant fuzzy linguistic variables of all experts effectively, an adjustment method based on distance function will be presented in this paper. Based on the opinions adjustment method, this paper will present an effective approach to adjust the hesitant fuzzy linguistic variables of all experts to reach the group consensus. Then, a new hesitant linguistic GMCDM method will be presented based on the group consensus of hesitant fuzzy linguistic variables. Finally, an example will be implemented to illustrate the computational process to enhance the practical value of the proposed model. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=group%20multi-criteria%20decision-making" title="group multi-criteria decision-making">group multi-criteria decision-making</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linguistic%20variables" title=" linguistic variables"> linguistic variables</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hesitant%20fuzzy%20linguistic%20variables" title=" hesitant fuzzy linguistic variables"> hesitant fuzzy linguistic variables</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distance%20function" title=" distance function"> distance function</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=group%20consensus" title=" group consensus "> group consensus </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/123438/group-consensus-of-hesitant-fuzzy-linguistic-variables-for-decision-making-problem" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/123438.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">156</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1604</span> The Investigation of LPG Injector Control Circuit on a Motorcycle</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bin-Wen%20Lan">Bin-Wen Lan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ying-Xin%20Chen"> Ying-Xin Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hsueh-Cheng%20Yang"> Hsueh-Cheng Yang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Liquefied petroleum gas is a fuel that has high octane number and low carbon number. This paper uses MSC-51 controller to investigate the effect of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) on exhaust emissions for different engine speeds in a single cylinder, four-stroke and spark ignition engine. The results indicate that CO, CO2 and NOX exhaust emissions are lower with the use of LPG compared to the use of unleaded gasoline by using the developed controller. The open-loop in the LPG injection system was controlled by MCS-51 single chip. The results show that if a SI engine is operated with LPG fuel rather than gasoline fuel under the same conditions, significant reduction in exhaust emissions can be achieved. Some modifications in designing the side plates are made in this study to simplify the construction in the field and reduce the cost. At certain region, side plates are not added: (1) At the beam end to preserve some spaces for bolt installation, but the beam is strengthened by adding cover plate at both flanges and (2) at the middle span of the beam where the moment is smaller. Three small scale full span beam specimens are tested under cyclic loading to investigate the LTB resistant and the ductility of the proposed design method. Test results show that the LTB deformation can be effectively suppressed and very high ductility level can be achieved. Following the test, a finite element analysis (FEA) model is established and is verified using the test results. An intensive parametric study is conducted using the established FEA model. The analysis reveals that the length of side plates is the most important parameter determining the performance of the beam and the required side plates length is determined by some parameters which are (1) beam depth to flange width ratio, (2) beam slenderness ratio (3) strength and thickness of the side plates, (4) compactness of beam web and flange, and (5) beam yield strength. At the end of the paper, a design formula to calculate the required side plate length is suggested. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cover%20plate" title="cover plate">cover plate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=earthquake%20resistant%20design" title=" earthquake resistant design"> earthquake resistant design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lateral%20torsional%20buckling" title=" lateral torsional buckling"> lateral torsional buckling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=side%20plate" title=" side plate"> side plate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=steel%20structure" title=" steel structure"> steel structure</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96206/modified-side-plate-design-to-suppress-lateral-torsional-buckling-of-h-beam-for-seismic-application" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96206.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">175</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1602</span> Visual Search Based Indoor Localization in Low Light via RGB-D Camera</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yali%20Zheng">Yali Zheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peipei%20Luo"> Peipei Luo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shinan%20Chen"> Shinan Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jiasheng%20Hao"> Jiasheng Hao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hong%20Cheng"> Hong Cheng</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Most of traditional visual indoor navigation algorithms and methods only consider the localization in ordinary daytime, while we focus on the indoor re-localization in low light in the paper. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulation results. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dual-band" title="dual-band">dual-band</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bandpass%20filter" title=" bandpass filter"> bandpass filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stepped%20impedance%20resonators" title=" stepped impedance resonators"> stepped impedance resonators</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SIR" title=" SIR"> SIR</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44601/compact-dual-band-bandpass-filter-based-on-quarter-wavelength-stepped-impedance-resonators" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44601.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">517</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1600</span> The Nurse Practitioner’s Role Functions in Multi-Specialist Team When Caring for a Metastatic Colon Cancer Patient with Acute Intestinal Obstruction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yun-Tsuen%20Chen">Yun-Tsuen Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shih-Ting%20Huang"> Shih-Ting Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pi-Fen%20Cheng"> Pi-Fen Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu-Ting%20Su"> Yu-Ting Su</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Joffrey%20Hsu"> Joffrey Hsu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hui-Zhu%20Chen"> Hui-Zhu Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Acute intestinal obstruction is one of the differentials of acute abdomen and requires timely alleviation of intestinal distention and abdominal pain to avoid perforation, intra-abdominal infection, and peritonitis. Investigation to identify the cause of obstruction will direct treatment planning and allow for more effective management. In this study, we present a 71-year-old female presenting with symptoms of acute intestinal obstruction for five days. After extensive history taking, physical exam, medical imaging, and pathology, the patient was diagnosed with colon cancer with lung metastasis and acute intestinal obstruction. The patient was placed on nil per os status with intravenous fluid support, intravenous antibiotics, and a decompression nasogastric tube was placed. The patient received decompression with colostomy creation surgery. After assessing the patient’s clinical condition and tumor staging, a multidisciplinary healthcare team created an individualized treatment plan, which included plans to prepare the patient for home self-care and maintain good mental health with regular monitoring in the clinic setting. This case demonstrates the importance of early diagnosis, effective treatment, and a multidisciplinary approach to the management of acute intestinal obstruction secondary to colon cancer. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acute%20intestinal%20obstruction" title="acute intestinal obstruction">acute intestinal obstruction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=colostomy%20surgery" title=" colostomy surgery"> colostomy surgery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metastatic%20colon%20cancer" title=" metastatic colon cancer"> metastatic colon cancer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multidisciplinary%20healthcare%20team" title=" multidisciplinary healthcare team"> multidisciplinary healthcare team</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155499/the-nurse-practitioners-role-functions-in-multi-specialist-team-when-caring-for-a-metastatic-colon-cancer-patient-with-acute-intestinal-obstruction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155499.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">114</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1599</span> At Home in This World: Nanyang Painter Georgette Chen</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Christine%20C.%20Neal">Christine C. Much has been written about her contribution to the art of Singapore, her role in the establishment of the Nanyang Style, the lasting influence that she exerted on younger artists, and her considerable artistic achievements. Never before examined is the development of her oeuvre that reflects this mixture, to the best of the author’s knowledge. The works selected for this investigation reveal her artistic development from student to teacher, the range of her thematic interests, and the stimuli that she absorbed from a life ensconced in eastern and western cultures where she felt, as she wrote, “at home in this world.” <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=art" title="art">art</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=China" title=" China"> China</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Georgette%20Chen" title=" Georgette Chen"> Georgette Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nanyang" title=" Nanyang"> Nanyang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Paris" title=" Paris"> Paris</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Singapore" title=" Singapore"> Singapore</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/132000/at-home-in-this-world-nanyang-painter-georgette-chen" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/132000.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">284</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1598</span> Factors Affecting Aluminum Dissolve from Acidified Water Purification Sludge</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wen%20Po%20Cheng">Wen Po Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chi%20Hua%20Fu"> Chi Hua Fu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ping%20Hung%20Chen"> Ping Hung Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ruey%20Fang%20Yu"> Ruey Fang Yu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Recovering resources from water purification sludge (WPS) have been gradually stipulated in environmental protection laws and regulations in many nations. Hence, reusing the WPS is becoming an important topic, and recovering alum from WPS is one of the many practical alternatives. Most previous research efforts have been conducted on studying the amphoteric characteristic of aluminum hydroxide for investigating the optimum pH range to dissolve the Al(III) species from WPS, but it has been lack of reaction kinetics or mechanisms related discussion. Therefore, in this investigation, water purification sludge (WPS) solution was broken by ultrasound to make particle size of reactants smaller, specific surface area larger. According to the reaction kinetics, these phenomena let the dissolved aluminum salt quantity increased and the reaction rate go faster. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aluminum" title="aluminum">aluminum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acidification" title=" acidification"> acidification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sludge" title=" sludge"> sludge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=recovery" title=" recovery"> recovery</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/7385/factors-affecting-aluminum-dissolve-from-acidified-water-purification-sludge" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/7385.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">629</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1597</span> Half-Circle Fuzzy Number Threshold Determination via Swarm Intelligence Method</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=P.%20W.%20Tsai">P. Especially on topics related to controller design such as the field of robot, artificial intelligence, and nonlinear systems etc. Besides fuzzy theory, algorithms in swarm intelligence are also a popular field for the researchers. In this paper, a concept of utilizing one of the swarm intelligence method, which is called Bacterial-GA Foraging, to find the stabilized common P matrix for the fuzzy controller system is proposed. An example is given in in the paper, as well. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=half-circle%20fuzzy%20numbers" title="half-circle fuzzy numbers">half-circle fuzzy numbers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=predictions" title=" predictions"> predictions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=swarm%20intelligence" title=" swarm intelligence"> swarm intelligence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lyapunov%20method" title=" Lyapunov method"> Lyapunov method</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11233/half-circle-fuzzy-number-threshold-determination-via-swarm-intelligence-method" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11233.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">685</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1596</span> Component Comparison of Polyaluminum Chloride Produced from Various Methods</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wen%20Po%20Cheng">Wen Po Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chia%20Yun%20Chung"> Chia Yun Chung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ruey%20Fang%20Yu"> Ruey Fang Yu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chao%20Feng%20Chen"> Chao Feng Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The main objective of this research was to study the differences of aluminum hydrolytic products between two PACl preparation methods. These two methods were the acidification process of freshly formed amorphous Al(OH)3 and the conventional alkalization process of aluminum chloride solution. According to Ferron test and 27Al NMR analysis of those two PACl preparation procedures, the reaction rate constant (k) values and Al13 percentage of acid addition process at high basicity value were both lower than those values of the alkaline addition process. The results showed that the molecular structure and size distribution of the aluminum species in both preparing methods were suspected to be significantly different at high basicity value. <p
