And having sat down, He was teaching them. <a href="/john/8-3.htm">3</a>Now the scribes and the Pharisees bring to Him a woman having been caught in adultery, and having set her in the midst, <a href="/john/8-4.htm">4</a>they say to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act, committing adultery. <a href="/john/8-5.htm">5</a>Now in the Law Moses commanded us such to be stoned. You therefore, what do You say?” <a href="/john/8-6.htm">6</a>Now they were saying this testing Him, so that they might have grounds to accuse Him. But Jesus, having stooped down, began writing with His finger on the ground. <a href="/john/8-7.htm">7</a>But as they continued asking Him, having lifted Himself up, also He said to them, “The one sinless among you, let him cast the first stone at her.” <a href="/john/8-8.htm">8</a>And again having stooped down, He continued to write on the ground. <a href="/john/8-9.htm">9</a>And having heard,<a href="#fna" title="NE, BYZ, and TR include ‘and were convicted by their conscience’">a</a> they began to go away one by one, having begun from the elder ones until the last, and He was left alone, Jesus and the woman being in the midst. <a href="/john/8-10.htm">10</a>And having lifted up,<a href="#fnb" title="NE, BYZ, and TR include ‘and saw no one but the woman’">b</a> Jesus said to her, “Woman where are they who accuse you?<a href="#fnc" title="WH and NA ‘where are they’">c</a> Has no one condemned you?” <a href="/john/8-11.htm">11</a>And she said, “No one, Sir.” And to her Jesus said, “Neither I do condemn you. Go and sin no more from now on.” <hr size="1" color="DDEEFF">Jesus the Light of the World (1 John 1:5-10)<a href="/john/8-12.htm">12</a>Therefore Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. The one following Me shall not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.” <a href="/john/8-13.htm">13</a>Therefore the Pharisees said to Him, “You are bearing witness concerning Yourself; Your testimony is not true.” <a href="/john/8-14.htm">14</a>Jesus answered and said to them, “Even if I am bearing witness concerning Myself, My testimony is true, because I know from where I came and where I am going. But you do not know from where I come or where I am going. <a href="/john/8-15.htm">15</a>You judge according to the flesh; I am judging no one. <a href="/john/8-16.htm">16</a>But even if I judge, My judgment is true, because I am not alone, but I and the Father, having sent Me. <a href="/john/8-17.htm">17</a>But also in your Law it has been written that the testimony of two men is true. <a href="/john/8-18.htm">18</a>I am One bearing witness concerning Myself, and the Father having sent Me bears witness concerning Me.” <a href="/john/8-19.htm">19</a>Therefore they were saying to Him, “Where is Your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.” <a href="/john/8-20.htm">20</a>He spoke these words in the treasury, teaching in the temple; and no one seized Him, for His hour had not yet come. <a href="/john/8-21.htm">21</a>Then He said to them again, “I am going away and you will seek Me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you are not able to come.” <a href="/john/8-22.htm">22</a>Therefore the Jews were saying, “Will He kill Himself, that He says, ‘Where I go, you are not able to come’?” <a href="/john/8-23.htm">23</a>And He was saying to them, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. <a href="/john/8-24.htm">24</a>Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” <a href="/john/8-25.htm">25</a>Therefore they were saying to Him, “Who are You?” Jesus said to them, “Just what I am saying to you from the beginning. <a href="/john/8-26.htm">26</a>I have many things to say and to judge concerning you. But the One having sent Me is true; and I what I have heard from Him, these things I say to the world.” <a href="/john/8-27.htm">27</a>They did not understand that He was speaking to them about the Father. <a href="/john/8-28.htm">28</a>Therefore Jesus said to them, “When you shall have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and I do nothing from Myself; but as the Father taught Me, I speak these things. <a href="/john/8-29.htm">29</a>And the One having sent Me is with Me. He has not left Me alone, because I always do the things pleasing to Him.” The Truth will Set You Free (2 John 1:4-6)<a href="/john/8-30.htm">30</a>Of His speaking these things, many believed in Him. <a href="/john/8-31.htm">31</a>Therefore Jesus was saying to the Jews having believed in Him, “If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples. <a href="/john/8-32.htm">32</a>And you will know the truth, and the truth will set free you.” <a href="/john/8-33.htm">33</a>They answered unto Him, “We are Abraham’s seed, and to no one ever have we been under bondage. How do You say, ‘You will become free’?” <a href="/john/8-34.htm">34</a>Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you that everyone practicing the sin is a slave of the sin. <a href="/john/8-35.htm">35</a>Now the slave does not abide in the house to the age; the son abides to the age. <a href="/john/8-36.htm">36</a>So if the Son shall set you free, you will be free indeed. The Children of the Devil<a href="/john/8-37.htm">37</a>I know that you are Abraham’s seed; but you seek to kill Me because My word receives no place in you. <a href="/john/8-38.htm">38</a>I speak that which I have seen with the Father; therefore you also do what you have heard from your father.” <a href="/john/8-39.htm">39</a>They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus says to them, “If you were children of Abraham, you would do the works of Abraham. <a href="/john/8-40.htm">40</a>But now you seek to kill Me, a man who has spoken to you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. <a href="/john/8-41.htm">41</a>You are doing the works of your father.”Therefore they said to Him, “We have not been born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God.” <a href="/john/8-42.htm">42</a>Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would have loved Me, for I came forth from God and am here; for not even have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. <a href="/john/8-43.htm">43</a>Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to hear My word. <a href="/john/8-44.htm">44</a>You are of your father the devil, and you desire to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he might speak falsehood, he speaks from the own; for he is a liar, and the father of it. <a href="/john/8-45.htm">45</a>Now because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me! <a href="/john/8-46.htm">46</a>Which of you convicts me concerning sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe Me? <a href="/john/8-47.htm">47</a>He who is of God hears the words of God; because of this, you do not hear, because you are not of God.” Before Abraham was Born, I Am<a href="/john/8-48.htm">48</a>The Jews answered and said to Him, “Are we not rightly saying that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?” <a href="/john/8-49.htm">49</a>Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me. <a href="/john/8-50.htm">50</a>Yet I do not seek My glory; there is One seeking it and judging. <a href="/john/8-51.htm">51</a>Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word, he shall never see death, to the age.” <a href="/john/8-52.htm">52</a>Therefore the Jews said to Him, “Now we know that You have a demon. Abraham and the prophets died, and You say, ‘If anyone keeps My word, he shall never taste of death, to the age.’ <a href="/john/8-53.htm">53</a>Are You greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Whom do You make yourself?” <a href="/john/8-54.htm">54</a>Jesus answered, “If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father glorifying Me, of whom you say, ‘He is our<a href="#fnd" title="WH and TR ‘Your’">d</a> God.’ <a href="/john/8-55.htm">55</a>And you have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I say that I do not know Him, I will be a liar like you.
