Jesus answered him, <FR>If I do not wash thee, thou hast no part with me.<Fr> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Simon Peter saith unto Him, Lord, not my feet only, but also <i>my</i> hands and <i>my</i> head. <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Jesus saith to him, <FR>He that hath been bathing, hath need only to wash his feet, being <Fr><i>then</i><FR> clean all over: and <Fr><i>thus</i><FR> ye are clean, but not all <Fr><i>of you.</i> <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, <FR>Ye are not all clean.<Fr><p> <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And when He had washed their feet, and taken his clothes <i>about Him,</i> He sat down again, and said to them, <FR>Do ye know <Fr><i>the intent of</i><FR> what I have been doing to you?<Fr> <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span><FR>Ye call me, Master, and Lord; and ye say well; for <Fr><i>so</i><FR> I am.<Fr> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span><FR>If I then <Fr><i>your</i><FR> Lord and Master have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another's feet.<Fr> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span><FR>For I have given you an example, that ye also should do as I have done to you.<Fr> <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span><FR>Verily, verily I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord, nor <Fr><i>is</i><FR> the messenger greater than he that sent him.<Fr> <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span><FR>If ye know these <Fr><i>things,</i><FR> happy are ye, if ye do them.<Fr><p> <A name="19"></a><p class="hdg">Jesus Predicts His Betrayal<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span><FR>I speak not of you all; I know whom I have chosen: but <Fr><i>have done it</i><FR> that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me, hath lift up his heel against me.<Fr> <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span><i>And</i><FR> I tell you now, before it come, that when it comes to pass ye may believe that I am <Fr><i>the Messiah.</i> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span><FR>Verily, verily I say unto you, He that receiveth <Fr><i>him,</i><FR> whom I shall send, receiveth me: and he that receiveth me, receiveth Him that sent me.<Fr><p> <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Jesus having said these <i>things</i> was troubled in spirit, and He <i>openly</i> testified and said, <FR>Verily, verily I tell you, that one of you will betray me.<Fr> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>The disciples therefore looked on one another, doubting of whom He spake. <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>Now there was one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, sitting next Him. <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him to ask, who it was concerning whom He spake. <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>And he, reclining on the breast of Jesus, saith unto Him, Lord, who is it? <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>Jesus answered, <FR>It is he to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped <Fr><i>it:</i> and He dipped in a sop and gave <i>it</i> to Judas <i>the</i> Iscariot <i>the son</i> of Simon. <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>And after the sop Satan entred into him. Then Jesus saith unto him, <FR>What thou dost, do quickly.<Fr> <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>But none of those that sat at table knew wherefore He said this to him. <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>For some <i>of them</i> thought, because Judas kept the purse, that Jesus said to him, Buy what <i>things</i> we have need of against the feast: or that he should give something to the poor. <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/13-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>He therefore, when he had taken the sop, immediately went out.
