betaling en vergoeding van de kosten een stuk eenvoudiger wanneer u een <a href="http://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?catId=559&langId=nl" data-linkid="02c3d541-5f48-479f-9893-61a13723e65b">Europese ziekteverzekeringskaart <span class="label-end"><span>(EHIC)</span><svg focusable="false" aria-label="Deze link brengt u naar een andere website"> <title>Deze link brengt u naar een andere website</title> <use href="/youreurope/citizens/images/ecl/ecl-eu-icons.svg#external"></use></svg></span></a> heeft. </p> <p> Met de Europese ziekteverzekeringskaart kunt u behandeld worden en vergoeding vragen voor de kosten <strong>op dezelfde voorwaarden als inwoners van het land waar u bent</strong>. Als de behandeling voor inwoners van dat land gratis is, hoeft u ook niets te betalen. Moet u wel betalen, dan kunt u ofwel een vergoeding vragen van de nationale zorginstelling terwijl u nog in dat land bent, of na thuiskomst uw eigen zorgverzekering/mutualiteit om vergoeding vragen. </p> <p> <strong>Medische kosten worden vergoed op basis van de regels en tarieven van het land waar u behandeld bent</strong>. Dit betekent dat u alle kosten vergoed krijgt, maar ook dat u een eigen bijdrage moet betalen, als dat gebruikelijk is in dat land. Uw zorgverzekering/mutualiteit kan ook op grond van de eigen regels besluiten alle kosten te vergoeden. Houd er rekening mee dat inwoners van landen met hoge patiëntkosten vaak een aanvullende — particuliere — verzekering hebben om hun risico’s te dekken. </p> <p> Elk EU-land heeft ten minste één nationaal contactpunt dat u kan helpen met vragen over vergoeding. In een paar eenvoudige stappen kunnen we u helpen het <strong><a data-linkid="99515abc-5143-4601-834f-d58adec3d203" href="https://asf.youreurope.europa.eu/?lang=nl" title="nationale contactpunt voor grensoverschrijdende gezondheidszorg vinden voor het land dat u nodig hebt">nationale contactpunt voor grensoverschrijdende gezondheidszorg te vinden voor het land dat u nodig hebt</a></strong>. </p> <div class="example"> <h4> Voorbeeld </h4> <h5> Lees meer over de regels voor sociale zekerheid in het land dat u bezoekt. </h5> <p> Anna is aangesloten bij de wettelijk verplichte ziektekostenverzekering van <span>Frankrijk</span> en verblijft een paar maanden in <span>België</span> om haar studie af te maken. Ze heeft haar Europese ziekteverzekeringskaart (EHIC), die in <span>Frankrijk</span> is afgegeven, bij zich. Zij is zwanger en zal in <span>België</span> bevallen. Zwangerschap en bevalling worden beschouwd als dringende medische zorg, dus Anna krijgt de nodige medische hulp in <span>België</span> op vertoon van haar ziekteverzekeringskaart en haar identiteitskaart. </p> <p> Anna wordt in België behandeld alsof ze verzekerd is in dat land. Dat betekent dat als de behandeling gratis is voor mensen die daar verzekerd zijn, deze ook voor Anna gratis is. Als mensen in dat land moeten betalen voor de behandeling en dan een vergoeding vragen, moet Anna hetzelfde bedrag betalen als de inwoners van dat land en daarna om vergoeding vragen. Dat moet ze doen in België, waar ze dezelfde vergoeding krijgt als de mensen die daar verzekerd zijn. België verhaalt dan de kosten op Anna’s ziektekostenverzekering in Frankrijk. </p> <p> Een andere mogelijkheid is dat ze bij haar zorgverzekering om terugbetaling vraagt wanneer zij naar Frankrijk terugkeert. </p> <p> <strong>Maar als Anna speciaal naar België zou zijn gegaan om daar te bevallen, zou men haar Europese ziekteverzekeringskaart daar kunnen weigeren:</strong> in dat geval had ze <a data-linkid="1ae4c420-3689-435d-8f91-c3d691444329" href="https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/health/planned-healthcare/index_nl.htm" title="afspraken om in het buitenland te bevallen">afspraken moeten maken om in het buitenland te bevallen</a> vóór haar vertrek naar België. Dan was ze zeker geweest dat de kosten zouden worden vergoed. </p> </div> <h2> Zonder Europese ziekteverzekeringskaart </h2> <p> Als u geen <a data-linkid="02c3d541-5f48-479f-9893-61a13723e65b" data-master-href="https://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?catId=559&langId=en" href="http://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?catId=559&langId=nl">Europese ziekteverzekeringskaart (EHIC)</a> heeft of als u de kaart niet kunt gebruiken (bijvoorbeeld in een privékliniek), kan het zijn dat u de <strong>behandeling zelf moet betalen</strong>. In sommige landen kunt u zonder de Europese ziekteverzekeringskaart worden behandeld als privépatiënt en kan u zelfs in openbare instellingen een privétarief worden aangerekend. Eenmaal thuis kunt u <strong>uw zorgverzekeraar om vergoeding vragen</strong>. Dit geldt bij zowel openbare als privé-zorgverleners. Maar de voorwaarden zijn wel verschillend: </p> <ul> <li> alleen de behandelingen waar u thuis recht op heeft, worden vergoed </li> <li> u ontvangt een vergoeding tot maximaal de kosten van de behandeling in eigen land, dus soms minder dan de betaalde kosten </li> </ul> <p> Als u dringend moet worden behandeld, kan uw lokale zorgverzekeraar u helpen door u het voorlopig vervangend ziekteverzekeringsbewijs te faxen of per e-mail toe te sturen.
