And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat <Fr><i>such</i><FR> things <Fr><i>as are</i><FR> set before you;<Fr> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span><FR>and heal those in it <Fr><i>that are</i><FR> sick, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come unto you.<Fr> <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span><FR>But into whatever city ye come, and they receive you not, go out into the streets of it and say,<Fr> <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span><FR>even the dust that cleaveth to us out of your city we wipe off against you: but know this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.<Fr> <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span><FR>And I tell you, it shall be more tolerable in that day <Fr><i>even</i><FR> for Sodom than for that city.<Fr><p> <A name="14"></a><p class="hdg">Woe to the Unrepentant<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../matthew/11.htm#20">Matthew 11:20–24</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span><FR>Wo unto thee, Chorazin, wo unto thee, Bethsaida, for if the miracles wrought among you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.<Fr> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span><FR>But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgement than for you.<Fr> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span><FR>And thou Capernaum, which art exalted even to heaven, shalt be cast down to hell.<Fr><p> <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span><FR>---He, that heareth you, heareth me; and he, that rejecteth you, rejecteth me; and he, that rejecteth me, rejecteth Him that sent me.<Fr><p> <A name="18"></a><p class="hdg">The Joyful Return<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And the seventy returned with joy saying, Lord, even the devils are subject to us through thy name. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>And He said unto them, <FR>I beheld Satan, as lightning, falling from heaven.<Fr> <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span><FR>Behold I give you power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the might of the enemy; and nothing shall at all hurt you.<Fr> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span><FR>However rejoice not in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rather rejoice that your names are written in heaven.<Fr><p> <A name="22"></a><p class="hdg">Jesus’ Prayer of Thanksgiving<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../matthew/11.htm#25">Matthew 11:25–30</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>At <i>this</i> time Jesus was transported with joy in <i>his</i> spirit and said, <FR>I thank thee, <Fr><i>O</i><FR> Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these <Fr><i>things</i><FR> from the wise and knowing, and hast revealed them to babes: even so, Father, for such was thy good pleasure.<Fr> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span><FR>All <Fr><i>things</i><FR> are delivered to me by my Father: and none knoweth who the Son is, but the Father: and who the Father is, but the Son; and he to whom the Son pleaseth to reveal <Fr><i>Him.</i><p> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>And turning to the disciples, He said to them in particular, <FR>Blessed are the eyes that see what ye see:<Fr> <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span><FR>for many prophets and kings desired to see the <Fr><i>things</i><FR> which ye see, and did not see <Fr><i>them;</i><FR> and to hear what ye hear, but did not hear <Fr><i>them.</i><p> <A name="26"></a><p class="hdg">The Parable of the Good Samaritan<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>And behold, a lawyer stood up to try Him, and said, Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life? <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>He said to him, <FR>What is written in the law? How readest thou <Fr><i>there?</i> <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>And he answered, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind: and thy neighbor as thyself. <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>And He said unto him, <FR>Thou hast answered right; do this and thou shalt live.<Fr> <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>But he willing to justify himself said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?<p> <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>And Jesus replying said, <FR>There was a certain man going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among thieves, who after they had stripped and beaten him, went away, leaving him half dead.<Fr> <A name="32"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span><FR>And by chance a certain priest came down that way, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.<Fr> <A name="33"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span><FR>Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place, went and looked <Fr><i>at him,</i><FR> and <Fr><i>then</i><FR> crossed <Fr><i>the way</i><FR> and passed by.<Fr> <A name="34"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span><FR>But a certain Samaritan, as he was travelling, came <Fr><i>up</i><FR> to him, and when He saw him,<Fr> <A name="35"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span><FR>he was moved with compassion, and went to <Fr><i>him</i><FR> and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine; and setting him upon his own beast, brought him to an inn and took care of him.<Fr> <A name="36"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span><FR>And on the morrow, when he went away he took out two denaries, and gave <Fr><i>them</i><FR> to the inn-keeper, and said to him, Take care of him, and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again I will repay thee.<Fr> <A name="37"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span><FR>Which now of these three dost thou think was neighbor to him that fell among the thieves?<Fr> <A name="38"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>And he said, He that took pity on him.
