This porous LWRT composite is manufactured using polyolefin, fiberglass, and fire retardant additives via a wet-lay process. However, discoloration of the LWRT can be induced by various mechanisms, which may be a concern in the building and construction industry. It is commonly understood that discoloration is strongly associated with the presence of phenolic antioxidant(s) and NOx. The over-oxidation of phenolic antioxidant(s) is probably the root-cause of the discoloration (pinking/yellowing). Hanwha Azdel, Inc. developed a LWRT with fire-retardant property of ASTM E84-Class A specification, as well as negligible discoloration even under harsh conditions. In addition, this thermoplastic material is suitable for secondary processing (e.g. compression molding) if necessary. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=discoloration" title="discoloration">discoloration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fire-retardant" title=" fire-retardant"> fire-retardant</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermoplastic%20composites" title=" thermoplastic composites"> thermoplastic composites</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wet-lay%20process" title=" wet-lay process"> wet-lay process</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/111655/thermoplastic-composites-with-reduced-discoloration-and-enhanced-fire-retardant-property" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/111655.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">128</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1595</span> The Association between Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome and Driver Fatigue in North Taiwan Urban Areas</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Yu%20Tsai">Cheng-Yu Tsai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wen-Te%20Liu"> Wen-Te Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen-Chen%20Lo"> Chen-Chen Lo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yin-Tzu%20Lin"> Yin-Tzu Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kang%20Lo"> Kang Lo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Driving fatigue related to inadequate or disordered sleep accounts for a major percentage of traffic accidents. There are existing various between different systems in indoor-stadium, so the aim of this study want to know how many effects in different WSS, especially for effects of ground reaction force(GRF) when player jumped. Materials and Methods: 12 participants acted counter-movement jump (CMJ) on 7 different surfaces, include 6 WSSs by 3 types rubber shock absorber pad (SAP) on cross or parallel fixed, and 1 rigid ground. GRFs of takeoff and landing had been recorded from an AMTI force platform when all participants acted vertical CMJs by counter-balance design. All data were analyzed using the one-way ANOVA to evaluate whether the test variable differed significantly between surfaces. The significance level was set at α=0.05. Results: There were non-significance in GRF between surfaces when participants taken off. For GRF of landing, we found WSS with cross fixed SAP are harder than parallel fixed. Although there were also non-significance when participant was landing on cross or parallel fixed surfaces, but there have test variable differed significantly between WSS with parallel fixed to rigid ground. In the study, landing to WSS with the hardest SAP, the GRF also have test variable differed significantly to other WSS. Conclusion: Although official basketball competition is in the WSS certificated by FIBA, there are also exist the various in GRF under takeoff or landing, any player must to warm-up before game starting. Especially, there is unsafe situation when play basketball on uncertificated WSS. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wooden%20surface%20system" title="wooden surface system">wooden surface system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=counter-movement%20jump" title=" counter-movement jump"> counter-movement jump</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ground%20reaction%20force" title=" ground reaction force"> ground reaction force</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shock%20absorber%20pad" title=" shock absorber pad"> shock absorber pad</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30923/effects-of-grf-on-cmj-in-different-wooden-surface-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30923.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">446</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1593</span> The Effect of Austenitization Conditioning on the Mechanical Properties of Cr-Mo-V Hot Work Tool Steel with Different Nitrogen Addition</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Iting%20Chiang">Iting Chiang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Yu%20Wei"> Cheng-Yu Wei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chin-Teng%20Kuo"> Chin-Teng Kuo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Po-Sheng%20Hsu"> Po-Sheng Hsu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yo-Lun%20Yang"> Yo-Lun Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yung-Chang%20Kang"> Yung-Chang Kang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chien-Chon%20Chen"> Chien-Chon Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chih-Yuan%20Chen"> Chih-Yuan Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In recent years, it is reported that microalloying of nitrogen atoms within traditional Cr-Mo-V hot work tool steels can achieve better high temperature mechanical properties, which thus leads to such metallurgical approach widely utilized in the several commercial advanced hot work tool steels. Although the performance of hot work tool steel can be improved better by alloy composition design strategy, the influence of processing parameters on the mechanical property, especially on the service life of hot work tool steel, is still not fully understood yet. A longer service life of hot work tool steel can decrease the manufacturing cost effectively and thus become a research hot spot. According to several previous studies, it is generally acknowledged the service life of hot work tool steels can be increased effectively as the steels possessing higher hardness and toughness due to the formation and propagation of microcracks within the steel can be inhibited effectively. Therefore, in the present research, the designed experiments are primarily to explore the synergistic effect of nitrogen content and austenitization conditioning on the mechanical properties of hot work tool steels has been conducted and analyzed. No matter the nitrogen content, the results indicated the hardness of hot work tool steels increased as the austenitization treatment executed at higher temperature. On the other hand, an optimum toughness of hot work tool steel can be achieved as the austenitization treatment performed at a suitable temperature range. The possible explanation of such metallurgical phenomenon has been also proposed and analyzed in the present research. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hot%20work%20tool%20steel" title="hot work tool steel">hot work tool steel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cr-Mo-V" title=" Cr-Mo-V"> Cr-Mo-V</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=toughness" title=" toughness"> toughness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hardness" title=" hardness"> hardness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TEM" title=" TEM"> TEM</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/176209/the-effect-of-austenitization-conditioning-on-the-mechanical-properties-of-cr-mo-v-hot-work-tool-steel-with-different-nitrogen-addition" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/176209.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">59</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1592</span> Relationships of Driver Drowsiness and Sleep-Disordered Breathing Syndrome</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Yu%20Tsai">Cheng-Yu Tsai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wen-Te%20Liu"> Wen-Te Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yin-Tzu%20Lin"> Yin-Tzu Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen-Chen%20Lo"> Chen-Chen Lo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kang%20Lo"> Kang Lo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Driving drowsiness related to inadequate or disordered sleep accounts for a major percentage of traffic accidents. When the vibrating fork touches an object, its resonance frequency changes and produces a signal that returns to a controller for immediate adjustment, so as to effectively monitor raw material loading. The design of the vibrating fork in a vibrating-fork material sensor is crucial. In addition, to design and produce a superior vibrating fork, the dimensions and welding shape of the vibrating fork are compared in a simulation performed using the Taguchi method. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vibrating%20fork" title="vibrating fork">vibrating fork</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piezoelectric%20ceramics" title=" piezoelectric ceramics"> piezoelectric ceramics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sound%20wave" title=" sound wave"> sound wave</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ANSYS" title=" ANSYS"> ANSYS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Taguchi%20method" title=" Taguchi method"> Taguchi method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modal%20analysis" title=" modal analysis"> modal analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53461/innovation-and-analysis-of-vibrating-fork-level-switch" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53461.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">249</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1590</span> Eight Weeks of Suspension Systems Training on Fat Mass, Jump and Physical Fitness Index in Female</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Che%20Hsiu%20Chen">Che Hsiu Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Su%20Yun%20Chen"> Su Yun Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hon%20Wen%20Cheng"> Hon Wen Cheng</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Greater core stability may benefit sports performance by providing a foundation for greater force production in the upper and lower extremities. Core stability exercises on instability device (such as the TRX suspension systems) were found to be able to induce higher core muscle activity than performing on a stable surface. However, high intensity interval TRX suspension exercises training on sport performances remain unclear. The purpose of this study was to examine whether high intensity TRX suspension training could improve sport performance. Twenty-four healthy university female students (age 19.0 years, height 157.9 cm, body mass 51.3 kg, fat mass 25.2 %) were voluntarily participated in this study. After a familiarization session, each participant underwent five suspension exercises (e.g., hip abduction in plank alternative, hamstring curl, 45-degree row, lunge and oblique crunch). Each type of exercise was performed for 30 seconds, followed by 30 seconds break, two times per week for eight weeks while each exercise session was increased by 10 seconds every week. The results showed that the fat mass (about 12.92%) decreased significantly, sit and reach test (9%), 1 minute sit-up test (17.5%), standing broad jump (4.8%), physical fitness index (10.3%) increased significantly after 8-week high intensity TRX suspension training. Hence, eight weeks of high intensity interval TRX suspension exercises training can improve hamstring flexibility, trunk endurance, jump ability, aerobic fitness and fat mass percentage decreased substantially. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=core%20endurance" title="core endurance">core endurance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=jump" title=" jump"> jump</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flexibility" title=" flexibility"> flexibility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cardiovascular%20fitness" title=" cardiovascular fitness"> cardiovascular fitness</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/50791/eight-weeks-of-suspension-systems-training-on-fat-mass-jump-and-physical-fitness-index-in-female" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/50791.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">409</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1589</span> Using the Transtheoretical Model to Investigate Stages of Change in Regular Volunteer Service among Seniors in Community</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pei-Ti%20Hsu">Pei-Ti Hsu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=I-Ju%20Chen"> I-Ju Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jeu-Jung%20Chen"> Jeu-Jung Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Fen%20Chang"> Cheng-Fen Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shiu-Yan%20Yang"> Shiu-Yan Yang </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Taiwan now is an aging society Research on the elderly should not be confined to caring for seniors, but should also be focused on ways to improve health and the quality of life. Senior citizens who participate in volunteer services could become less lonely, have new growth opportunities, and regain a sense of accomplishment. Thus, the question of how to get the elderly to participate in volunteer service is worth exploring. Apply the Transtheoretical Model to understand stages of change in regular volunteer service and voluntary service behaviour among the seniors. 1525 adults over the age of 65 from the Renai district of Keelung City were interviewed. The research tool was a self-constructed questionnaire and individual interviews were conducted to collect data. Then the data was processed and analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistics 20 (Windows version) statistical software program. In the past six months, research subjects averaged 9.92 days of volunteer services. A majority of these elderly individuals had no intention to change their regular volunteer services. We discovered that during the maintenance stage, the self-efficacy for volunteer services was higher than during all other stages, but self-perceived barriers were less during the preparation stage and action stage. Self-perceived benefits were found to have an important predictive power for those with regular volunteer service behaviors in the previous stage, and self-efficacy was found to have an important predictive power for those with regular volunteer service behaviors in later stages. The research results support the conclusion that community nursing staff should group elders based on their regular volunteer services change stages and design appropriate behavioral change strategies. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=seniors" title="seniors">seniors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stages%20of%20change%20in%20regular%20volunteer%20services" title=" stages of change in regular volunteer services"> stages of change in regular volunteer services</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=volunteer%20service%20behavior" title=" volunteer service behavior"> volunteer service behavior</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-efficacy" title=" self-efficacy"> self-efficacy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-perceived%20benefits" title=" self-perceived benefits "> self-perceived benefits </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16853/using-the-transtheoretical-model-to-investigate-stages-of-change-in-regular-volunteer-service-among-seniors-in-community" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16853.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">426</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1588</span> Effect of High-Intensity Core Muscle Exercises Training on Sport Performance in Dancers</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Che%20Hsiu%20Chen">Che Hsiu Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Su%20Yun%20Chen"> Su Yun Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hon%20Wen%20Cheng"> Hon Wen Cheng</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Traditional core stability, core endurance, and balance exercises on a stable surface with isometric muscle actions, low loads, and multiple repetitions, which may not improvements the swimming and running economy performance. The purpose of this study was to examine whether high intensity core muscle exercises training could improve sport performances in dancers. Thirty healthy university dancer students (28 women and 2 men; age 20.0 years, height 159.4 cm, body mass 52.7 kg) were voluntarily participated in this study, and each participant underwent five suspension exercises (e.g., hip abduction in plank alternative, hamstring curl, 45-degree row, lunge and oblique crunch). Each type of exercise was performed for 30-second, with 30-second of rest between exercises, two times per week for eight weeks and each exercise session was increased by 10-second every week. We measured agility, explosive force, anaerobic and cardiovascular fitness in dancer performance before and after eight weeks of training. The results showed that the 8-week high intensity core muscle training would significantly increase T-test agility (7.78%), explosive force of acceleration (3.35%), vertical jump height (8.10%), jump power (6.95%), lower extremity anaerobic ability (7.10%) and oxygen uptake efficiency slope (4.15%). Therefore, it can be concluded that eight weeks of high intensity core muscle exercises training can improve not only agility, sprint ability, vertical jump ability, anaerobic and but also cardiovascular fitness measures as well. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=balance" title="balance">balance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=jump%20height" title=" jump height"> jump height</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sprint" title=" sprint"> sprint</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=maximal%20oxygen%20uptake" title=" maximal oxygen uptake"> maximal oxygen uptake</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/50790/effect-of-high-intensity-core-muscle-exercises-training-on-sport-performance-in-dancers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/50790.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">407</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1587</span> Developing an Intelligent Table Tennis Ball Machine with Human Play Simulation for Technical Training</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen-Chi%20An">Chen-Chi An</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jun-Yi%20He"> Jun-Yi He</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Han%20Hsieh"> Cheng-Han Hsieh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen-Ching%20Ting"> Chen-Ching Ting</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research has successfully developed an intelligent table tennis ball machine with human play simulate all situations of human play to take the service. It is well known; an excellent ball machine can help the table tennis coach to provide more efficient teaching, also give players the good technical training and entertainment. An excellent ball machine should be able to service all balls based on human play simulation due to the conventional competitions are today all taken place for people. In this work, two counter-rotating wheels are used to service the balls, where changing the absolute rotating speeds of the two wheels and the differences of rotating speeds between the two wheels can adjust the struck forces and the rotating speeds of the ball. The relationships between the absolute rotating speed of the two wheels and the struck forces of the ball as well as the differences rotating speeds between the two wheels and the rotating speeds of the ball are experimentally determined for technical development. The outlet speed, the ejected distance, and the rotating speed of the ball were measured by changing the absolute rotating speeds of the two wheels in terms of a series of differences in rotating speed between the two wheels for calibration of the ball machine; where the outlet speed and the ejected distance of the ball were further converted to the struck forces of the ball. In process, the balls serviced by the intelligent ball machine were based on the received calibration curves with help of the computer. Experiments technically used photosensitive devices to detect the outlet and rotating speed of the ball. Finally, this research developed some teaching programs for technical training using three ball machines and received more efficient training. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=table%20tennis" title="table tennis">table tennis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ball%20machine" title=" ball machine"> ball machine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=human%20play%20simulation" title=" human play simulation"> human play simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=counter-rotating%20wheels" title=" counter-rotating wheels"> counter-rotating wheels</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49530/developing-an-intelligent-table-tennis-ball-machine-with-human-play-simulation-for-technical-training" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49530.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">429</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1586</span> Sliding Mode Position Control for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors Based on Passivity Approach</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jenn-Yih%20Chen">Jenn-Yih Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bean-Yin%20Lee"> Bean-Yin Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yuan-Chuan%20Hsu"> Yuan-Chuan Hsu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jui-Cheng%20Lin"> Jui-Cheng Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kuang-Chyi%20Lee"> Kuang-Chyi Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, a sliding mode control method based on the passivity approach is proposed to control the position of surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). Firstly, the dynamics of a PMSM was proved to be strictly passive. The position controller with an adaptive law was used to estimate the load torque to eliminate the chattering effects associated with the conventional sliding mode controller. The stability analysis of the overall position control system was carried out by adopting the passivity theorem instead of Lyapunov-type arguments. Finally, experimental results were provided to show that the good position tracking can be obtained, and exhibit robustness in the variations of the motor parameters and load torque disturbances. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adaptive%20law" title="adaptive law">adaptive law</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=passivity%20theorem" title=" passivity theorem"> passivity theorem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=permanent%20magnet%20synchronous%20motor" title=" permanent magnet synchronous motor"> permanent magnet synchronous motor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sliding%20mode%20control" title=" sliding mode control"> sliding mode control</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10734/sliding-mode-position-control-for-permanent-magnet-synchronous-motors-based-on-passivity-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10734.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">468</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1585</span> Systematic Process for Constructing an Augmented Reality Display Platform</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng%20Chieh%20Hsu">Cheng Chieh Hsu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alfred%20Chen"> Alfred Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu-Pin%20Ma"> Yu-Pin Ma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meng-Jie%20Lin"> Meng-Jie Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fu%20Pai%20Chiu"> Fu Pai Chiu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yi-Yan%20Sie"> Yi-Yan Sie </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, it is attempted to construct an augmented reality display platform (ARDP), and its objectives are two facets, i.e. 1) providing a creative display mode for museums/historical heritages and 2) providing a benchmark for human-computer interaction professionals to build an augmented reality display platform. A general augmented reality theory has been explored in the very beginning and afterwards a systematic process model is proposed. There are three major core tasks to be done for the platform, i.e. 1) constructing the physical interactive table, 2) designing the media, and 3) designing the media carrier. In order to describe how the platform manipulates, the authors have introduced Tainan Confucius Temple, a cultural heritage in Taiwan, as a case study. As a result, a systematic process with thirteen steps has been developed and it aims at providing a rational method for constructing the platform. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=human-computer%20interaction" title="human-computer interaction">human-computer interaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=media" title=" media"> media</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=media%20carrier" title=" media carrier"> media carrier</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=augmented%20reality%20display%20platform" title=" augmented reality display platform"> augmented reality display platform</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18782/systematic-process-for-constructing-an-augmented-reality-display-platform" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18782.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">415</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1584</span> Using Multi-Specialist Team to Care for a Breast Cancer Patient Who Received Total Mastectomy during Pregnancy</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yun-Tsuen%20Chen">Yun-Tsuen Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shih-Ting%20Huang"> Shih-Ting Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pi-Fen%20Cheng"> Pi-Fen Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Heng-Hua%20Wang"> Heng-Hua Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hui-Zhu%20Chen"> Hui-Zhu Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper discusses the experience of caring for a patient diagnosed with breast cancer and later received total mastectomy during a 2nd trimester pregnancy. She was hospitalized from January 31 to February 4, 2018. Using 'Gordon’s 11 Functional Health Patterns' through physical exams and interviews, the researcher assessed the patient’s physical and mental health and determined the patient to have anxiety, acute pain, and body image disturbance. After establishing a strong relationship with the patient, the researcher helped the patient express her anxiety and personal feelings. A multi-specialist team was formed to evaluate both the patient and her unborn child, before, during, and after surgery. This individualized care allowed the patient and her child to optimize the post-operative results. Aside from medication, the patient also received non-medicinal treatment, including improvement of sleep quality with body positioning, diaphragmatic breathing exercises for pain and stress relief after surgery. Throughout hospitalization, the patient’s physical and emotional needs were addressed daily with listening sessions and empathy. The patient’s husband was also incorporated in the patient’s recovery by teaching both he and the patient how to change the sterile wound dressing, which may have the added benefit of improving marital relationships through shared activities of nurturing. The patient was also given advice about how to improve self-confidence through clothing. Lastly, the patient was encouraged to join a support group for breast cancer patients. Through the sharing of experience in groups and within the family, the patient was helped to adapt to the change of her appearance and re-establish her self-confidence. This level of care expedited the patient’s return to her family life and role of being a mother. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anxiety" title="anxiety">anxiety</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=body%20image%20disturbance" title=" body image disturbance"> body image disturbance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=breast%20cancer%20during%20pregnancy" title=" breast cancer during pregnancy"> breast cancer during pregnancy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-specialist%20team" title=" multi-specialist team"> multi-specialist team</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/113372/using-multi-specialist-team-to-care-for-a-breast-cancer-patient-who-received-total-mastectomy-during-pregnancy" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/113372.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">98</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1583</span> A Study of Lurking Behavior: The Desire Perspective</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hsiu-Hua%20Cheng">Hsiu-Hua Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chi-Wei%20Chen"> Chi-Wei Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Lurking behaviour is common in information-seeking oriented communities. The hydrogeological structure is an important base for groundwater analysis and simulation. Traditionally, the hydrogeological structure is artificially determined based on geological drill logs, the structure of wells, groundwater levels, and so on. In Taiwan, groundwater observation network has been built and a large amount of groundwater-level observation data are available. The groundwater level is the state variable of the groundwater system, which reflects the system response combining hydrogeological structure, groundwater injection, and extraction. This study applies analytical tools to the observation database to develop a methodology for the identification of confined and unconfined aquifers. These tools include frequency analysis, cross-correlation analysis between rainfall and groundwater level, groundwater regression curve analysis, and decision tree. The developed methodology is then applied to groundwater layer identification of two groundwater systems: Zhuoshui River alluvial fan and Pingtung Plain. The abovementioned frequency analysis uses Fourier Transform processing time-series groundwater level observation data and analyzing daily frequency amplitude of groundwater level caused by artificial groundwater extraction. The cross-correlation analysis between rainfall and groundwater level is used to obtain the groundwater replenishment time between infiltration and the peak groundwater level during wet seasons. The groundwater regression curve, the average rate of groundwater regression, is used to analyze the internal flux in the groundwater system and the flux caused by artificial behaviors. The decision tree uses the information obtained from the above mentioned analytical tools and optimizes the best estimation of the hydrogeological structure. The developed method reaches training accuracy of 92.31% and verification accuracy 93.75% on Zhuoshui River alluvial fan and training accuracy 95.55%, and verification accuracy 100% on Pingtung Plain. The purpose of this study is to design an appropriate program on gratitude for nurses and to investigate the effects of the program. Based on research done by Kaohsiung Medical University’s Positive Psychology Center, the only one of its kind in Taiwan, one of the top five strengths of nurses is gratitude. Instead of adapting from an older model created from past research, the Gratitude Workshop is developed from a quasi-experimental approach and designed with five additional dimensions that emphasize gratitude: thanking others, thanking one's surroundings, cherishing what one has, appreciating hardships, and appreciating the present. A sample of 84 nurses was randomly selected from the Kaohsiung Municipal Ta-Tung Hospital; 43 of who participated in the nine-hour Gratitude Workshop that spanned over three weeks, while the other 41 were part of the waitlist control group. The pretest and posttest included five questionnaires: Inventory of Undergraduates' Gratitude, The Gratitude Questionnaire-6, Mental Health Continuum‐Short Form, Perceived Stress Scale, and the Stress Coping Strategies Questionnaire. Results of the research showed that the Gratitude Workshop elevates gratitude, well-being, and perceived stress on the nurses; however, it was also found in the Stress Coping Strategies Questionnaire that the Gratitude Workshop only heightened the regulation of emotions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gratitude" title="gratitude">gratitude</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nurses" title=" nurses"> nurses</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=positive%20psychology" title=" positive psychology"> positive psychology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=well-being" title=" well-being"> well-being</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65287/effects-of-the-gratitude-program-on-the-gratitude-well-being-perceived-stress-and-stress-coping-of-nurses" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65287.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">386</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1579</span> A Simple Approach to Establish Urban Energy Consumption Map Using the Combination of LiDAR and Thermal Image</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu-Cheng%20Chen">Yu-Cheng Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tzu-Ping%20Lin"> Tzu-Ping Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Feng-Yi%20Lin"> Feng-Yi Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chih-Yu%20Chen"> Chih-Yu Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Due to the urban heat island effect caused by highly development of city, the heat stress increased in recent year rapidly. Resulting in a sharp raise of the energy used in urban area. The heat stress during summer time exacerbated the usage of air conditioning and electric equipment, which caused more energy consumption and anthropogenic heat. Therefore, an accurate and simple method to measure energy used in urban area can be helpful for the architectures and urban planners to develop better energy efficiency goals. This research applies the combination of airborne LiDAR data and thermal imager to provide an innovate method to estimate energy consumption. Owing to the high resolution of remote sensing data, the accurate current volume and total floor area and the surface temperature of building derived from LiDAR and thermal imager can be herein obtained to predict energy used. In the estimate process, the LiDAR data will be divided into four type of land cover which including building, road, vegetation, and other obstacles. In this study, the points belong to building were selected to overlay with the land use information; therefore, the energy consumption can be estimated precisely with the real value of total floor area and energy use index for different use of building. After validating with the real energy used data from the government, the result shows the higher building in high development area like commercial district will present in higher energy consumption, caused by the large quantity of total floor area and more anthropogenic heat. Furthermore, because of the surface temperature can be warm up by electric equipment used, this study also applies the thermal image of building to find the hot spots of energy used and make the estimation method more complete. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20heat%20island" title="urban heat island">urban heat island</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20planning" title=" urban planning"> urban planning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LiDAR" title=" LiDAR"> LiDAR</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20imager" title=" thermal imager"> thermal imager</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20consumption" title=" energy consumption"> energy consumption</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/81506/a-simple-approach-to-establish-urban-energy-consumption-map-using-the-combination-of-lidar-and-thermal-image" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/81506.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">239</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1578</span> Development of 35kV SF6 Phase-Control Circuit Breaker Equipped with EFDA</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Duanlei%20Yuan">Duanlei Yuan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guangchao%20Yan"> Guangchao Yan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhanqing%20Chen"> Zhanqing Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xian%20Cheng"> Xian Cheng</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper mainly focuses on the problem that high voltage circuit breaker’s closing and opening operation at random phase brings harmful electromagnetic transient effects on the power system. To repress the negative transient effects, a 35 kV SF6 phase-control circuit breaker equipped with electromagnetic force driving actuator is designed in this paper. Based on the constructed mathematical and structural models, the static magnetic field distribution and dynamic properties of the under loading actuator are simulated. The prototype of 35 kV SF6 phase-control circuit breaker is developed based on theories analysis and simulation. Tests are carried on to verify the operating reliability of the prototype. One recent study suggests that individuals with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) might also be at increased risk of osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures. Up to now, the association between IBS and the risk of fractures at different anatomic sites occurrences is not completely clear. We conducted a population-based cohort analysis to investigate the fracture risk of IBS in comparison with non-IBS group. We identified 29,505 adults aged ≥ 20 years with newly diagnosed IBS using the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database in 2000-2012. A comparison group was constructed of patients without IBS who were matched according to gender and age. The occurrence of fracture was monitored until the end of 2013. We analyzed the risk of fracture events to occur in IBS by using Cox proportional hazards regression models. Patients with IBS had a higher incidence of osteoporotic fractures compared with non-IBS group (12.34 versus 9.45 per 1,000 person-years) and an increased risk of osteoporotic fractures (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR] = 1.27, 95 % confidence interval [CI] = 1.20 – 1.35). Site specific analysis showed that the IBS group had a higher risk of fractures for spine, forearm, hip and hand than did the non-IBS group. With further stratification for gender and age, a higher aHR value for osteoporotic fractures in IBS group was seen across all age groups in males, but seen in elderly females. In addition, female, elderly, low income, hypertension, coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disease, and depressive disorders as independent osteoporotic fracture risk factors in IBS patients. The IBS is considered as a risk factor for osteoporotic fractures, particularly in female individuals and fracture sites located at the spine, forearm, hip and hand. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=irritable%20bowel%20syndrome" title="irritable bowel syndrome">irritable bowel syndrome</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fracture" title=" fracture"> fracture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gender%20difference" title=" gender difference"> gender difference</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=longitudinal%20health%20insurance%20database" title=" longitudinal health insurance database"> longitudinal health insurance database</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=public%20health" title=" public health"> public health</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96479/risk-of-fractures-at-different-anatomic-sites-in-patients-with-irritable-bowel-syndrome-a-nationwide-population-based-cohort-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96479.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">229</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1576</span> Reuse of Spent Lithium Battery for the Production of Environmental Catalysts</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jyh-Cherng%20Chen">Jyh-Cherng Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chih-Shiang%20You"> Chih-Shiang You</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jie-Shian%20Cheng"> Jie-Shian Cheng</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study aims to recycle and reuse of spent lithium-cobalt battery and lithium-iron battery in the production of environmental catalysts. However, traditional absorbents such as lithium chloride are hindered in market promotion because they will crystallized and cause metal corrosion. This study used the commercial ionic liquid to build a liquid desiccant dehumidification system with an air volume of 300 CMH. When the absolute humidity of the inlet air was 15g/kg, the absolute humidity of the outlet air was 10g/kg. The dynamic characteristics of the feeding stage were characterized in terms of the modal stiffness, modal frequency and modal damping, which are assessed from the vibration tests. According to the experimental measurements, the actual preload of the linear guide modulus was found to deviate from the rated values as setting in factory. This may be due to the assemblage errors of guide modules. For the stage with linear guides, the dynamic stiffness was affected to change by the preload set on the rolling balls. The variation of the dynamic stiffness at first and second modes is 20.8 and 10.5%, respectively when the linear guide preload is adjusted from medium and high amount. But the modal damping ratio is reduced by 8.97 and 9.65%, respectively. For high-frequency mode, the modal stiffness increases by 171.2% and the damping ratio reduced by 34.4%. Current results demonstrate the importance in the determining the preloaded amount of linear guide modulus in practical application. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=contact%20stiffness" title="contact stiffness">contact stiffness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=feeding%20stage" title=" feeding stage"> feeding stage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linear%20guides" title=" linear guides"> linear guides</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modal%20characteristics" title=" modal characteristics"> modal characteristics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pre-load" title=" pre-load"> pre-load</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/51628/variations-of-the-modal-characteristics-of-the-feeding-stage-with-different-preloaded-linear-guide" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/51628.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">430</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1572</span> The Impact of Major Accounting Events on Managerial Ability and the Accuracy of Environmental Capital Expenditure Projections of the Environmentally Sensitive Industries</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jason%20Chen">Jason Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jennifer%20Chen"> Jennifer Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shiyu%20Li"> Shiyu Li</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We examine whether managerial ability (MA), the passing of Sarbanes-Oxley in 2002 (SOX), and corporate operational complexity affect the accuracy of environmental capital expenditure projections of the environmentally sensitive industries (ESI). Prior studies found that firms in the ESI manipulated their projected environmental capital expenditures as a tool to achieve corporate legitimation and suggested that human factors must be examined to determine whether they are part of the determinants. We use MA to proxy for the latent human factors to examine whether MA affects the accuracy of financial disclosures in the ESI. To expand Chen and Chen (2020), we further investigate whether (1) SOX and (2) firms with complex operations and financial reporting in conjunction with MA affect firms’ projection accuracy. We find, overall, that MA is positively correlated with firm’s projection accuracy in the annual 10-Ks. Furthermore, results suggest that SOX has a positive, yet temporary, effect on MA, and that leads to better accuracy. Finally, MA matters for firms with more complex operations and financial reporting to make less projection errors than their less-complex counterparts. These results suggest that MA is a determinant that affects the accuracy of environmental capital expenditure projections for the firms in the ESI. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=managerial%20ability" title="managerial ability">managerial ability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=environmentally%20sensitive%20industries" title=" environmentally sensitive industries"> environmentally sensitive industries</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sox" title=" sox"> sox</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corporate%20operational%20complexity" title=" corporate operational complexity"> corporate operational complexity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164383/the-impact-of-major-accounting-events-on-managerial-ability-and-the-accuracy-of-environmental-capital-expenditure-projections-of-the-environmentally-sensitive-industries" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164383.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">146</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1571</span> Packaging Processes for the Implantable Medical Microelectronics</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chung-Yu%20Wu">Chung-Yu Wu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chia-Chi%20Chang"> Chia-Chi Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wei-Ming%20Chen"> Wei-Ming Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pu-Wei%20Wu"> Pu-Wei Wu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shih-Fan%20Chen"> Shih-Fan Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Po-Chun%20Chen"> Po-Chun Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Electrostimulation medical devices for neural diseases require electroactive and biocompatible materials to transmit signals from electrodes to targeting tissues. We explored a hermetic packaging process with high quality of adhesion and uniformity as the biocompatible devices for long-term implantation. This approach is able to provide both excellent biocompatibility and protection to the biomedical electronic devices by performing conformal coating of biocompatible materials. There are three main steps in this study. First, the UF6 data were collected. Second, one postulated case was analyzed by using the RASCAL and UF6 data. This postulated case assumes that fire occurring and UF6 is releasing from a building. Third, the results of RASCAL for HF mass were as the input data of ALOHA. Two postulated cases of HF were analyzed by using ALOHA code and the results of RASCAL. These postulated cases assume fire occurring and HF is releasing with no raining (Case 1) or raining (Case 2) condition. According to the analysis results of ALOHA, the HF concentration of Case 2 is smaller than Case 1. The results can be a reference for the preparing of emergency plans for the release of HF. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RASCAL" title="RASCAL">RASCAL</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ALOHA" title=" ALOHA"> ALOHA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UF%E2%82%86" title=" UF₆"> UF₆</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydrogen%20fluoride" title=" hydrogen fluoride"> hydrogen fluoride</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98384/using-rascal-and-aloha-codes-to-establish-an-analysis-methodology-for-hydrogen-fluoride-evaluation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98384.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">751</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1569</span> Study on Practice of Improving Water Quality in Urban Rivers by Diverting Clean Water</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manjie%20Li">Manjie Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiangju%20Cheng"> Xiangju Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yongcan%20Chen"> Yongcan Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With rapid development of industrialization and urbanization, water environmental deterioration is widespread in majority of urban rivers, which seriously affects city image and life satisfaction of residents. As an emergency measure to improve water quality, clean water diversion is introduced for water environmental management. Lubao River and Southwest River, two urban rivers in typical plain tidal river network, are identified as technically and economically feasible for the application of clean water diversion. One-dimensional hydrodynamic-water quality model is developed to simulate temporal and spatial variations of water level and water quality, with satisfactory accuracy. The mathematical model after calibration is applied to investigate hydrodynamic and water quality variations in rivers as well as determine the optimum operation scheme of water diversion. Assessment system is developed for evaluation of positive and negative effects of water diversion, demonstrating the effectiveness of clean water diversion and the necessity of pollution reduction. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=assessment%20system" title="assessment system">assessment system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=clean%20water%20diversion" title=" clean water diversion"> clean water diversion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydrodynamic-water%20quality%20model" title=" hydrodynamic-water quality model"> hydrodynamic-water quality model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tidal%20river%20network" title=" tidal river network"> tidal river network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20rivers" title=" urban rivers"> urban rivers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20environment%20improvement" title=" water environment improvement"> water environment improvement</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90577/study-on-practice-of-improving-water-quality-in-urban-rivers-by-diverting-clean-water" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90577.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">276</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1568</span> Simultaneous Nitrification and Denitrification in Suspended Activated Sludge Process Augmented with Immobilized Biomass: A Pilot Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haon-Yao%20Chen">Haon-Yao Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Fang%20Lin"> Cheng-Fang Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pui-Kwan%20Andy%20Hong"> Pui-Kwan Andy Hong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ping-Yi%20Yang"> Ping-Yi Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kok%20Kwang%20Ng"> Kok Kwang Ng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sheng-Fu%20Yang"> Sheng-Fu Yang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Simultaneous nitrification and denitrification (SND) are a natural phenomenon in the soil environment that can be applied in wastewater treatment. At a domestic wastewater treatment plant, we performed a pilot test of installing bioplates with entrapped biomass into a conventional aeration basin for SND, and investigated the effects of bioplate packing ratio, hydraulic retention time, dissolved oxygen level, on/off aeration mode, and supplemental carbon and alkalinity on nitrogen removal. With the pilot aeration basin of 1.3 m3 loaded with mixed liquor suspended solids of 1500-2500 mg/L and bioplates at PR of 3.2% (3.2% basin volume) operated at HRT of 6 h and DO of 4-6 mg/L without supplemental carbon or alkalinity, nitrogen in the wastewater was removed to an effluent total nitrogen (TN) of 7.3 mg/L from an influent TN of 28 mg/L. The bioplate robust cellulose triacetate structure carrying the biomass shows promise in retrofitting conventional aeration basins for enhanced nutrient removal. <p
