Turbinectomy is usually reserved for patients who have persistent symptoms despite previous turbinate reduction surgery. The maxilloturbinates may not have been preserved because they were either very thin or <a href="/wiki/Cartilaginous" class="mw-redirect" title="Cartilaginous">cartilaginous</a>.
