I've never been to Munich before, so I'm looking forward to getting some time to see the city and meet some people. I'm also thinking about doing a photowalk when I'm there. Any Munich natives or DLD participants up for a walk around the city to geek out and take some photos? </p><p> After DLD, I'm off to the <a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20070123202827/http://www.weforum.org/en/index.htm">World Economic Forum</a> in Davos, Switzerland. Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore spoke at We Media 05 (hosted by The Associated Press in New York), and I attended last year's forum in London hosted by the BBC and Reuters. </p><p>We Media is a compelling experience, and if you ever get the chance I recommend you go. The diversity of the group always brings interesting insight to each conference as topic; last year the focus was "trust", and the discussion was interesting. We've now upgraded to redundant servers and PHP 5.2.</p> <p>The redundancy will greatly increase our uptime. There's no need for you to publish a separate vCard file (which you'd have to keep in sync with the HTML version), we'll build it for you on the fly.</p> <p>The switch from PHP 4 to PHP 5.2 also means a switch in XSLT libraries (which X2V relies on) from Sablotron to libxml2. This gives us about 1.5 orders of magnitude improvement in performance. For example, before the switch it would take about 35-40 seconds to fetch and convert Tantek's homepage. Now it takes around 0.7 seconds.
