Different models have been proposed to describe this relationship with the quadratic function model being the most popular one. Parameters of second order fuel cost function are estimated in this paper using cuckoo search algorithm. It is a new population based meta-heuristic optimization technique that has been used in this study primarily as an accurate estimation tool. Its main features are flexibility, simplicity, and effectiveness when compared to other estimation techniques. The parameter estimation problem is formulated as an optimization one with the goal being minimizing the error associated with the estimated parameters. A case study is considered in this paper to illustrate cuckoo search promising potential as a valuable estimation and optimization technique. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cuckoo%20search" title="cuckoo search">cuckoo search</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parameters%20estimation" title=" parameters estimation"> parameters estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuel%20cost%20function" title=" fuel cost function"> fuel cost function</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=economic%20dispatch" title=" economic dispatch"> economic dispatch</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25377/estimation-of-fuel-cost-function-characteristics-using-cuckoo-search" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25377.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">585</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> NaCl Erosion-Corrosion of Mild Steel under Submerged Impingement Jet</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Sadique">M. The material degradation caused by erosion-corrosion in pipelines can result in a high cost of monitoring and maintenance and in major accidents. The process of erosion-corrosion consists of erosion, corrosion, and their interactions. Investigating and understanding how the erosion-corrosion process affects the degradation process in certain materials will allow for a reduction in economic loss and help prevent accidents. In this study, material loss due to erosion-corrosion of mild steel under impingement of sand-laden water at 90藲 impingement angle is investigated using a submerged impingement jet (SIJ) test. In particular, effects of jet velocity and sand loading on TWL due to erosion-corrosion, weight loss due to pure erosion and erosion-corrosion interactions, at a temperature of 29-33 °C in sea water environment (3.5% NaCl), are analyzed. The results show that the velocity and sand loading have a great influence on the removal of materials, and erosion is more dominant under all conditions studied. Changes in the surface characteristics of the specimen after impingement test are also discussed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=erosion-corrosion" title="erosion-corrosion">erosion-corrosion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flow%20velocity" title=" flow velocity"> flow velocity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=jet%20impingement" title=" jet impingement"> jet impingement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sand%20loading" title=" sand loading"> sand loading</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56516/nacl-erosion-corrosion-of-mild-steel-under-submerged-impingement-jet" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56516.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">279</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> Real Time Lidar and Radar High-Level Fusion for Obstacle Detection and Tracking with Evaluation on a Ground Truth</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hatem%20Hajri">Hatem Hajri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed-Cherif%20Rahal"> Mohamed-Cherif Rahal</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Both Lidars and Radars are sensors for obstacle detection. While Lidars are very accurate on obstacles positions and less accurate on their velocities, Radars are more precise on obstacles velocities and less precise on their positions. Sensor fusion between Lidar and Radar aims at improving obstacle detection using advantages of the two sensors. The present paper proposes a real-time Lidar/Radar data fusion algorithm for obstacle detection and tracking based on the global nearest neighbour standard filter (GNN). This algorithm is implemented and embedded in an automative vehicle as a component generated by a real-time multisensor software. The benefits of data fusion comparing with the use of a single sensor are illustrated through several tracking scenarios (on a highway and on a bend) and using real-time kinematic sensors mounted on the ego and tracked vehicles as a ground truth. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ground%20truth" title="ground truth">ground truth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hungarian%20algorithm" title=" Hungarian algorithm"> Hungarian algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lidar%20Radar%20data%20fusion" title=" lidar Radar data fusion"> lidar Radar data fusion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=global%20nearest%20neighbor%20filter" title=" global nearest neighbor filter"> global nearest neighbor filter</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95451/real-time-lidar-and-radar-high-level-fusion-for-obstacle-detection-and-tracking-with-evaluation-on-a-ground-truth" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95451.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">180</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1</span> Entrepreneurship Training of Young People as a Pillar to Generate Income and Create Jobs: Progress Report of the Moroccan National Human Development Initiative in the Region of Meknes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bennani%20Zoubir%20Nada">Bennani Zoubir Nada</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=El%20Hiri%20Abderrazak"> El Hiri Abderrazak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=El%20Hajri%20Aimad"> El Hajri Aimad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In context of economic and health crisis, sustainable entrepreneurship has become one of the best solutions to economic recovery. This study is about the third program of the Moroccan national human development initiative in her third phase which began in 2019 and continuous until 2023, and which deals with income improvement and social inclusion of young people, under the high patronage of his majesty the king of Morocco. What is the approach of this program and how entrepreneurship training of young people can be a pillar to generate income and create jobs? Starting on the effectuation theory, we adopted an exploratory qualitative approach through semi-structured interviews with national human development initiative stakeholders in the area of Meknes-Morocco, which allowed us the state of progress of this program. We carried out a survey based on a grid of questions to collect information that we processed using NVIVO software. The most relevant results are that people eligible are jobless young people, who are between 18 and 35 years old, who reside in Meknes and surroundings and who have a project idea. They are trained by experts in entrepreneurship and management through targeted and diversified courses. To ensure the sustainability of projects, the project organisers have provided measures to ensure the sustainability of the companies through continuous monitoring and evaluation as well as support during all phases from the project idea to the realisation and progress. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
