Just<MG2531a> as<MG2531a> the branch<MG2814> cannot<MG1410, 3756> bear<MG5342> fruit<MG2590> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>of itself<MG1438> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>but must remain<MG3306> in the vine<MG288>, so<MG3779> neither<MG3761> <i>can</i> you unless<MG1437, 3361> you remain<MG3306> in Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>I am<MG1510> the vine<MG288>, you are the branches<MG2814>; the one who remains<MG3306> in Me, and I in him <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>bears<MG5342> much<MG4183> fruit<MG2590>, for apart<MG5565> from Me you can<MG1410> do<MG4160> nothing<MG3756, 3762>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>If<MG1437> anyone<MG5100> does not remain<MG3306> in Me, he is thrown<MG906> away<MG1854> like<MG5613> a branch<MG2814> and dries<MG3583> up; and they gather<MG4863> them and throw<MG906> them into the fire<MG4442>, and they are burned<MG2545>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>If<MG1437> you remain<MG3306> in Me, and My words<MG4487> remain<MG3306> in you, ask<MG154> whatever<MG3739, 1437> you wish<MG2309>, and it will be done<MG1096> for you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>My Father<MG3962> is glorified<MG1392> by this<MG3778>, that you bear<MG5342> much<MG4183> fruit<MG2590>, and <i>so</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>prove<MG1096> to be My disciples<MG3101>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Just<MG2531a> as<MG2531a> the Father<MG3962> has loved<MG25> Me, I also<MG2532> have loved<MG25> you; remain<MG3306> in My love<MG26>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>If<MG1437> you keep<MG5083> My commandments<MG1785>, you will remain<MG3306> in My love<MG26>; just<MG2531a> as<MG2531a> I have kept<MG5083> My Father’s<MG3962> commandments<MG1785> and remain<MG3306> in His love<MG26>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>These<MG3778> things<MG3778> I have spoken<MG2980> to you so<MG2443> that<MG2443> My joy<MG5479> may be in you, and <i>that</i> your joy<MG5479> may be made<MG4137> full<MG4137>. <p class="hdg">Disciples’ Relation to Each Other</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>“This<MG3778> is My commandment<MG1785>, that you love<MG25> one<MG240> another<MG240>, just<MG2531a> as<MG2531a> I have loved<MG25> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Greater<MG3173> love<MG26> has<MG2192> no<MG3762> one<MG3762> than this<MG3778>, that a person<MG5100> will lay<MG5087> down<MG5087> his life<MG5590> for his friends<MG5384>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>You are My friends<MG5384> if<MG1437> you do<MG4160> what<MG3739> I command<MG1781> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>No<MG3765> longer<MG3765> do I call<MG3004> you slaves<MG1401>, for the slave<MG1401> does not know<MG3609a> what<MG5101> his master<MG2962> is doing<MG4160>; but I have called<MG3004> you friends<MG5384>, because<MG3754> all<MG3956> things<MG3956> that I have heard<MG191> from My Father<MG3962> I have made<MG1107> known<MG1107> to you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>You did not choose<MG1586> Me but I chose<MG1586> you, and appointed<MG5087> you that you would go<MG5217> and bear<MG5342> fruit<MG2590>, and <i>that</i> your fruit<MG2590> would remain<MG3306>, so<MG2443> that<MG2443> whatever<MG3739, 5100, 302> you ask<MG154> of the Father<MG3962> in My name<MG3686> He may give<MG1325> to you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>This<MG3778> I command<MG1781> you, that you love<MG25> one<MG240> another<MG240>. <p class="hdg">Disciples’ Relation to the World</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>“If<MG1487> the world<MG2889> hates<MG3404> you, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>you know<MG1097> that it has hated<MG3404> Me before<MG4413> <i>it hated</i> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>If<MG1487> you were of the world<MG2889>, the world<MG2889> would love<MG5368> <i>you as</i> its own<MG2398>; but because<MG3754> you are not of the world<MG2889>, but I chose<MG1586> you out<MG1586> of the world<MG2889>, because<MG1223> of this<MG3778> the world<MG2889> hates<MG3404> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Remember<MG3421> the word<MG3056> that I said<MG3004> to you, ‘A slave<MG1401> is not greater<MG3173> than his master<MG2962>.’ If<MG1487> they persecuted<MG1377> Me, they will persecute<MG1377> you as<MG2532> well<MG2532>; if<MG1487> they followed<MG5083> My word<MG3056>, they will follow<MG5083> yours<MG5212> also<MG2532>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>But all<MG3956> these<MG3778> things<MG3778> they will do<MG4160> to you on<MG1223> account<MG1223> of<MG1223> My name<MG3686>, because<MG3754> they do not know<MG3609a> the One<MG3588> who sent<MG3992> Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>If<MG1487> I had not come<MG2064> and spoken<MG2980> to them, they would not have<MG2192> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>sin<MG266>; but now<MG3568> they have<MG2192> no<MG3756> excuse<MG4392> for their sin<MG266>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>The one who hates<MG3404> Me hates<MG3404> My Father<MG3962> also<MG2532>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/15-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>If<MG1487> I had not done<MG4160> among<MG1722> them the works<MG2041> which<MG3739> no<MG3762> one<MG3762> else<MG243> did<MG4160>, they would not have<MG2192> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>sin<MG266>;
